Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Swansea City booked their tickets for the next round of the FA Cup on Sunday, winning their respective fifth-round ties.

Wolves narrowly edged past Bristol City in controversial fashion, while Palace cruised to a win over Doncaster Rovers. Swansea came from behind to beat Brentford.

Here are Sunday's results:

Bristol City 0-1 Wolves

Doncaster Rovers 0-2 Crystal Palace

Swansea City 4-1 Brentford

Watford, Brighton, Millwall and Manchester City had already booked their spots in the next round. Chelsea and Manchester United will battle it out for the final ticket on Monday. Kick-off will be at 7:30 p.m. GMT/2:30 p.m. ET.

Ivan Cavaleiro scored the only goal in Wolves' narrow win over Bristol City, but the VAR―or rather lack thereof―was the main talking point after the opening match of Sunday's slate.

An apparent handball from Matt Doherty in the build-up to the goal and a similar offence in the second half in his own area gave the hosts plenty to fume about. VAR likely would have intervened in both situations had the system been approved for all FA Cup fifth-round ties, rather than a select few, as Nick Ames of the Guardian noted:

It was a cruel blow for Championship side City, who put together a spirited performance against Premier League side Wolves after a difficult start. The team has been on an absolute tear of late, entering this tie on a lengthy winning streak and making a strong push for promotion.

Jeffrey Schlupp gave the Eagles an early lead away at Doncaster Rovers, setting the tone for a relatively quiet afternoon for Crystal Palace.

Former England international Gary Lineker couldn't help himself:

Sitting in sixth place in League One, Rovers were disappointing and never looked likely to challenge Palace on Sunday. When Max Meyer doubled the lead with a wonderful team goal, the tie was all but over:

Swansea pushed ahead into the next round by winning an all-Championship tie against Brentford, despite going behind in the first half.

Ollie Watkins gave the visitors the lead, but the Swans came out firing in the second half and quickly surged ahead:

Luke Daniels and Daniel James turned the tie on its head, and when Ezri Konsa was sent off for a second bookable offence, the match was all but over. Bersant Celina and George Byers added gloss to the scoreline.

Chelsea vs. Manchester United: FA Cup 2019 Odds, Live Stream, TV Info

Feb 17, 2019

The marquee matchup of the 2018-19 FA Cup fifth round will play out on Monday, as Chelsea play host to Manchester United in a rematch of last year's final.

Oddschecker shows that bookmakers have installed the hosts as the favourites with even odds, while United come in at 29-10. A draw (after 90 minutes) carries odds of 11-4.

Monday's clash will be broadcast on BBC One, with live-streaming options available via the BBC iPlayer (for UK viewers) and ESPN+ (for U.S. viewers).

Monday's outing falls during the middle of a busy and vital stretch for both teams, and both Maurizio Sarri and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be forced into making some difficult choices.

Chelsea are coming off a 2-1 win at Malmo in the UEFA Europa League, a much-needed positive result after a difficult stretch domestically. The Blues have lost two of their past three Premier League matches and are sliding down the standings, needing to recover fast to keep their bid for a top-four finish alive.

Sarri and his troops will be in action again on Thursday for the return leg against Malmo, but he could opt to play some fringe players in that contest and use his top starters on Monday.

The Blues know it won't be an easy outing, as assistant Gianfranco Zola was full of praise of the Red Devils:

Solskjaer will face even more difficult choices. His unbeaten start at the club came to an end on Tuesday, as Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain easily handled the Red Devils at Old Trafford, winning 2-0.

According to WhoScored.com United came out of that match with a host of injury concerns, with Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez all possibly unavailable on Monday. And with a visit from Liverpool in the Premier League on the schedule for the following Sunday, Solskjaer may be forced into even more rotations.

The interim boss said the PSG loss won't change the way United approach matches:

Chelsea have the home-field advantage and fewer injury concerns, but with two high-profile cup ties in one week―they are set to face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday―sandwiching the Malmo fixture, the schedule is not in their favour.

