NASCAR at Dover 2022 to Resume Monday After Inclement Weather

Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover Motor Speedway has been postponed until Monday at noon ET after rain showers halted the race just 78 laps in.
Kyle Larson, the defending Cup Series champion, was the leader when the race was red-flagged. Chase Elliott was in second, and Ryan Blaney was in third.
Denny Hamlin, who led the race for 55 laps before the stoppage, finished the day in eighth after making a pit stop just before the red flag was waved.
NASCAR fans were disappointed with the news, with many believing the race should have started around noontime because rain was forecasted and the track still has yet to install lights for night racing.
In order for a NASCAR race to be official, it needs to be halfway finished.
This is the first Cup Series race to be postponed for weather this season. If Larson were to win Monday, it would be his second of the season and first since Feb. 27.
Last weekend's race at Talladega Superspeedway saw Ross Chastain capture his second career win. He passed both Larson and Erik Jones off Turn 4 in the last lap for an exciting win. His first victory came at Circuit of the Americas on March 27.
After Monday's race concludes, drivers will begin preparing for the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway on May 8.
NASCAR at Martinsville 2022 Results: William Byron Earns 2nd Win of Season

MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA - APRIL 09: William Byron, driver of the #24 RaptorTough.com Chevrolet, leads the field during the NASCAR Cup Series Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 at Martinsville Speedway on April 09, 2022 in Martinsville, Virginia. (Photo by Meg Oliphant/Getty Images)
Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron won the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 at Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Virginia, in overtime for his second win of the 2022 season.
Byron is now the first multi-race winner of the year.
The race went to overtime after Todd Gilliland lost a tire and hit the outside wall and brought out the caution flag with six laps remaining. Before the caution came out, Byron had led for much of the race after taking over the lead from Hendrick teammate Chase Elliott after 185 laps.
Byron was able to capture the lead from Elliott, who won both Stage 1 and Stage 2, by winning the race off pit road between the second and third stages. He then led for practically the entire race and easily beat Joey Logano and Austin Dillon after deciding not to pit ahead of the restart.
Saturday's race had just four total cautions. Only two weren't stage cautions. It was the least number of cautions at Martinsville since 1997. The first caution came out when Denny Hamlin's No. 11 Toyota stalled with less than 100 laps left. The second came when Gilliland hit the wall with six laps remaining.
It was an incredible race for Byron, who led a race-high 212 laps, but it just wasn't competitive. There wasn't a single pass for the lead on the track on Saturday night, and it brought out some questions about the Next Gen car on short tracks.
Here's what pisses me off about this snoozefest: I'm worried it's going to hurt the case for more short tracks. And that's bullshit, because it's not the track. But when you look at Richmond/Martinsville the last two weeks, something about this car doesn't fit short tracks so far
Byron's other win came in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March. This is the first multi-win season of his career.
Other winners this season include Austin Cindric, Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, Chase Briscoe, Ross Chastain and Denny Hamlin.
The Cup Series will hit the dirt next weekend for the Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. After that comes the Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.
When the NASCAR Cup Series rolls into Martinsville Speedway in Virginia this Saturday for the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400, it will mark the 3rd night race hosted by the .526 mile oval in Cup Series history...

Anyone who has always wanted to live in a mansion that features an indoor aquarium and was previously owned by a NASCAR champion is in luck.
Assuming, of course, that someone is willing and able to pay around $30 million.
Tony Stewart is selling his luxury log cabin, which covers nearly 20,000 square feet and sits on 415 acres outside of Columbus, Indiana, per WTHR. It includes a hunting preserve, the aquarium, a bowling alley, a golf simulator and an in-home gym.
"This is truly my dream home," Stewart said of the Hidden Hollow Ranch, which is zoned as a bed and breakfast. "We enjoyed every square inch of the land here. This became my place to get away and relax with my family and friends."
The home features six bedrooms, eight full bathrooms and a six-car garage. Just for good measure, there is also a 3,500-square-foot guest house.
The listing price of $30 million is more than $13 million higher than the second-highest listing in the state.
Two years have passed since NASCAR was circling the track at Auto Club Speedway, but now it's back for the Wise Power 400...
Bubba Wallace on 2nd-Place Daytona 500 Finish: I'll Be 'Pissed Off' for a While

