Dana White Says He's Not Worried About Conor McGregor's Behavior After MGK Incident

UFC President Dana White isn't sweating Conor McGregor's recent run-in with musician Machine Gun Kelly at the MTV Video Music Awards.

According to Matthew Wells of MMA Junkie, White was asked if he was concerned about McGregor's antics, but he suggested such incidents are the nature of the beast in the world of MMA:

"Guys, this is the fight business. I got 700 lunatics under contract here. What do you guys think–these are the things that happen sometimes. This isn't Microsoft. We're in a crazy f--king business here.

"I think we all know Conor's personality, and we've got some guys that were like that. These guys are fighters, and this is the fight business. Crazy s--t happens in the fight business."

At the VMAs in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday, McGregor threw a drink at MGK and had to be held back by security to prevent him from getting physical with the musical artist.

Sources told TMZ that MGK denied McGregor's request for a photo and then pushed him, causing McGregor to spill his drink.

Another source close to McGregor told TMZ that McGregor tried to shake MGK's hand, MGK said something McGregor couldn't understand and then MGK's security pushed him away.

McGregor later told TMZ he has "no beef" with MGK and that it's "all love." He even invited Kelly to his next fight.

White noted that he spoke with both McGregor and MGK, who is a UFC fan, saying: "They're all good now. [It was] a misunderstanding, or whatever it was."

The 33-year-old McGregor is known for getting in altercations outside the Octagon from time to time, including when he threw a metal dolly through a bus window carrying Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

The former featherweight and lightweight champion is recovering from a broken leg he suffered in a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July.

Conor McGregor says there are no hard feelings between himself and Machine Gun Kelly despite nearly coming to blows at the MTV Video Music Awards.

McGregor told Adam Glyn the singer is invited to his next UFC bout and doesn't "even know the guy" less than 48 hours after the near-donnybrook in Brooklyn.

"Come to the next fight and watch me perform any time. I perform, no problem. Everyone's more than welcome to come to my fights or come to the shows...no beef. I don't even know the guy. I don't know him. Who he is?" McGregor said.

Video captured McGregor in a verbal shouting match and throwing his drink at Kelly before the VMAs, though details regarding the incident are still unclear. TMZ Sports reported McGregor came up to Kelly to say hello, at which point the singer said something to the fighter and set things off.

Kelly had been to previous McGregor bouts with his girlfriend, actress Megan Fox.

With no upcoming fights and not much else going on, UFC star Conor McGregor showed up to the MTV VMAs on Sunday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and promptly found himself in a squabble on the red carpet with recording artist Machine Gun Kelly.

Sources told TMZ Sports that Kelly denied McGregor a photo before the situation got to a point where Kelly shoved McGregor, who stumbled back and spilled a drink. McGregor allegedly threw the rest of his drink at Kelly after he regained his balance.

A source close to McGregor told TMZ he wanted to say hello to Kelly. The rapper reportedly said something to the fighter, though McGregor didn't hear what was said. The source said Kelly's security pushed McGregor away, with the MMA star unsure of what the issue was.

McGregor's representatives refuted that version of events.

TMZ has video of the aftermath.

McGregor is still recovering from a broken tibia he suffered during a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 and is using a cane to help him walk. The ailment required immediate surgery following the fight with McGregor saying in July that he wouldn't be ready to fight again for some time.

"I came out of the surgery and I was feeling very euphoric," McGregor said. "The job was done, it was a great job that was done and I was like, 'Yes, I've got this. This is gonna be easy. I can do this no problem.' And then I hit a wall, I'm in a lot of pain, me mobility is gonna be like this for a while. It's not gonna be a few days or even a few weeks, it's gonna be a bit of time."

John Cena Thinks Conor McGregor Would Be 'Fantastic' in WWE

John Cena believes UFC lightweight mixed martial artist Conor McGregor would be a great fit in WWE.

Cena spoke with Dan Patrick on the That Scene with Dan Patrick podcast (h/t Eric Mutter of Wrestling Inc) and provided his opinion on the matter when asked:

He'd be fantastic. He is what we do. What he does is a little less predictable. Our surprises are getting people to show up at random, and trying to weave the choose-your-own-adventure to a different alley. His surprises are getting a few teeth knocked out or getting an operation. Not to say that doesn't happen with us, mistakes happen with us. But in his profession, it's not a mistake. It's a certainty.