This contest may come down to whichever manager is more willing to trust his starters, but that may carry major risks down the road.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 United

Saturday Recap

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola made seven changes to the side that beat Chelsea 6-0 on Sunday, but star names such as Ederson, John Stones, David Silva and Leroy Sane were still included:

The pitch at Rodney Parade also provided a talking point ahead of kick-off:

The hosts had the best chance of the opening exchanges. Mickey Demetriou's throw-in was flicked on to Tyreeq Bakinson at the far post, but Ederson just managed to claw it away.

City did have chances of their own in the first half. Leroy Sane skimmed the bar with a shot after exchanging passes with Silva, while the visitors were unfortunate not to win a penalty for a handball against Mark O'Brien:

They finally made the breakthrough early in the second half. Sane swapped passes with Jesus and smashed a shot toward the near post. Goalkeeper Joe Day managed to get his hands to the ball but could not prevent it going over the line.

Youngster Phil Foden added a second with just over 15 minutes of normal time remaining, running from the halfway line and slipping a low effort past Day.

Newport gave their fans hope in the 88th minute when Padraig Amond kept up his record of scoring in every round of the competition this season by dinking over Ederson.

City responded quickly to the setback with goals from Foden and Mahrez to add some gloss to the scoreline.

Brighton ensured there was no FA Cup upset on the south coast with a narrow victory over Frank Lampard's Derby.

Anthony Knockaert swept home Yves Bissouma's cross just after the half-hour mark to open the scoring for the hosts.

They doubled their lead just before half-time when Jurgen Locadia tapped into an empty net after Bissouma's low shot had rebounded off the post:

Brighton might have added a third after the break, but goalkeeper Kelle Roos saved well from Knockaert and Bernardo.

Derby set up a frantic finish when Ashley Cole guided a header into an empty net with just under 10 minutes remaining after a poor clearance from Dan Burn:

The visitors pressed for an equaliser in the closing stages. Harry Wilson fired wide and Fikayo Tomori went close with an acrobatic effort, but Brighton managed to hang on and progress to the quarter-finals.

Friday Recap

QPR managed to contain their Premier League opposition well in the first half at Loftus Road. Watford saw plenty of the ball but struggled to carve out many clear-cut chances.

Luke Freeman was at the heart of QPR's best work going forward. The winger caused Watford problems with his running with the ball and delivery into the penalty area:

However, the hosts were undone just before half-time. A Watford corner was only cleared as far as Tom Cleverley on the edge of the box. The midfielder mishit his shot but the ball fell to Capoue to sweep home:

QPR piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser in the second half but could not find a way past goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.

They were a little fortunate to escape going 2-0 down after Andre Gray ran through and rounded Joe Lumley but was harshly flagged for offside.

QPR manager Steve McClaren sent on Tomer Hemed and Eberechi Eze in search of some attacking inspiration, and his team had a chance to snatch an equaliser with just minutes remaining.

Freeman's low ball across goal found Toni Leistner sliding in at the far post, but he could only send it wide from a matter of yards.

After suffering a morale-sapping defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, Manchester United will look to bounce back against a Chelsea team facing an identity crisis.

The Blues began the season in fine form under head coach Maurizio Sarri, but they have failed to maintain their rhythm.

United have been in great shape after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho in December. However, caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer experienced his first loss in 12 games in all competitions on Tuesday.

The Norwegian also watched two of his most important players, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard, limp off against PSG.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - FEBRUARY 12: Manchester United Head Coach / Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer consoles Alexis Sanchez of Manchester United at the end of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 First Leg match between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Ger

According to Chris Wheeler for MailOnline, the pair could miss the trip to Stamford Bridge, leaving United short of the mobility Solskjaer has relied upon.

Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku have been on the fringes of the starting XI under the interim boss. The Chile international was poor against PSG, but Solskjaer might have little choice but to start both men on Monday evening.

Sarri has admitted he is feeling the heat at Chelsea after his side were deconstructed by a rampant Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday. The 6-0 loss was unprecedented, and the Blues have not been at their best recently.

