Kevin Owens Defeats Sami Zayn at WWE WrestleMania 37

Apr 12, 2021

Kevin Owens defeated longtime friend and rival Sami Zayn in a grudge match at WrestleMania 37 on Night 2 of WrestleMania 37 on Sunday.

KO hit a stunner to seal the victory over The Great Liberator, but the action did not finish there.

Zayn was left incensed when his guest of honor, Logan Paul, congratulated Owens after the contest. The YouTuber pushed him over in response and then raised KO's hand.

The situation did not sit well with KO, who delivered a stunner to flatten Paul, much to the delight of the fans inside Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Owens and Zayn go back many years after rising through the ranks on the independent wrestling scene together and becoming close friends in the process before both of them signed with WWE.

Over the past several years, they have alternated between being friends and foes in WWE, but they entered WrestleMania 37 in the middle of a heated rivalry.

Their issues stemmed from the fact that Zayn wanted KO to be part of his attempt to expose an alleged conspiracy against him in WWE. He is convinced the higher-ups in WWE have it out for him, and he has been followed by two cameramen over the past few months in an effort to gather evidence.

When Owens made it clear he wasn't interested in joining forces, The Great Liberator took it personally and took him out with a Helluva Kick while KO was on commentary for his match against Baron Corbin on March 19.

The following week, Zayn apologized for his actions and suggested they occurred in the heat of the moment, but Owens was still furious and demanded that his rival face him at WrestleMania unless he wanted to get beaten to a pulp.

Zayn agreed under duress, but Owens made him pay anyway by pummeling his former best friend in retaliation for the Helluva Kick.

Another aspect of the Owens vs. Zayn rivalry was the involvement of YouTube star Paul, who Zayn had been corresponding with in an effort to get more exposure for his conspiracy documentary.

Paul seemed to agree that The Great Liberator was being treated unfairly, which led to him appearing on the April 2 episode of SmackDown for the red-carpet premiere of the documentary.

Owens and Zayn didn't necessarily need Paul, but it got more eyes on their feud, which they deserved considering how great their work has been over the years.

Zayn vs. Owens is a match and rivalry that has always been fit for the WrestleMania stage, and fans finally got to witness it this year in addition to celebrating a KO victory.

WWE WrestleMania 37: Predicting Most Likely Swerves

Apr 6, 2021

One of the most exciting aspects about WrestleMania is that seemingly anything can happen, and the potential for surprises is undoubtedly present this year.

The WrestleMania 37 card is essentially set, and some of the matches seem fairly predictable on the surface. But WWE always finds a way to pull off something the fans aren't expecting.

When the top Superstars in WWE go to battle on The Grandest Stage of Them All this weekend at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, here are a few swerves that could add even more excitement to the event.

Lesnar Appears After McIntyre vs. Lashley

It has been one year since Brock Lesnar last appeared on WWE programming, as he dropped the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre in the main event of WrestleMania 36.

The Scot will look to win the title back at The Showcase of the Immortals this year when he takes on Bobby Lashley in one of the top matches on Night 1 of WrestleMania 37.

While Lesnar has not been seen in a year, McIntyre has been mentioning last year's win over The Beast Incarnate quite often recently, which could be a sign that the former MMA star is in line to make his highly anticipated return.

Assuming McIntyre beats Lashley for the WWE Championship and gets his big moment in front of the fans after being robbed of it last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it would be the perfect time for Lesnar to resurface by attacking him.

Not only would The Beast be coming back in the biggest spot possible and in front of a live crowd, but he would also be getting revenge for last year's loss to The Scottish Warrior.

That could then set the stage for a revival of the singles feud between Lesnar and McIntyre, or perhaps even mark the beginning for a three-man rivalry with Lashley also involved.

There's plenty of unfinished business between McIntyre and Lesnar, plus fans have been clamoring for Lashley vs. Lesnar for quite some time, meaning it makes all the sense in the world for The Beast to get involved in some way.

Logan Paul Helps Owens Beat Zayn

The longtime rivalry between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will come to a head at WrestleMania 37 when they clash in a singles match on the biggest stage in wrestling for the first time.

The pair have been close friends in real life for years, and they have both fought each other and together on numerous occasions during their time in WWE.

Currently, their feud is based around Zayn's theory that the company is conspiring against him. In recent months, he has been followed around by two cameramen who have been documenting the apparent conspiracy.

