Jake Paul Says Floyd Mayweather Jr. 'Needs Me More Than I Need Him'

Jake Paul thinks Floyd Mayweather Jr. is ducking him.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer says he left Mayweather off his list of potential opponents because he doesn't feel Mayweather would engage him in an actual fight.

“That’s a good question," Paul told Josh Peter of USA Today. “He, I think realized with fighting my brother, that we’re not to be messed with. He said he would only fight me if I cut down to 154 pounds, which is physically impossible. And he don’t want that smoke, man."

Mayweather fought Logan Paul in an exhibition in June. That fight was largely lambasted as a money grab by the 50-0 boxer and the YouTuber, with the latter being the far less accomplished boxer in his family.

Jake Paul is set for his fourth professional fight Aug. 28 against former UFC star Tyron Woodley. Mayweather has been training with Woodley ahead of the bout.

“If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen," Paul said of Mayweather. “But right now my focus is doing real, professional fights. I’m not trying to do any exhibitions. So if he wants to do a real pro fight at a real weight, I’m down. But I don’t want to do money fights with an old guy.

“He needs me more than I need him."

Jake Paul Says Tyron Woodley Training with Floyd Mayweather Is 'a Disadvantage'

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has experience fighting a Paul brother, and he's hoping to offer Tyron Woodley some tips ahead of his fight against Jake Paul.

The boxing legend, who fought Logan Paul in an exhibition in June, has been training with Woodley ahead of the Aug. 29 pay-per-view. Jake Paul says he's not intimidated by Mayweather's presence, calling it a "disadvantage" for Woodley:

"I think it's a disadvantage for him, actually," Paul told TMZ Sports. "Him like hopping around with different coaches, trying to learn different styles. That's not how you progress in this sport.

"Floyd didn't even have a strategy to go in and beat my brother, so how is he going to tell Tyron what to do?"

Jake Paul is 3-0 in professional boxing, beating YouTuber AnEsonGib, former NBA player Nate Robinson and former MMA star Ben Askren—all via knockout. Paul has become one of the biggest box-office smashes in the sport, signing a lucrative contract with Showtime for multiple fights.

Woodley, a former UFC welterweight champion, represents Paul's biggest challenge yet. While he's never had a professional boxing match, Woodley was a much better striker in his MMA career than Askren.

Add in some tips from Mayweather, and this may be where Paul's run ends.

Former five-division world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has reportedly purchased an $18 million mansion in Miami Beach, Florida.

Katherine Kallergis of TheRealDeal reported Thursday the home in the Palm Island neighborhood features nine bedrooms and 10.5 bathrooms.

Here's a look at some pictures of the house, via the Action Network's Darren Rovell:

The mansion, which was listed for $19.9 million, has numerous other amenities, including a gym, swimming pool, a movie theater, dock and parking space for 10 cars, per Kallergis.

Mayweather retired from professional boxing after a cross-sport encounter with Conor McGregor in August 2017. His 10th-round knockout of the UFC superstar moved his career record to 50-0.

The 44-year-old Michigan native has continued to take part in exhibitions, most recently battling YouTuber Logan Paul in June. There was speculation about a clash with Logan's brother, Jake Paul, but so far nothing has been finalized as Jake prepares to take on MMA's Tyron Woodley on Aug. 29.

Mayweather rode his dominance in the boxing ring to an estimated net worth of $450 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

The parking space at his new home in Florida figures to come in handy after an post on Instagram last week showing off 16 luxury vehicles, including multiple Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Rolls-Royces.

"I got about a hundred cards," Mayweather said. "But right here, we like to call this the sweet 16."

Mayweather's boxing career featured wins over several high-profile opponents, including Manny Pacquiao, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, Shane Mosley and Oscar De La Hoya. He also captured a bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

Manny Pacquiao Open to Floyd Mayweather Rematch, Not Interested in Jake Paul

As he continues preparing for his Aug. 21 fight with Errol Spence Jr., Manny Pacquiao isn't opposed to squaring off with Floyd Mayweather Jr. again.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Pacquiao said he's open to fighting Mayweather if the latter wants to make a comeback.

One potential opponent Pacquiao isn't interested in is Jake Paul.

"No, I will not," he said when asked about fighting Paul. "I will not. I want to fight the best to add on to my legacy."

As recently as last year, Mayweather was reportedly open to a second match with Pacquiao.