The potential absence of Martial and Lingard would be a blessing for the hosts, allowing Sarri to control the game without the threat of a high press—a tactic City used to humble Chelsea's midfield and defence.

United do not have the weapons the Premier League champions possess, though, and Solskjaer might have to find a fresh tactical plan to keep his team moving forward.

This might not turn out to be the greatest day in Newport's history. Reformed in 1989 after going out of business, the Welsh team face the most daunting of prospects against, arguably, the best team on the planet.

City are starting to hit top form. Manager Pep Guardiola has his squad in ruthless shape, and Newport could be blown away by their opponents.

The League Two side are hovering in mid-table, and they do not possess the acumen needed for such an encounter.

However, shock results are what make the FA Cup special, and a win for manager Mike Flynn's side would constitute one of the biggest upsets in British football history.

Guardiola will surely rotate his starting XI, with a host of players desperate for minutes before they enter the final weeks of the season.

The former Barcelona boss has respected the FA Cup by fielding strong teams, and City will want to finish the tie as early as possible.

The race for silverware is about to become red-hot as the season enters its final stretch. City will be at the business end of the chase, and they will hope to find themselves at Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup final.

FA Cup holders Chelsea will face Manchester United in the marquee fixture of the 2018-19 FA Cup fifth round.

Premier League champions Manchester City were drawn against the winner of the replay between Middlesbrough and Newport County, while Watford visit the winner of the tie between Queens Park Rangers and Portsmouth.

Here's a look at the full draw (Barnet and Brentford will play their tie Monday night, while there are four more fourth-round replays still to come):

Bristol City v Shrewsbury/Wolves

Wimbledon v Millwall

Doncaster Rovers v Crystal Palace

Middlesbrough/Newport v Manchester City

Chelsea v Manchester United

Swansea City v Barnet/Brentford

Queens Park Rangers/Portsmouth v Watford

Brighton/West Brom v Derby County

Per the FA's official website, the fifth-round fixtures will be played on the weekend of 16 February.

According to BBC Sport's Neil Johnston the fifth round will not have any replays, with all matches played to a conclusion.

There's little doubt which fixture neutral fans will look forward to the most. With just a handful of Premier League teams left in the draw a clash between elite clubs was unlikely, but the draw served up a mouth-watering tie between Chelsea and United.

Goal were understandably excited:

As shared by sportswriter John Bennett, it was great news for the smaller clubs left in the draw and should give the Premier League's also-rans food for thought:

United have a perfect record since the introduction of interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but that may actually work against them in the FA Cup. A top-four finish in the Premier League suddenly seems possible and the UEFA Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain no longer as daunting; the Norwegian could opt to rest his key starters in the cup.

The Blues will also have to balance the Premier League and UEFA Europa League. The cup fixtures will take place just days after the first legs of the European competitions.

It will likely give City a chance to rest their starters against either Middlesbrough or Newport. The former are chasing a play-off spot in the Championship and may opt to focus on that competition, while the latter are cruising along in League Two with a safe buffer between themselves and the relegation zone.

City fans will have the opportunity to scout both teams when they battle it out in the replay on 5 February:

League One Doncaster Rovers were unlucky with their draw, as Crystal Palace will provide a difficult challenge without yielding the players a unique visit to a Premier League stadium. They were likely hoping for an elite club or a side from a lower division.

Non-league Barnet will be rewarded with a trip to Swansea if they can beat Brentford on Monday night.

Tottenham Hotspur suffered their second cup exit in a week after being dumped out of the FA Cup on Sunday at Crystal Palace.

Spurs were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Thursday and suffered more misery at Selhurst Park, as goals from Connor Wickham and Andros Townsend sent the hosts into the fifth round.

Meanwhile, Chelsea avoided an upset against Sheffield Wednesday with a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

Two goals from Willian and a Callum Hudson-Odoi strike were enough for Maurizio Sarri's men to progress to the fifth round.

Sunday Recap

Crystal Palace got off to the perfect start at Selhurst Park, as Wickham tapped home the opener from close range after just nine minutes.

