Police have arrested a 16-year-old and charged him with burglary of a structure and third-degree grand theft for allegedly stealing and totaling Orlando Magic guard Terrence Ross' 2021 Lamborghini Urus from an Orlando, Florida dealership.

TMZ Sports provided the news on the 16-year-old, who is reportedly in juvenile custody in Miami.

Per Thomas Mates of Click Orlando, police said the 16-year-old was seen trying various door handles for cars at the Fields Motorcars Orlando dealership in the early morning hours of June 1.

He then came back with a Dodge Dart and crashed into a window to gain access into the building. Prior to 1 a.m. ET, the teen took off in the SUV.

Per TMZ Sports, the Lamborghini was seen in Orange County at roughly 3 a.m. A couple of hours later, police received word that the Lamborghini had crashed into a Maitland, Florida building. The vehicle was abandoned when police arrived.

According to Mates, investigators also said a teen was seen sleeping in an elevator in a Maitland, Florida building, and that a witness said he asked for a ride before running away.

Ross reportedly received word of the incident at 8 a.m. on June 1. He provided this statement in an Instagram post published on June 1 (h/t TMZ Sports), explaining what he had been told.

Two guys broke into the dealership, smashed through a glass, went through desks, grabbed keys, go out to the lot and start seeing which key works and the key that they stumbled upon was my key.

They take this car and they start driving...[the cops] find these dudes cruising around like Winter Garden in my whip. They start the chase, the dudes take off in my whip, smash it, lose control of it and crash it into the side of a building. Completely totaled.

So, now I'm pretty much without a car...so now we back to basics. Car shopping. I'm so sick right now. So Goddamn sick—that was the greatest car I've ever had! And, now it's gone. Gone! Can't even get it back so I'm sick right now. I'm sick.

Per Mates, Ross had left the car at the dealership to be serviced. The SUV can be seen in the background of Ross' Feb. 23 Instagram post.

Ross, 30, averaged a career-high 15.6 points per game last year.

The Toronto Raptors selected him eighth overall in the 2012 NBA draft out of Washington. He spent four-plus years in Toronto, averaging 9.5 points per game.

The Raps traded Ross and a first-round draft pick to the Magic for big man Serge Ibaka on Feb, 14, 2017. Ross has been with the Magic ever since.

He has two years remaining on a four-year, $54 million deal signed in July 2019.

Magic Rumors: Mavericks' Jamahl Mosley Emerging as 'Strong Front-Runner' for HC Job

The Orlando Magic are reportedly zeroing in on Jamahl Mosley as their next head coach.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Dallas Mavericks assistant has "emerged as the strong front-runner" to be hired by the Magic.

Wojnarowski added that conversations with the Magic remain ongoing, but Mosley "has separated himself in the organization's process."

Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press noted the situation has "accelerated significantly" in the past 24 to 48 hours.

According to Wojnarowski, Denver Nuggets assistant Wes Unseld Jr., who is also a finalist for the Magic, is "a leading candidate" for the Washington Wizards' vacancy.

Orlando, Washington and the New Orleans Pelicans are the only teams currently searching for a new head coach.

Mosley has been among the most popular coaching candidates for teams since the Mavs' season came to an end. He received an endorsement from Luka Doncic when Dallas was searching to find Rick Carlisle's replacement.

The 42-year-old has spent the past seven seasons as an assistant coach for the Mavericks. He also worked as an assistant for the Nuggets (2007-10) and Cleveland Cavaliers (2010-14).

Orlando would mark the first head-coaching job for Mosley. The franchise is still in the early stages of a long-term rebuild, but has pieces in place that make it an intriguing job.

The Magic own pick Nos. 5 and 8 in the first round of the 2021 NBA draft on July 29. They parted ways with Steve Clifford on June 5 after going 21-51 this season.

Denver Nuggets assistant coach Wes Unseld Jr. has reportedly "emerged as a serious candidate" to fill the Orlando Magic's head coaching vacancy.

Josh Robbins and Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Thursday the Magic started the "next phase" of their coaching search by conducting a second interview with Unseld.

It's unclear how many candidates will receive second interviews. Others who've spoken with Orlando's front office include Willie Green (Phoenix Suns), Becky Hammon (San Antonio Spurs) and three of the team's own assistant coaches (Tyrone Corbin, Pat Delany and Steve Hetzel), per The Athletic.

University of Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway, who starred for the Magic during the first seven seasons of his NBA playing career in the mid-to-late 1990s, also spoke with the team but announced Tuesday he's staying with the Tigers to chase a college basketball national championship.

Orlando is seeking to replace Steve Clifford, who mutually parted ways with the organization in early June after the Magic failed to qualify for the playoffs. He posted a 96-131 record in three seasons that included two postseason appearances.

Unseld is seeking to become an NBA head coach for the first time after 16 years as an assistant. Before joining the Nuggets' staff in 2015, he spent time with the Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors and Magic.

The Maryland native served as an assistant in Orlando under Jacque Vaughn from 2012 through 2015.

He was promoted to associate head coach by the Nuggets in December, and Denver head coach Michael Malone vouched for him as a future head coach.

