The Baltimore Ravens were already without star quarterback Lamar Jackson for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and now they're down another signal-caller.

The Ravens announced that Tyler Huntley, who started under center in place of Jackson, has been ruled out with a concussion. He was replaced by rookie quarterback Anthony Brown.

Huntley was injured midway through the third quarter on a designed quarterback run after a huge hit from Steelers star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. He had completed eight of 12 passes for 88 yards and added 31 rushing yards.

An undrafted free agent out of Oregon, Brown hadn't seen the field prior to being thrust into action Sunday. He threw for just 16 yards, but the Ravens managed to hold on for a 16-14 victory to improve to 9-4. Baltimore totaled 215 yards on the ground with a rushing attack led by J.K. Dobbins, who ran for 120 yards and a touchdown in his first game back from injured reserve after knee surgery in October.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that the Ravens are expected to be without Jackson for at least next week's game against the Cleveland Browns. The 25-year-old is reportedly dealing with a sprained PCL that typically requires 1-3 weeks of recovery time.

If Jackson were to miss another week, his next chance to return to the field would come on Christmas Eve against the Atlanta Falcons. The 2019 NFL MVP is set to test free agency this offseason, so he undoubtedly hopes to be at full strength going forward.

Ravens Rumors: Tyler Huntley Prepared to Start 1-2 Games for Injured Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley is reportedly preparing to make one or two starts in the absence of injured star Lamar Jackson.

Appearing Saturday on SportsCenter, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler explained Jackson's injury situation and what it means for Huntley:

Fowler noted that Huntley has "loosely prepared" to play one or two weeks, with three weeks likely being the worst-case scenario for Jackson, who suffered a sprained PCL in his knee against the Denver Broncos last week.

After Jackson left last week's game, Huntley stepped in and completed 27 of 32 passes for 187 yards with no touchdowns and one interception, plus he rushed for 41 yards and the game-winning score in the fourth quarter of a 10-9 victory.

The 24-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2020, and he firmly established himself as the Ravens' top backup under center last season.

Jackson missed four games because of injury last season and missed some time in others, resulting in Huntley appearing in seven contests and making four starts. He went only 1-3 as a starter but often succeeded in keeping the Ravens competitive.

He finished 2021 with a 64.9 completion percentage, 1,081 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. Like Jackson, his greatest strength was his ability to do damage with his legs, as he rushed for 294 yards and two touchdowns.

While Huntley is capable, Jackson is one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the game and already has two Pro Bowl selections and the 2019 NFL MVP Award in five campaigns.

This season, Jackson is 8-4 as a starter and has completed 62.3 percent of his passes for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven picks while also rushing for 764 yards and three scores.

Although there is never a good time for a star quarterback to get injured, the Ravens do have the benefit of an easy schedule down the stretch.

Of their five remaining games, the only one against a team with a winning record is their Week 18 road clash with the Cincinnati Bengals that could be a contest for the AFC North title.

Jackson should be back by then, but there is uncertainty regarding which of the next few games he will be able to play in.

He is doubtful to play Sunday against the 5-7 Pittsburgh Steelers and may not be able to go against the 5-7 Cleveland Browns the following week.

If Fowler's timeline of missing one or two weeks holds true, Jackson should be able to step back into the starting lineup against the 5-8 Atlanta Falcons in Week 16.

Ravens' Lamar Jackson Expected to Miss Week 14 vs. Steelers with Knee Injury

The Baltimore Ravens are expecting to start Tyler Huntley on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers with Lamar Jackson battling a knee injury.

Jackson suffered a sprained PCL during Baltimore's Week 13 win over the Denver Broncos, and head coach John Harbaugh told reporters he would be evaluated on a week-to-week basis but would not be out for the season.

Any setback to the 25-year-old is concerning given his overall importance to the team and a playing style that calls for him to run the ball more often than most quarterbacks. That running ability is a major reason why his resume includes a league MVP and two Pro Bowl selections.

Jackson has completed 62.3 percent of his passes for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions while adding 764 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in 12 games this season.

Huntley isn't as dynamic as Jackson, but he is someone who can also use his legs if needed. He started four games for the Ravens last season and can keep the team afloat in the meantime.

Report: Lamar Jackson's Knee Injury Is Sprained PCL; Ravens QB Could Miss 1-3 Weeks

Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson suffered a sprained PCL in the team's 10-9 victory over the Denver Broncos in Week 13, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefter added injuries of this nature "often sideline" a player for one to three weeks.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh provided an update Monday and said the injury will be a "weekly thing" and that Jackson was likely to miss the Week 14 tilt with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That leaves Tyler Huntley in line to start his fifth game with the team.