Per TMZ Sports, Mayweather was hoping to fight twice in 2020, with his ideal opponents being "against a pro boxer and another against a UFC star."

Pacquiao was one of the names being "seriously considered" by Mayweather. Nothing ultimately came of that rumor, but the money alone would make it easy to see a second fight coming together.

The first meeting between Pacquiao and Mayweather in May 2015 was the highest-grossing pay-per-view event ever with 4.6 million buys and $410 million in domestic PPV revenue. It also generated a $72.2 million gate at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Mayweather won the bout via unanimous decision. Since retiring after a 2017 fight with Conor McGregor, Mayweather has stayed in the world of boxing with two exhibition bouts against Tenshin Nasukawa and Logan Paul.

Jake Paul, meanwhile, has had a successful transition to professional boxing with three straight wins. The level of competition has left something to be desired, however, with his victories coming against YouTuber AnEsonGib, former NBA player Nate Robinson and retired mixed martial artist Ben Askren.

Pacquiao, 42, is returning to the boxing ring in August for the first time in two years. He will look to extend his winning streak to four straight when he squares off against Spence, the undefeated WBC and IBF welterweight champion.

Logan Paul Calls for Floyd Mayweather Jr. Rematch: 'I Promise I’ll Knock Him Out'

Logan Paul would like a rematch against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"Let me ask you what you would rather see, Jake Paul versus Floyd, or me versus Floyd again?" Logan said when asked by TMZ Sports if his brother Jake would ever fight Mayweather. "Because, let me tell you something, if I fight Floyd again, I promise I’ll knock him out. Promise. I've got him figured out."

It's the sort of promotional mumbo-jumbo boxers spout when they're looking to replicate a big payday. The fight itself wasn't much to witness and ended in boos—and angry tweets from unsatisfied pay-per-view customers—after eight largely uneventful and unjudged rounds.

Marc Raimondi of ESPN unofficially scored the fight 78-74 in favor of Mayweather. He landed 43 punches in the fight, to just 28 for Paul. Most of the later rounds were largely marked by the two fighters clenching.

"He's better than I thought he was," Mayweather told reporters after the match. "... I was surprised by him tonight. Good work. Good little guy."

Even Mayweather knew what the fight was—a money-making spectacle with a tiny sprinkling of boxing added in. But fans shouldn't be surprised that a YouTuber-turned-boxer and the retired 44-year-old didn't provide a memorable evening akin to the Rumble in the Jungle.

It was a grift. Mayweather literally called it as much. And a rematch would be a grift, too.

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. has continued to troll UFC star Conor McGregor, who suffered a serious leg injury in Saturday's loss to Dustin Poirier.

Mayweather posted a picture Monday depicting McGregor's injury on Instagram:

The former five-division world champion previously posted a betting slip that showcased a significant windfall from picking Poirier to win the UFC 264 main event:

Mayweather defeated McGregor by 10th-round knockout in an August 2017 boxing match for the 50th win of his undefeated boxing career.

Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, said in June a rematch was still possible.

"Most definitely," Ellerbe told reporters. "That, right there, is very personal."

McGregor, who underwent surgery on his left tibia and fibula on Monday, had expressed interest in another boxing matchup with Mayweather in a January 2020 interview with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.

"I'd like to rematch Floyd," McGregor said, calling the first fight a "great experience" despite the loss. "I think we should rematch Floyd.”

Mayweather has shifted his focus to exhibitions since the win over McGregor, facing off with Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2018 and YouTube star Logan Paul in June. It's unclear whether a potential rematch would be a pro bout or an exhibition.

For now, it appears the leader of the Money Team is content trolling the Notorious as he begins his recovery.

Retired and undefeated world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. placed a $50,000 bet at Circa Sportsbook on lightweight Dustin Poirier to defeat Conor McGregor at UFC 264's main event Saturday, and his faith was rewarded after Poirier won via first-round TKO (doctor's stoppage).

Mayweather made sure to thank Poirier after the victory:

Mayweather is known for making a litany of huge sports bets. He's had some big wins during his betting career, and now he added another one to his resume after Poirier's victory.

As for the fight, the main event was stopped after McGregor suffered a lower leg injury near the end of Round 1. Poirier was winning 10-8, 10-8 and 10-9 on the scorecards before the fight was called.