"Wes is extremely deserving of this promotion. He is one of the hardest-working people I've come across in this league and he has been an integral part of my coaching staff since we both arrived in Denver in 2015," Malone said. "I've said it many times over the years that Wes is ready and deserving of a head coaching position in the NBA, and it's only a matter of time until that day comes."

While the Magic finished the 2020-21 season with the NBA's third-worst record at 21-51, they do have young roster with seven players 22 or younger under contract for next season and own the No. 5 pick in a talent-rich 2021 draft.

Penny Hardaway Rumors: Memphis HC a 'Serious Candidate' for Magic Job After Interview

Memphis men's basketball coach Penny Hardaway has reportedly emerged as a "serious suitor" in the Orlando Magic's head-coaching search.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported Hardaway has interviewed for the position.

Hardaway has spent the last three seasons at Memphis, his alma mater, posting a 63-32 record. The Tigers have not made the NCAA tournament under Hardaway but were the 2021 NIT champions.

Orlando is looking to replace Steve Clifford, who spent the last three seasons with the franchise. The Magic and Clifford parted ways after the 2020-21 NBA season as the team prepares for a full-scale rebuild.

Hardaway, with his college coaching experience and ability to cultivate relationships with young players, could be a solid choice for the rebuilding Magic. While it's unclear whether Hardaway is a tactical mastermind, he's been an excellent relationship-builder at the college level—both in recruiting and developing young players.

“I’m flattered by it because people are even mentioning my name, obviously because of the relationship I’ve had with the Magic over the years,” Hardaway said earlier this month of potential interest in coaching the Magic.  “It’s weird because the timing on it is, I’m now just starting to get into my own as Tigers coach and understand everything that comes along with this and then all of a sudden the Magic job, the people start talking about the Magic job.

“So it’s weird but my heart is in Memphis. I don’t know what happens in the future. If I did coach in the NBA that would be a place I would want to coach so, we’ll see.”

The Magic have no plans to compete in the near future, so Hardaway could grow as a coach as the roster is coming into its own.

It also does not hurt that Hardaway has significant cache in the Orlando area after playing for the Magic from 1993-1999.

Magic Rumors: Ime Udoka, Willie Green, Charles Lee Among HC Candidates

The Orlando Magic have reportedly added three names to their search for a new head coach.

Per Josh Robbins of The Athletic, the Magic have asked for permission to interview Brooklyn Nets assistant Ime Udoka, Phoenix Suns assistant Willie Green and Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee.

The Magic announced a mutual parting of ways with head coach Steve Clifford on June 5.

Orlando has gone all-in on a rebuild after trading Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon at the trade deadline in March. The team's .292 winning percentage this season (21-51) was its worst since 2013-14.

Udoka is in his ninth season as an assistant coach. He began his NBA coaching career with the San Antonio Spurs (2012-19) before joining Brett Brown's staff with the Philadelphia 76ers last season.

Nets head coach Steve Nash brought Udoka on prior to the start of this season. The 43-year-old is also expected to interview with the New Orleans Pelicans, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski

Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix reported that Udoka is expected to be a candidate for the Boston Celtics as a replacement for Brad Stevens.

Green has been an assistant with the Suns since Monty Williams took over as head coach prior to the 2019-20 season. He also won two NBA titles in three seasons as one of Steve Kerr's assistant coaches with the Golden State Warriors from 2016-19.

Lee has spent the past seven seasons working as an assistant on Mike Budenholzer's staff dating back to 2014-15 when they were with the Atlanta Hawks.

Magic's Cole Anthony on NBA All-Rookie Team Snub: 'Y'all Are Mad Disrespectful'

Orlando Magic rookie Cole Anthony noticed an omission from the NBA All-Rookie teams: himself.

Anthony, who was drafted by the Magic at No. 15 overall out of UNC, averaged 12.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 0.6 steals through 47 games (34 starts) for the Magic, who finished the season at 21-51.

The number of games played and the Magic's record may have swayed voters away from the 21-year-old. However, that theory may not apply given the case of Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball, who missed 21 games with a wrist fracture before returning for the postseason.

The Rookie of the Year winner averaged 15.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.6 steals this season.

Anthony received one first-team vote and 38 second-team votes, with his 40 points in the voting ranking 12th, one spot behind the Denver Nuggets' Facundo Campazzo.

Magic Rumors: Nuggets' Wes Unseld Jr. Receives Interview Request for Orlando HC Job

The Orlando Magic have reportedly requested to interview Denver Nuggets assistant coach Wes Unseld Jr., according to Mike Singer of the Denver Post.

Per that report, "The Nuggets promoted Unseld Jr. to associate head coach at the start of this season and he's been an invaluable piece to Mike Malone's staff."

Unseld Jr. has spent the past six years with the Nuggets, largely running the team's defensive schemes. Previously, he served as an assistant for the Orlando Magic (2012-2014) and the Golden State Warriors (2011-12 season).

He also spent 13 years with the Washington Wizards, including six as an assistant coach (2005-11).