The Eagles doubled their lead from the penalty spot on 34 minutes after Kyle Walker-Peters had been penalised for handball:

Townsend sent goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga the wrong way from the spot to put Palace firmly in charge of the tie.

Spurs had a great chance to pull one back just before half-time when Patrick van Aanholt clipped Juan Foyth in the box and conceded a penalty.

However, Kieran Trippier blazed his effort wide of Julian Speroni's post with a poor effort:

Spurs improved after the break but could not find a way past Speroni. Georges-Kevin N'Koudou and Fernando Llorente both had good opportunities, but the Palace goalkeeper denied them.

Chelsea handed new signing Gonzalo Higuain a first start against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday. Hudson-Odoi was also in the starting XI despite handing in a transfer request, per Alistair Magowan at BBC Sport.

The Blues survived an early scare against Sheffield Wednesday when the visitors thought they had won a penalty midway through the first half.

Joey Pelupessy went down in the penalty area after clashing with Ethan Ampadu, and referee Andre Marriner pointed to the spot. However, the video assistant referee overturned the decision:

The action then switched to the other end with Chelsea awarded a penalty after Sam Hutchinson fouled Cesar Azpilicueta. Willian sent goalkeeper Keiren Westwood the wrong way with his spot-kick:

Chelsea had to wait until just after the hour mark to double their lead. Andrea Christensen picked out Hudson-Odoi in the penalty area, and he took two fine touches before firing it past Westwood.

Willian sealed the win with seven minutes of normal time remaining with his second of the match. The 30-year-old swapped passes with Olivier Giroud and curled in a fine strike off the post.

It was a simple day for City's rotated starting XI at the Etihad Stadium, with manager Pep Guardiola clearly happy with his side's comprehensive performance.

Gabriel Jesus opened the floodgates for the hosts midway through the first half. The Brazil international netted with style after linking with countryman Danilo.

The Clarets dug in to hold City to a one-goal lead at halftime, but Guardiola's men were ruthless after the interval.

Kevin De Bruyne set up Bernardo Silva seven minutes after the restart for the second, and the Belgian superstar grabbed a goal for himself to put the tie to bed shortly after the hour mark.

An own goal by Kevin Long rubbed salt in the wound for Burnley after 73 minutes, and City cantered past the winning post to prolong their cup endeavours.

Substitute Sergio Aguero made it 5-0 from the penalty spot with five minutes to play after Long fouled David Silva.

Everton are out of the competition after Millwall outmuscled them in south London.

The Toffees took the lead two minutes before half-time through Richarlison, but Millwall quickly grabbed an equaliser seconds later through Lee Gregory's header.

Cenk Tosun reclaimed the lead for Everton with 18 minutes remaining. However, the hosts battled hard and again scored a quick equaliser. Jake Cooper exposed the Premier League team's frailties from the set piece, with the 23-year-old netting from close range.

There were claims of handball from the visitors, but there was no video assistant referee for the tie, so the goal stood.

It was left to Murray Wallace to send the home fans wild in the fourth minute of injury time, slotting home as Everton once again failed to defend a set-piece routine.

There was unbridled joy for Wimbledon fans as their club swept past West Ham with a fantastic display.

The Dons took a 3-0 lead after a goal from Kwesi Appiah and a brace from Scott Wagstaff, but West Ham finally awoke from their slumber in the second half.

The Hammers were back in the game after substitutes Lucas Perez and Felipe Anderson found the net, but Toby Sibbick completed the 4-2 win with a finish two minutes before the final whistle.

It was yet another frustrating day in the north-east for Newcastle. The Magpies failed to score as Watford secured a 2-0 win.

Andre Gray opened the scoring on the hour, allowing Isaac Success' last-minute strike to settle the game in the final minute.

Wolves were nearly the subject of a giant-killing act at Shrewsbury, but the Premier League side saved themselves in a 2-2 draw.

The EFL League One side claimed a two-goal lead after second-half strikes from Greg Docherty and Luke Waterfall, but Wolves kept plugging away.