Cena is hoping that comes to fruition.

"I hope, because I want to see it," Cena said. "At my core, I'm a fan and he's interesting. He has a gravity about him. I want to see him perform."

The door appears wide open for McGregor if he ever chooses to make WWE appearances.

McGregor engaged in some banter with WWE Superstar and fellow Irishman Finn Balor last February, and Triple H interjected to let him know that McGregor was welcome.

Cena isn't the only person who thinks McGregor would work out in WWE. Balor said so himself in a 2017 interview with Sports Illustrated.

Matt Riddle, who made the transition from MMA to WWE, feels the same way. He spoke with Riju Dasgupta of Sportskeeda last month:

He's Conor McGregor. The guy puts butts in seats. The guy has a mouth on him. I don't know if he would pass the PG WWE code. But I guess he could do his best. At the end of the day, it's like Jake Paul or any of them...I don't know how they're doing it but they get people talking, they're controversial, they make money with fights and drama.

Do I think he'd be a good fit for WWE? If he's willing to do the work and work hard and put his time in, yeah. Just like Ronda was good. Just like I'm good. But if you think you're just going to come in, collect a payday which will probably happen and be more like a Cain (Velasquez) situation, where a guy comes in, even if he had the skills, only comes in for a show or two. I think it'd be great for business. Conor's good, marketable, and everything else.

McGregor is currently rehabbing a broken leg suffered in his first-round TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July. He's a former two-division UFC champion who previously held lightweight and featherweight titles. The 33-year-old is 22-6 as a professional.

Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz engaged in a heated Twitter exchange Tuesday.

McGregor kicked the fight off with an unprompted remark. That led to Diaz firing back, and the Twitter spat erupted (warning: the following tweets contain profanity and offensive language):

Diaz was referencing the broken leg that McGregor suffered during his first-round TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July. As for the "Calis mine" comment, MMA Fighting's Damon Martin noted that McGregor is in Los Angeles for rehab. Diaz fights out of Stockton, California.

It only got uglier from there, with both men firing back and forth. Diaz said that McGregor ran from him and claimed retired UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Poirier did the same.

Diaz also referenced Khabib's submission victory over McGregor in 2018. McGregor defended himself, referencing the all-out brawl his camp and Khabib's had. He also said that he broke his own leg by accident during the Poirier fight.

More tweets dropped from McGregor showing him pummeling Diaz.

Eventually, Diaz and McGregor agreed to say goodbye but not before firing off a few more expletives to finish it off.

McGregor and Diaz have faced each other in the Octagon twice before.

The first time ended with Diaz beating McGregor, who was making his welterweight debut, with a second-round rear-naked choke in March 2016.

McGregor got revenge the second time around, earning a majority decision win eight-and-a-half months later.

Jake Paul on Conor McGregor's Tweet After Tyron Woodley Fight: 'I'm Salivating Too'

Conor McGregor tweeted he was "salivating" after Jake Paul beat Tyron Woodley by a split decision on Sunday night in an eight-round matchup.

Paul responded to that tweet by telling reporters he was "on the path to a lot bigger fights," said he was "salivating too" and added that McGregor needs to get back in the ring and earn some wins before Paul would consider that matchup [NSFW language]:

It's a touch humorous that Paul thinks McGregor is the one who needs to earn a potential matchup between the pair, considering Paul's four wins in his boxing career have come against YouTuber AnEsonGib, former NBA player Nate Robinson, a former MMA fighter in Ben Askren and Woodley.

While Askren and Woodley have extensive fighting experience, neither boxed professionally before facing Paul.

Suffice to say, Paul has never faced an actual boxer. And he's never faced a striker on the level of McGregor, who has stepped into the boxing ring against Floyd Mayweather.

That isn't to diminish Paul's close win over Woodley, who brought plenty of power to the matchup and staggered Paul in the fourth round.

"I learned a lot tonight," Paul told reporters after the fight. "First time going back past four minutes. First time in an eight-round fight. ... To be honest, I won convincingly. We're gonna go back to the drawing board. I think I proved a lot tonight and proved a lot of people wrong."

Woodley did not agree with the assertion that Paul won convincingly.

"I thought I won, to be honest," he said. "I was surprised it was a split decision. I thought it was close. ... My demeanor and my emotion is because I wanted to knock him out. I had a couple big shots I landed, a couple opportunities, and I think I had him hurt and I had him tired a couple times and I didn't press him. I should have pressed him a little more."

