Professional golf played at night?

Yes, there was indeed high-profile golf played under the lights instead of daylight.

And that's just one of the unique but entertaining twists featured at the seventh edition of Capital One's The Match, which saw Rory McIlroy team up with Tiger Woods to go head-to-head with the pairing of Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.

The 12-hole competition was played in the evening at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, to settle a few scores between four of golf's biggest stars and support Florida in its effort to bounce back from the statewide devastation in the wake of Hurricane Ian.

By the end of the night, it was Spieth and Thomas prevailing 3 and 2 after taking the lead early and never looking back after the latter went for a long birdie to win the second hole and hit the Michael Jordan shrug.

Ever the showman, Woods started things off with a birdie on the opening hole that was "smooth as a Tootsie Roll," but that would be the lone highlight for him on the night.

From there, Spieth and Thomas went on to combine for a few pars and two more birdies to finish off their opponents on the 10th hole.

There were some beautiful shots and competitive flourishes from the superstar quartet to the delight of fans, including JT's use of a 5-wood to make par on a 455-yard hole.

But as much as there was great action and gamesmanship on the links, it was the trash talk and other hilarious moments along the way that made this event must-see TV.

All four athletes traded barbs leading up to Saturday night, but the trolling really got underway during and after The Match.

"Hey Tiger and Rory...what happened?!?!" Spieth and Thomas joked on Twitter afterward.

"How do you lose to us two?" Spieth said.

It's all right...everybody does." JT added.

Probably the biggest burn was directed at Charles Barkley, the announcer for the night.

Barbs directed at Sir Charles is par for the course, considering everyone took a swipe before the match. That included Woods, who, when prompted with the question of "are you going to listen to Charles throughout the day or are you pretty much going to mute him?" responded with "if we had an option, we'd never listen to him."

Thomas has history with the Round Mound of Rebound, especially with Barkley, an Auburn alum, goading him about having attended "Alabama University," so it's no surprise the line of the night came from him.

"Chuck's looking at that moon like it's an Oreo," he said.

That was the best zinger on the night from JT, but it wasn't his only one.

Before the first drive, he made reference to toeing the line when it comes to Barkley and getting the adult beverage of choice on the course.

"If you call Charles Barkley a fat ass, they will not give you the drink that you requested on the golf course."

Not to be outdone, Barkley had some great color commentary of his own.

After McIIroy missed a birdie putt that would have cut the lead at the fifth hole, Barkley hilariously exhaled on behalf of his network TNT.

"Man, we needed that. We need this to go the full 12 holes. I mean TNT got another 795 commercials to run," he said.

Then there was Barkley's earlier dig at JT's nuptials.

"Best night of my life. I wish I could have it over again," Thomas said.

"Well, it's early. You could do it again," Barkley replied.

JT and Barkley's back-and-forth was the highlight of the whole event, but Spieth got in one last zinger before signing off.

After winning, he took a jab at Woods.

"The joy out of getting this does not match the joy of standing here with Tiger just being so upset that he has to stand here for this," he said.

Laughter aside, it was all for a great cause, adding more much-needed funds to the Hurricane Ian relief efforts in Florida.

After a night like that, fans likely can't wait for the next one.

Sasha Banks Reportedly 'Done with WWE' amid Rumors About NJPW Wrestle Kingdom

Sasha Banks is reportedly coming to New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Dave Melzer of Wrestling Observer Radio confirmed Banks will be attending NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom event next month, signaling the end of her run in WWE.

"She's not going back to WWE, but you cannot always rule that out," Melzer said. "Maybe they'll just say 'She's more trouble than she's worth. She's asking for so much money.' Which is, of course, the attitude a month ago of 'Oh my god how can she ask for so much money?' January 4th Tokyo Dome and other dates, and Mercedes Vernado or whatever name she will go with, but as of right now—she's done with WWE. It can change at any moment, but that's the situation right now."

Banks has not appeared on WWE programming since she and Naomi walked out on the company in May amid frustration with booking. The departure of Vince McMahon over the summer created hope of reconciliation between the parties, as Banks and Triple H have a close relationship dating back to her days in NXT.

There has been speculation about her return for months, but it appears negotiations fell apart.

It's unclear if Banks will be setting up an in-ring program during her New Japan appearance or merely just be in attendance at Wrestle Kingdom.

Regardless, the appearance will undoubtedly spark rumors of Banks joining AEW. New Japan and AEW have a strong working relationship, and Banks has long expressed admiration for Joshi-style wrestling.

With AEW teasing a mystery tag team partner for Saraya for Jan. 11's Dynamite, the speculation will be rampant until proven otherwise.

Why Kings Should Pursue Kyle Kuzma Trade with Wizards amid Latest NBA Rumors

Change could again be on the horizon for Kyle Kuzma. After getting traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Washington Wizards in August 2021, the 27-year-old's future is a bit uncertain, as he could soon be on the move.

Kuzma, who is in his second season with the Wizards, has a $13 million player option for the 2023-24 campaign. And at this point, it doesn't seem likely he'd opt in to remain in Washington, according to a recent report by Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

"He wants out," an NBA source told Pincus of Kuzma. "He's looking for over $20 million a season and in a big market [or with a contender]."

But it's also possible Kuzma could be on a new team before opting out and becoming a free agent this upcoming summer.

Pincus reported that Kuzma has been on the radar of the Sacramento Kings, who tried to acquire him when he was previously dealt from the Lakers to the Wizards. The Kings may even have the assets to try to swing a trade for Kuzma.