In an effort to get more eyes on the alleged conspiracy, Zayn began reaching out to YouTube star Logan Paul. After Paul responded on Twitter, Zayn invited him to the red-carpet premiere of his documentary trailer.

Paul is seemingly on Zayn's side entering WrestleMania 37, and he could play a role in his match against Owens, especially since he is being advertised to appear as Zayn's guest.

The Paul situation has the makings of what happened with Mike Tyson entering WrestleMania 14. While the former boxer was aligned with Shawn Michaels and D-Generation X prior to the event, he ended up helping "Stone Cold" Steve Austin beat HBK for the WWE Championship in the main event.

Zayn's character may go into WrestleMania with the expectation that Paul will help him, but the YouTuber will instead aid KO in beating The Great Liberator, which will add even more fuel to the fire regarding his conspiracy theory.

Murphy Spurns Rollins vs. Cesaro

Seth Rollins and Cesaro have engaged in one of the most personal rivalries in WWE recently, and they will aim to settle their differences at WrestleMania 37.

The Swiss Cyborg has gotten the better of Rollins on a few occasions already by swinging him, and it stands to reason that the diabolical heel will look for every advantage and short cut possible to get back at him.

One possible wild card with regard to their match is Murphy, who was formerly a disciple of Rollins and seemed to express interest in joining forces with him once again a few weeks ago.

Murphy faced Cesaro a couple of times leading up to WrestleMania in an apparent attempt to impress Rollins, who interfered on one occasion by taking the Swiss wrestler out with a Stomp.

There was no real finality to the angle between The Messiah and Murphy, as Rollins took time off for the birth of his daughter with fiancee Becky Lynch and the Australian's storyline with the Mysterio family simply vanished.

Going back to the well with Rollins and Murphy after WrestleMania would make sense because of that, and match between Rollins and Cesaro at The Show of Shows could be a good way to set it up.

Perhaps Rollins will think The Best Kept Secret is there to help him, only to aid Cesaro instead, thus revitalizing the Rollins vs. Murphy program.

WWE Rumors: Logan Paul 'Definitely Involved' with Owens vs. Zayn at WrestleMania

It turns out Logan Paul's upcoming SmackDown appearance won't just be a one-off.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer said Paul will be part of the scheduled match between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at WrestleMania.

“Logan Paul is going to be involved in the match. I don’t know if he’s going to referee or what, but he’s definitely involved. The idea is Bad Bunny on Saturday and Logan Paul on Sunday as the big celebrities," Meltzer said.

Zayn revealed Paul would be appearing on this Friday's SmackDown as he prepares to debut the "documentary" he's been filming about WWE's conspiracy against him.

WWE booking Paul as part of the Zayn-Owens feud will undoubtedly come as a disappointment to the hardcore wrestling fan, as a Zayn-Owens WrestleMania match has long been on the shortlist of most-desired matches. Zayn and Owens have a storied history together that dates back to their history on the independent circuit, being best friends turned rivals...turned best friends and then back to rivals and so on.

With the two competitors still well in their primes, this feud appeared to be something designed to satiate the hardcore crowd. Instead, WWE's decided to mix what should on paper be a show-stealing match with its desire to branch out and touch the mainstream.

Bad Bunny's match with The Miz is the "mainstream" angle of WrestleMania's first night and generally makes sense. Bad Bunny has been a regular part of WWE programming since the Royal Rumble, starting a long-simmering feud with The Miz that will pay off on the Grandest Stage. Paul is being thrown into a well-established, long-running rivalry with less than two weeks remaining before WrestleMania.

That's also without mentioning Paul's status as a polarizing figure in the public after he filmed and released a video of a man who hung himself in Japan.

Logan Paul to Appear on WWE SmackDown as Sami Zayn's 'Guest of Honor'

WWE Superstar Sami Zayn announced on Friday Night SmackDown that American YouTuber and professional boxer Logan Paul will be his guest of honor at the red carpet premiere of his documentary, which purports to show a conspiracy lodged against him by WWE.

Zayn and Paul interacted on Twitter earlier this week, with Paul appearing to agree with the two-time intercontinental champion's take:

Zayn made the Paul announcement during "The KO Show," hosted by WWE Superstar Kevin Owens. By the time the segment was over, Zayn and Owens agreed to a match at WrestleMania, which is taking place on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11 in Tampa, Florida.

As for the red carpet premiere, that's set to occur on the April 2 edition of SmackDown.