As for McGregor, he is just 1-3 in the Octagon since 2018, which has included a loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov and two losses to Dustin Poirier. He is currently recovering from a broken leg suffered in his most recent loss to Poirier.

Conor McGregor Slams Khabib over Comments About Jose Aldo, Donald Cerrone

Conor McGregor has once again taken to social media to fire shots at Khabib Nurmagomedov.

After video of a press conference showing Nurmagomedov criticizing several fighters, including McGregor and Jose Aldo, made its way around the internet, the Irishman responded on Twitter (warning: contains profanity):

https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/1429152341899452417

The English translation of the quotes in the video McGregor responded to read:

"[Aldo] got beat up when he fought ... Petr [Yan] right? A guy wins one fight and everyone starts talking. When Conor fought Cowboy [Cerrone] he looked like a lion. When he fights stronger opponents he looks like a scared chicken.

"Fighting top fighters shows your worth. ... A fight against Cowboy won't show what level you're at. Just like Aldo's fight against Pedro Munhoz. Let him fight Petr the same way and then we can say he's peaking again."

Nurmagomedov's comments weren't that inflammatory.

Aldo rebounded from his loss to Yan with back-to-back unanimous-decision wins over Marlon Vera and Pedro Munhoz, but it's been several years since the 34-year-old was regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

Cerrone entered his fight against McGregor coming off two straight losses. He was dropped 40 seconds into the first round by McGregor for a TKO loss. The 38-year-old is winless in his past six fights dating back to June 2019.

Despite the clamoring for a second bout between Nurmagomedov and McGregor, which has remained a topic of discussion amid repeated barbs thrown in both directions, there doesn't appear to be any indication that the Eagle is going to end his retirement for another UFC bout.

Nurmagomedov announced he was stepping away from mixed martial arts after defeating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in October. He retired from the sport with a perfect 29-0 record, including 13 straight wins in the UFC dating back to 2012.

McGregor will likely be out until 2022 after suffering a broken tibia in the first round of his fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on July 10.

Dustin Poirier Says He'll Entertain 4th Fight vs. Conor McGregor 'If It Makes Sense'

Dustin Poirier went on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani on Monday and spoke about a variety of topics, including the possibility of a fourth fight with Conor McGregor.

Steven Marrocco of MMA Fighting provided the quotes.

“We’ll see what happens. I’m not sitting back waiting to fight him a fourth time. If it makes sense and it comes about, we’ll do it again. I’m just training and living my life. My daughter just started her first day of school today. I’m having fun trying to continue to grow as a martial artist.

“I’m not committing to anything. I haven’t spoken to the UFC about the title fight or their timeline. I haven’t been reached out [to] by the company. Anything’s possible, but we’ll go with what makes the most sense.”

The 32-year-old Poirier is next in line to challenge UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira for his belt.

He earned that honor after beating McGregor twice this year—once by second-round TKO in January and the second time via TKO (doctor's stoppage) following the first round after the Irishman suffered a broken leg.

The latter win polished off a trilogy victory for Poirier, who fell to McGregor when the two first met in Sept. 2014. McGregor won that bout via first-round TKO.

As Marrocco noted, any potential McGregor-Poirier rematch would have to depend on McGregor's recovery as he looks to recover from the gruesome injury.

But Poirier is looking to claim the undisputed lightweight belt for the first time ever at this point. He previously won the interim lightweight belt but lost a chance at the title when he fell to Khabib Nurmagomedov in Sept. 2019.

UFC president Dana White said in July that a fourth Poirier-McGregor fight will happen:

Poirier also said after his latest win that he would fight McGregor "whether it's in the Octagon or on the sidewalk" after the latter fighter's vicious and offensive trash talking, which included death threats, per Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN:

“There’s no holds barred with the trash talk, right? But murder isn’t something you clown around with. There’s no coming back from that and this guy was saying he was going to murder me and all kinds of stuff.

He was telling me he was going to kill me tomorrow (and that I) was going to leave here in a coffin. You don’t talk like that to people, man. I hope this guy gets home safely to his beautiful family, you know?”

McGregor clearly wants another shot at Poirier as well, saying as much in the Octagon to Joe Rogan as he sat with a broken leg:

For now, McGregor needs to recover, and Poirier has his eyes on the lightweight belt.
