Giants' Adoree Jackson Tests Positive for COVID-19 Ahead of Week 15, Joe Judge Says

New York Giants cornerback Adoree' Jackson tested positive for COVID-19 and has been placed on the reserve list, head coach Joe Judge told reporters Thursday.
Jackson was dealing with a quad injury that kept him out of the last two games.
New York already had six other players on the COVID-19 list, per Lance Medow of SiriusXM.
The 26-year-old has offered a mixed bag in his career. He registered 70 tackles and three forced fumbles in his 2017 rookie season and was certainly one of the better rookies at the position:
He built on that in 2018, with 73 tackles and two interceptions. He did suffer a concussion early in the season, though he didn't miss any games. In 2019, he played in just 11 games, posting 45 tackles.
He started the 2020 season on injured reserve with a knee injury and appeared in just three games in total.
His loss is a tough one for the Giants, especially with Aaron Robinson also on the reserve/COVID-19 list. It leaves minimal depth behind James Bradberry.
Giants Rumors: Jake Fromm, Mike Glennon Could Both Play Week 15 with Daniel Jones Out

The New York Giants are reportedly "considering" a plan to use both Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm at
quarterback in Sunday's Week 15 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Wednesday
that Glennon is expected to draw his third straight start while
Daniel Jones recovers from a neck injury, but Fromm could join the
mix for snaps after being signed off the Buffalo Bills' practice
squad in late November.
The Giants haven't provided a timetable
for Jones' return, and there's a "growing sentiment" among this
teammates the team will eventually shut the third-year signal-caller
down for the remainder of the season, per Ryan Dunleavy of the New
York Post.
New York owns a 4-9 record with four
games to play. It's set to miss the playoffs for the ninth time in
the past 10 years since winning Super Bowl XLVI.
Glennon has struggled across three
appearances this season. He's completed 53.3 percent of his throws
for 574 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions. He's
added one rushing score.
The NC State product is 32 and owns a
lackluster 81.5 career passer rating, so it makes sense for the
Giants to give a younger option a chance down the stretch if Jones
remains sidelined.
Fromm, 23, was a fifth-round pick of
the Bills in the 2020 draft. He served as Buffalo's No. 3 quarterback
for most of his first two seasons and has yet to make a
regular-season appearance.
He enjoyed a standout three-year
college career as a starter at Georgia. He threw 78 touchdowns and
just 18 interceptions in 43 games for the Bulldogs.
"It's been a little crazy, but it's
been fun," Fromm told reporters after signing with the Giants. "Honestly, just super excited to be here. I'm out here at practice,
but it's just football, just trying to help out any way I can."
New York may split snaps for a game or
two, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Fromm draw a couple starts
before season's end to give the coaching staff a look at whether he
could be an option as the team's chief backup in 2022.
Giants Rumors: NYG Optimistic Leonard Williams Will Play Again This Year After Injury

The New York Giants are optimistic defensive lineman Leonard Williams could play again this season after test results on his arm/elbow injury returned "better than expected," according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
Raanan noted Williams could play as early as Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
This development represents quite the turn of events. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Williams suffered an elbow injury that could be "significant" in last week's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that could rule him out for the remainder of the season.
The 2016 Pro Bowler set career highs in sacks (11.5), tackles for loss (14) and quarterback hits (30) in 2020. He parlayed his big season into a three-year, $63 million deal with the Giants that included $45 million guaranteed.
Williams, 27, is failing to keep pace with that production in 2021, though. Through 13 games, he has registered 62 tackles but just 5.5 sacks and four tackles for loss.
At 4-9, New York is in serious jeopardy of missing the playoffs for the fifth straight year, a streak that could cost general manager Dave Gettleman his job.
Taking Williams away from a pass rush that has just 25 sacks collectively (a bottom-10 mark) would add further misery for a franchise that continues to be mired in mediocrity.
Giants Rumors: Daniel Jones Not Expected to Be Cleared from Injury for Cowboys Game

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is not expected to be cleared to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 after visiting a specialist for his neck injury on Monday, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic.
Duggan noted, however, that nothing beyond this week has been ruled out, leaving Jones as week-to-week.
The 24-year-old suffered the neck injury in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles and has missed the past two games.
When he has been on the field, Jones has had a lackluster season. Through 11 appearances, the third-year starter has thrown for 2,428 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The Giants have struggled this year with a 4-9 record, which puts them in last place in the NFC East.
Jones has not performed up to expectations since being selected sixth overall in the 2019 NFL draft. He accounted for 22 interceptions and 17 lost fumbles in his first two seasons in the league. New York went 4-12 in his rookie season and 6-10 in 2020.
The Giants turned to veteran backup Mike Glennon while Jones has been out. In two starts, Glennon has thrown for 378 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. New York has scored a total of 30 points over the past two games.
They added former Georgia standout Jake Fromm off of the Buffalo Bills' practice squad and also have former Michigan State quarterback Brian Lewerke on their practice squad.
Report: Giants' Leonard Williams Feared to Have 'Significant' Elbow Injury