"He is one of the hardest working people I’ve come across in this league and he has been an integral part of my coaching staff since we both arrived in Denver in 2015," Malone said last year after promoting Unseld to associate head coach. "I've said it many times over the years that Wes is ready and deserving of a head coaching position in the NBA and it's only a matter of time until that day comes."

Unseld Jr. interviewed for a number of head-coaching vacancies last year and was a "serious candidate" in the Chicago Bulls search, per Singer, before the team hired Billy Donovan.

So his name popping up in coaching searches this offseason isn't a surprise. The Magic are a developmental project, with any incoming coach needing to develop a young roster built around Jonathan Isaac, Markelle Fultz, Mo Bamba, Cole Anthony, R.J. Hampton and any draft picks selected this summer.

Jason Kidd Rumors: Magic to Interview Lakers Assistant for HC Opening This Week

Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Jason Kidd will interview with the Orlando Magic for their head coaching vacancy this week, per Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports.

Orlando required permission to interview the 48-year-old coach, but it was granted by Los Angeles.

Kidd has spent the past two years on the Lakers staff, including the team's run to an NBA title last season. He also served as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks for four years before one year with the Brooklyn Nets, accumulating a 183-190 regular-season record.

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame point guard was also one of the biggest stars of his era, earning 10 All-Star selections across his 19 years in the NBA. He won one title with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.

His resume puts Kidd in high demand this offseason, with Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reporting he is also a candidate for the Boston Celtics opening. The Portland Trail Blazers were also expected to pursue the coach before he withdraw himself from the running.

"Portland's a first-class organization and will have great candidates for its head coaching job, but I've decided not to be one of them," Kidd told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. "Whoever they choose will have big shoes to fill from Terry [Stotts]."

Orlando could have a difficult rebuild ahead after finishing 21-51, third-worst in the NBA. The team dealt several of its most notable players ahead of the trade deadline, including Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier, before parting ways with head coach Steve Clifford on June 5.

There are still promising young players on the roster, including Cole Anthony, R.J. Hampton and Wendell Carter Jr., while Markelle Fultz and Jonathan Isaac will hope to return to full strength after an injury-filled 2020-21.

The Magic will look for the right coach to get this group back into the playoffs after a one-year absence.

Magic Rumors: Becky Hammon to Interview for Orlando's Head Coaching Vacancy

One week after parting ways with Steve Clifford, the Orlando Magic are filling out their list of potential head coaching candidates.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, San Antonio Spurs assistant Becky Hammon will have an interview with the Magic.

Hammon was among the candidates under consideration by the Indiana Pacers to be named their head coach before they went with Toronto Raptors assistant Nate Bjorkgren last September.

The Magic began a full-scale rebuild during the 2020-21 season by trading Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier in March.

When Orlando announced June 5 a mutual parting of ways with Clifford, team president Jeff Weltman told reporters the decision came because of a difference in philosophy.

"Obviously, we've repositioned our team," Weltman said. And so, there has to be alignment. There has to be alignment in everything you do in this league. And if there's not alignment, it'll undermine everything."

Clifford went 96-131 in three seasons as Orlando's head coach. He led the franchise to the postseason in each of his first two years, losing in the first round each time.

Hammon has been an assistant on Gregg Popovich's staff with the Spurs since 2014. She made history on Dec. 30 against the Los Angeles Lakers as the first woman to serve as an acting head coach for an NBA team after Popovich was ejected in the second quarter.

She is also expected to interview with the Portland Trail Blazers to fill their head coaching vacancy, per Charania.

Penny Hardaway on Magic Coaching Speculation: 'My Heart Is in Memphis'

The Orlando Magic head-coaching job is open after the team and Steve Clifford parted ways, and an Orlando Magic legend is in the coaching business as the leader of the Memphis Tigers at the collegiate level.

However, it doesn't appear as if said legend is coming back to the Magic in the near future.

"I'm definitely flattered by that situation," Penny Hardaway said during an appearance on Sports 56 in Memphis (h/t Mark Giannotto of the Commercial Appeal). "My heart is in Memphis. I'm here. I love the Tigers. I love our fans. I started off doing something and I want to finish that."

Hardaway has been the head coach of Memphis for three seasons and has a 63-32 record. While he has yet to lead the Tigers to the NCAA men's tournament, they did win the NIT this past campaign with a victory over Mississippi State.

Hardaway has impressed the most with his prowess on the recruiting trail, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he turned things around with the Tigers and started consistently reaching the Big Dance and competing at the highest level.

As for the Magic, they were 21-51 during the 2020-21 season, ending their streak of two straight years in the playoffs. They also traded Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier, signaling their intentions to rebuild with an eye on the future.

While hiring someone like Hardaway, who played in Orlando from the 1993-94 season through the 1998-99 one and made four straight All-Star Games in that span, might bring up feelings of nostalgia and give the Magic someone who understands a player perspective, he also doesn't have any coaching experience outside of three years in Memphis.

Whoever is the next coach will likely oversee an extensive rebuilding project.

Perhaps former Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts will be that person, as Marc Stein of the New York Times reported Orlando is interested in him. He led Portland to the playoffs in each of the last eight years and advanced as far as the Western Conference Finals.