Raul Jimenez's effort gave the visitors hope with 15 minutes remaining, and Matt Doherty's headed equaliser broke home fans' hearts in the third minute of injury time, earning a replay.

Chelsea's case to win the 2019 FA Cup has been boosted by Gonzalo Higuain's arrival. The Juventus loanee could make his debut in Sunday's fourth-round tie against Sheffield Wednesday at Stamford Bridge.

Championship outfit Wednesday will likely struggle to contain a Blues side entering the match buoyed by recently reaching the Carabao Cup final. Chelsea saw off London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 on penalties on Thursday to book a Wembley Stadium date against Manchester City for February 24.

It means the Blues have given themselves the chance to repeat the League Cup and FA Cup double they achieved on Jose Mourinho's watch in 2007. First, Chelsea have to get by Wednesday, with oddsmakers expecting the holders to win.

A second cup match in four days gives Maurizio Sarri the chance to rotate his squad. It means fringe players such as Callum Hudson-Odoi could feature.

The gifted winger continues to be linked with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, with BBC Sport's Alistair Magowan one of those reporting of the German side's interest. Chelsea want to keep the 18-year-old, though, with playing time likely to be key to his decision.

Hudson-Odoi thrived in the last round, assisting both goals in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest. His pace, trickery and eye for a pass will torment the Wednesday defence.

Keeping the supply lines open for Higuain will be key. The 31-year-old has scored consistently during his career for Juve, Real Madrid and Napoli.

Higuain thrived for the latter on Sarri's watch, so he's a good bet to produce early for Chelsea.

Sarri's assistant, Gianfranco Zola, left Wednesday guessing about whether Chelsea's newest frontman will feature:

The visitors will struggle to contain Higuain if he is involved, but former Chelsea man Sam Hutchinson can play a vital role. He's a utility player best-suited in defensive areas, where his aggression and awareness help to break up play.

Further forward, the Owls will miss Gary Hooper's goals, with the ex-Celtic striker still recovering from groin surgery.

Chelsea are firm favourites with the oddsmakers for obvious reasons. The holders will make their extra ingenuity in midfield and greater firepower up top count.

Friday Recap

Arsenal started well against Manchester United but suffered an early blow when defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos was forced off with injury and replaced by Shkodran Mustafi after 21 minutes.

The change seemed to help Manchester United, and they stunned Arsenal with two goals in two minutes just after the half-hour mark.

The Red Devils went ahead when Romelu Lukaku slipped in Sanchez to round Petr Cech and net from a tight angle:

Lukaku then grabbed his second assist of the night when he teed up Lingard to slide a low shot home from inside the box:

Yet Aubameyang got Arsenal back into it just before half-time. Aaron Ramsey was the creator, running into the box and crossing for the striker to tap home unmarked at the far post:

Arsenal almost equalised straight after the break, as Ramsey forced goalkeeper Sergio Romero to tip his header over the bar from a cross by Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The Gunners then suffered another injury blow as Lukaku accidentally caught Laurent Koscielny in the face with his boot. The defender had to be replaced by Matteo Guendouzi with Mesut Ozil also coming in for Alex Iwobi.

Arsenal pressed for an equaliser but were caught on the counter again in the closing stages. Paul Pogba drove forward from midfield and fired in a low shot which Cech could only parry, allowing substitute Martial to slide into an empty net.

The win means caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now won all eight games in charge of the club since replacing Jose Mourinho at the helm:

Friday's only other FA Cup fixture saw Bolton get off to the perfect start at Bristol City. Mark Beevers put the visitors ahead with just six minutes on the clock.

A deep cross found the defender striding into the box, and he clipped it past goalkeeper Frank Fielding.

The hosts responded quickly and were level two minutes later through Callum O'Dowda. The winger collected a long ball forward on his chest, took a touch and then powered a low shot home.

Bristol City's winner came in the form of a fine individual goal from Niclas Eliasson. The midfielder cut in from the right and curled a brilliant shot into the top corner with his left foot.