New York Giants defensive lineman Leonard Williams suffered "an elbow injury on Sunday that is feared to be significant," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Per that report, "He’s having tests done, but he’s going to miss time. And given how late it is during the season, there is a chance he doesn’t return."
Williams, 27, was acquired by the Giants in a surprising trade in 2019, with the rebuilding team sending a 2020 third-round pick and a 2021 fifth-rounder to the New York Jets in exchange for the veteran defensive lineman.
That gave the Giants an interesting collection of talent on the interior, as Williams joined Dalvin Tomlinson and Dexter Lawrence in the team's 3-4 scheme (Tomlinson signed with the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the 2021 season). In 2019, Williams posted 26 tackles (two for loss), 11 quarterback hits and 0.5 sacks in eight games with the Giants (five starts).
The two sides were unable to come to a long-term deal in the offseason, however, and the Giants used the franchise tag to retain him. That made 2020 a contract year for Williams, and he responded in a huge way, posting a career-high 11.5 sacks.
That earned him a three-year, $63 million contract extension, establishing him as a crucial cog in New York's front seven. He's responded with 5.5 sacks and 10 quarterback hits this year.
Now, amid a disappointing 4-9 season, the Giants may be without a crucial defensive player for the rest of the year.
For the fifth year in a row, the New York Giants will end up with a losing record. It's been another tough season for the team, and things didn't get any better on Sunday afternoon...
Giants' Daniel Jones to Undergo MRI, See Specialist for Neck Injury Monday

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will undergo an MRI on Monday, per Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.
Jones will see Dr. Frank Cammisa, whom Vacchiano described as "an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spinal conditions."
The 24-year-old has missed time this season because of a neck injury, although he was durable in his first two years and appeared in 13 games as a rookie in 2019 and 14 in 2020.
While Jones has flashed potential at times, he hasn't quite lived up to the elevated expectations that come with being the sixth overall pick of the NFL draft. He threw for 3,027 yards and 24 touchdowns as a rookie but took a step back in his second season with 2,943 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
The Duke product has followed with 2,428 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.
Mike Glennon filled in at quarterback for the Giants during Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and last week's loss to the Miami Dolphins. He will likely continue as the starter if Jones is sidelined.
Giants' Mike Glennon Clears Concussion Protocol, Will Start vs. Chargers

The New York Giants will have Mike Glennon under center for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Glennon has cleared concussion protocols and will start at quarterback.
Glennon suffered a concussion during New York's Week 13 loss to the Miami Dolphins. It's unclear when the injury occurred, as he played every offensive snap for the team.
There was a growing sense of optimism as the week has progressed that Glennon would be able to play. He was a limited participant in practice on Thursday and went through a full practice on Friday, per the team's official report.
Head coach Joe Judge told reporters before Friday's practice that "everything's on track" for Glennon to start against the Chargers.
Glennon made his first start of the season last week because Daniel Jones was unavailable with a neck injury.
Jones was a limited participant in practice this week, but he has been ruled out for Sunday. Jake Fromm, who was signed off the Buffalo Bills' practice squad on Nov. 30, will serve as Glennon's backup against the Chargers.
Glennon finished 23-of-44 for 187 yards with no touchdowns and one interception against the Dolphins. The Giants scored a season-low nine points in that game.
New York enters Week 14 only two games behind the San Francisco 49ers for the final wild card spot in the NFC, but its 4-8 record is also tied with the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks for the second-worst mark in the conference.
Giants' Joe Judge Says Punting Isn't Conservative: Depends How You Define Aggressive
Dec 10, 2021

New York Giants head coach Joe Judge was asked about the perception that his decisions are conservative while speaking with reporters Friday and addressed his approach to punting the ball, which he believes is a matter of perspective.
Judge's comments come after a 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins last Sunday. He had his team punt on a 4th-and-2, a 4th-and-3 and a 4th-and-4 during that game. The 4th-and-2 was from the Dolphins' 46-yard line when the Giants were down just 10-6 with roughly five minutes remaining in the third quarter.
“We had [forced] three straight three-and-outs at that point, and the defense was really playing well,” Judge said. “Points were really at a premium in that game. We don’t want to give them a short field.”
The Giants are fourth in the NFC East with a 4-8 record, and although they aren't technically eliminated from the postseason yet, their playoff hopes are slim.
With that being said, Judge could switch up his play-calling to be more aggressive for Sunday's matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. If that goes well, it might be time for the 39-year-old to switch things up permanently.
Just one week after scoring a 13-7 win over a division rival, the New York Giants crashed back to earth with a 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 13. It was another depressing performance from an offense that has averaged 10...