"The Kings can't trade a first until 2028 (due to protections on their obligation to the Atlanta Hawks for Kevin Huerter), but they could build a deal around Harrison Barnes with that distant pick and/or prospects like Davion Mitchell," Pincus wrote.

Sacramento may not be the only team with interest in Kuzma. The Lakers are a "team to monitor," per Pincus, while the Phoenix Suns "may also see a path" and the New York Knicks are "another team to keep a close eye on."

It would make quite a bit of sense for Kuzma to end up with the Kings, though.

Sacramento has gotten off to a strong start to the 2022-23 season. It is 14-10 and in fifth place in the Western Conference, and it may be trending toward a playoff appearance. The Kings have the longest active postseason drought in the NBA, as they haven't made it since 2006. And they haven't won a playoff series since 2004.

If Sacramento is aggressive and adds the right complementary players to its talented core, then it could make a legitimate push to the postseason—and possibly even have success once it gets there. Kuzma may be the right fit to help make that happen.

A six-year NBA veteran, Kuzma is having one of his best seasons yet. He's averaging a career-high 21.4 points through 26 games, as well as 7.7 rebounds. The 6'9" standout is also shooting a career-best 46.2 percent from the field.

The best possible scenario for the Kings would be to trade for Kuzma, then sign him to a long-term deal. Because not only is he having success this season, but he's a player who they could continue to build around for the long term.

With De'Aaron Fox anchoring the backcourt and Domantas Sabonis having success down low, Kuzma would be a great third scoring option to play alongside that duo. It's a trio that seems like it would mesh well and possibly take Sacramento to greater heights.

So if the Wizards are open to moving Kuzma now, the Kings would be wise to try to put together an offer to land him. If he stays in Washington, then Sacramento should be aggressive in its pursuit of him next offseason.

Jan Błachowicz vs. Magomed Ankalaev Ends in Split Draw at UFC 282; Title Still Vacant

After five hard-fought rounds between Jan Błachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 282, the judges declared a split draw, and the light heavyweight championship remains vacated.

This marked only the fifth time in UFC history a title fight has ended in a draw:

Błachowicz showed right away that it wouldn't be an easy night for Ankalaev. He landed left kicks that forced the 30-year-old to switch stances early, setting up a storyline that would play a role throughout the fight.

The Polish veteran turned up the heat with the low kicks in the second round. Ankalaev was clearly hobbled, although he continued to throw punches that landed as well.

An already intriguing fight became even more interesting when Ankalaev finally got his first takedown in the third round. He controlled Błachowicz for the final parts of the third round, and a new path to victory was forged.

Ankalaev wasted no time in getting the fight to the mat in the championship rounds. He controlled most of the fourth and fifth rounds with his ground game, slowly accumulating damage and making his case to take the title.

The result throws the light heavyweight division into even more chaos. The main event was originally slated to be a rematch between Jiří Procházka and Glover Teixeira. However, a serious shoulder injury led Procházka to vacate the belt.

Ankalaev was supposed to fight Teixeira for the championship, but he turned down the bout citing Ankalaev's southpaw stance, per ESPN's Brett Okamoto. He wanted more time to prepare for the unique challenges the Russian presents.

Instead, the UFC replaced Teixeira with Błachowicz, who happened to win the belt the last time it was vacated.

Now, there's a bit of a logjam as Teixeira was expecting to fight the winner of the bout. Now there is no winner to fight.

"I think I'll fight the winner of the two because I'm still the No. 1 contender," Teixeira told Okamoto. "But they can take anybody they want. They can take someone not even ranked to fight for the title because it's their company. I don't know what they're going to do, but I'm here. The plan is to fight the winner. I've earned that."

Procházka will need time to heal, so there is some time for the division to get sorted out before he returns.

Paddy Pimblett Beats Jared Gordon via Unanimous Decision in UFC 282 Co-Main Event

Paddy "The Baddy" Pimblett took another step toward stardom with a unanimous decision win over Jared Gordon in the co-main event of UFC 282 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Pimblett was definitely the bigger star going into the fight but Jared Gordon wasn't there to roll over. He got off to a good start and landed some left hooks that weren't good for The Baddy.

The second round was much more interesting. Pimblett settled in and landed some good hooks and a few leg kicks, but Gordon continued to find his opponent's chin with regularity. A late flurry from Pimblett made a case for him to steal the round.

Gordon appeared to control the fight for the third round with his wrestling. He wasn't able to mount much offense out of it but he mostly neutralized Pimblett with his clinchwork and takedowns.

Ultimately, the judges saw it differently than many of the analysts watching the fight:

https://twitter.com/jeffwagenheim/status/1601809514243637248

Pimblett's potential to become a star is evident. Not only does he have the exciting style that fans want to see in the cage, but he has the personality to sell himself and his brand. That's why it comes as no surprise he's already co-headlining pay-per-views four fights into his run with the UFC.

The 27-year-old cut his teeth in Cage Warriors, the same European circuit that Conor McGregor came through, so there's always going to be some comparison between the Notorious and the Liverpool native.

For now, Pimblett hasn't reached those kinds of heights. He has a lot to prove in the cage before drawing that kind of comparison from a skills perspective.

UFC president Dana White hasn't been shy about throwing out lofty superlatives when talking about his potential.

"He has that 'it' factor that I always talk about, and you know, and obviously, he's undefeated here in the UFC. If he can keep winning these key fights, this kid will be a massive superstar," White said, per TMZ Sports.

The key to that statement is winning. It's something that Pimblett has had no issues doing thus far. Before picking up this win on the big stage, he racked up three first- or second-round finishes.

With his star on the rise, he'll have to do it against bigger names than Gordon to continue his ascent.