Bubba Wallace just missed the first Daytona 500 victory of his career Sunday when Austin Cindric held off his late charge in the final seconds.
"I'mma be pissed off about this one for a while," Wallace said after the race. "I was happy on the first second place that we got a couple years ago. This one sucks when you're that close. But all in all happy for my team, happy for our partners and on to California."
Cindric won after a number of drivers were bunched together for the final restart in overtime.
Wallace made a move to go low, while Cindric went up to block Ryan Blaney. Still, that left a sprint to the finish between Cindric and Wallace.
It was Cindric's first NASCAR Cup Series win of his career.
Wallace is accustomed to finishing in second place at Daytona at this point. He was also the top runner-up in 2018 when Austin Dillon won, but that was earlier in his career and seemed to signal he would be a threat in this famous race for years to come.
His comments indicate his mood is much different this time around.
Cindric and Wallace made the charge at the end, but Martin Truex Jr. won the first two stages. The opening stage also featured a crash that sent Harrison Burton airborne and upside down for a moment. That crash eliminated three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin, as well as Burton, William Byron and Ross Chastain.
There was also a red flag in the final 10 laps because of a crash involving Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick. Wallace avoided that one and remained in the race when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made contact with him on the restart.
Unfortunately for the second-place finisher, he was unable to track down Cindric at the end.
Austin Cindric Celebration Highlights, Reaction After 2022 Daytona 500 Win

Austin Cindric won a NASCAR Cup Series win for the first time in his career on Sunday.
And it just so happened to take place at the Daytona 500.
The 23-year-old held off a late charge by Ryan Blaney and Bubba Wallace at Daytona International Speedway and earned the ensuing celebration:
While Cindric was the winner, it appeared as if Martin Truex Jr. was going to cruise to a victory when he captured the first two stages. That opening stage included a scary scene when Brad Keselowski pushed Harrison Burton into William Byron and Kyle Busch and caused a multicar pileup.
Burton ended up upside down after going airborne, and three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin, Burton, Byron and Ross Chastain were all eliminated in the aftermath of the crash.
Truex escaped that one, but his chances at winning took a major hit when Tyler Reddick went into the wall as part of a crash that sent the Stage 1 and 2 winner to the back of the lead lap.
The drama carried into crunch time when the red flag came out with nine laps remaining. Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick were involved in a multicar wreck, but Wallace made it by there and again when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made contact with him on the ensuing restart.
That set the stage for Wallace to make the late charge, but Cindric was in control for the entire push toward the checkered flag. Blaney, Cindric's teammate, made a move on the final straightaway, but Cindric went wide to block him and secure the win.
While Cindric may not challenge for a NASCAR Cup Series championship this year, it was a monumental win on one of the sport's biggest stages.
Daytona 500 2022 Results: Rookie Austin Cindric Edges Bubba Wallace in OT for Win

In just his eighth NASCAR Cup Series start ever, Team Penske driver Austin Cindric won the 2022 Daytona 500 in overtime, edging Bubba Wallace for the victory Sunday.
Cindric's Team Penske teammate, Ryan Blaney, hit the wall while trying to pass Cindric before the checkered flag came out. A big crash broke out behind the leaders after they crossed the finish line.
Cindric's victory comes on Roger Penske's 85th birthday. It is Penske's third Daytona 500 win as an owner. Joey Logano previously won the Great American Race for Team Penske in 2015, and Ryan Newman won in 2008.
The race went to overtime as a result of two multicar wrecks in the final 10 laps, including a red flag that came out on Lap 191. The crash took Chris Buescher, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Larson out of the race.
Both crashes greatly reduced the list of contenders as Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who led for 16 laps, also crashed with just five laps remaining after losing the lead on a restart. He lost control of his car after Brad Keselowski bumped him.
Martin Truex Jr. appeared to be the favorite early after winning the first two stages, but his race came to an end early after he got caught up in a multicar crash that included Tyler Reddick and Kurt Busch with 48 laps left. Truex, 41, was attempting to win his first Daytona 500 in his 18th try.
More competitors were eliminated with just two laps remaining in the first stage. Harrison Burton was taken out of the race when he went airborne after a bump from Keselowski. His crash took out Denny Hamlin, Ross Chastain, Christopher Bell and William Byron.
Hamlin was attempting to win his fourth Daytona 500. He previously won in 2016, 2019 and 2020. Cale Yarborough and Richard Petty are the only two drivers to have won the race at least four times. Petty won it seven times.
Cindric is the son of Team Penske executive Tim Cindric. He made his first NASCAR national series start in the 2015 Truck Series when he was just 16 years old. He was a full-time driver in the Truck Series in 2017 and moved to the Xfinity Series full-time in 2018.
Cindric has 13 total wins in the Xfinity Series and 89 top-10 finishes. He was the 2020 Xfinity Series champion and only recently began racing full-time in the Cup Series.
While it's surprising that Cindric took home the win in this year's Daytona 500, don't be surprised if you see him on the podium again this season.

There was a scary scene near the end of Stage 1 in Sunday's Daytona 500.
As Chris Estrada of NBC Sports noted, Brad Keselowski pushed Harrison Burton and ended up sending the NASCAR Cup Series rookie into William Byron and Kyle Busch. Burton went airborne and went upside down in the multicar pileup:
The NASCAR Cup Series begins the 2022 season at the Daytona 500 with some familiar storylines in play. Reigning Cup Series champion Kyle Larson made an early statement about his ...