The third-year signal-caller went 27-of-32 for 187 yards and an interception after coming on against the Broncos. For his career, he has thrown for 1,283 yards, three touchdowns and five interceptions in addition to gaining 358 yards and scoring three times on the ground.

Harbaugh told reporters the change won't require a total overhaul in terms of the scheme:

We run the same basic offense with both players [Jackson and Huntley]. [Huntley is] a player that's got a lot of dynamics to his game. He operates really well. So, if that's the way he goes [and Huntley starts for Jackson], that's the way it goes. We'll be excited to play, and our guys will be fired up.

Still, there's a clear gap between Jackson and Huntley, and Jackson's absence would be something Harbaugh and his staff have to work around.

The timing couldn't be much worse for Baltimore. At 8-4, the team is tied for the best record in the AFC North with the Cincinnati Bengals, who have won four games in a row and six of their last seven.

The Ravens will hope Jackson's recovery hits the shorter end of projections because the longer he's out, the more likely it is the Bengals overtake them for first place in the division.

Lamar Jackson 'Less Likely' to Play vs. Steelers with Injury, Is Week-to-Week

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson likely won't play against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week as he recovers from a knee injury.

"He's been through the MRIs, and I would say it's kind of week-to-week," head coach John Harbaugh told reporters on Monday. "It's gonna be a weekly thing. So as the week goes on we'll see for this week. It's probably less likely for this week, but it's not impossible, and then after that it will become more and more likely."

The two-time Pro Bowler was forced to exit the team's Week 13 game against the Denver Broncos because of a knee injury.

Because they were unable to agree to a long-term extension, Jackson's impending free agency has been a dominant theme for the Ravens throughout the 2022 season. For his part, the 25-year-old has continued to show why he's worthy of a deal making him one of NFL's highest-paid players.

Through 12 games, Jackson has thrown for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He remains a potent threat on the ground as well, running for 764 yards and three scores.

Nobody questioned his value before, but Jackson's knee injury was a reminder of how heliocentric the Ravens offense has become.

Baltimore earned a 10-9 victory over the Broncos after his exit but mustered only 285 yards of offense. Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley finished 27-of-32 for 187 yards and one interception.

The Ravens (8-4) are locked in a tight battle with the Cincinnati Bengals (8-4) for the AFC North title, and they will face each other in the final week of the regular season. Losing Jackson for any stretch of time will deal a blow to their hopes of securing the division.

Lamar Jackson Knee Injury Not Season-Ending, Ravens' John Harbaugh Says

The Baltimore Ravens ruled quarterback Lamar Jackson out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos with the knee injury he suffered in the first half.

Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters after the 10-9 victory that the injury will not end Jackson's season but may take "days to weeks" to heal. He will undergo further testing Monday.

While Jackson was wearing a protective sleeve on his right arm ahead of a Week 3 game against the New England Patriots that he ultimately played in and missed five games last season, he has been fairly durable for much of his career given his playing style as a quarterback who uses his arm and legs.

The Louisville product played at least 15 games in each of his first three seasons in the league.

When healthy, the 25-year-old is an electrifying playmaker with an NFL MVP and two Pro Bowl selections on his resume. He led the league in touchdown passes (36) in 2019 and has completed 62.1 percent of his passes for 2,231 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions to go with 755 yards and three scores on the ground.

Baltimore turned to Tyler Huntley with Jackson sidelined by this latest setback. The Utah product completed 27 of 32 passes for 187 yards and ran in for a two-yard touchdown as part of a 10-carry, 41-yard rushing performance.

Huntley appeared in seven games for the Ravens last season, going 1-3 as a starter and completing 64.9 percent of his passes for 1,081 yards, three touchdowns and four picks.

Like Jackson, the 24-year-old can also use his legs to make plays or escape pressure in the pocket, and he could keep the team afloat in the short term.

Still, Baltimore's Super Bowl chances will take a significant hit if its starter cannot return.

Report: Stanford Eyes Ravens OC Greg Roman for HC After David Shaw Resigned

Stanford is reportedly targeting Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman to replace David Shaw as the Cardinal's next head football coach.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported there is "mutual interest" between the two parties, and Roman has emerged as the vacancy's top candidate.

The 50-year-old has been an NFL offensive assistant for nearly a quarter-century after beginning his career with the Carolina Panthers in 1995. His only collegiate experience came at Stanford during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, when he served as a tight ends and offensive tackles coach under Jim Harbaugh.

When Harbaugh took the San Francisco 49ers' head coaching job in 2011, Shaw was promoted to Stanford's head coach and Roman followed Harbaugh to San Francisco. Roman has served as the offensive coordinator for the 49ers, Buffalo Bills and Ravens over the course of his career.

Baltimore promoted Roman to offensive coordinator in 2019, lining him up with Lamar Jackson's full-time takeover as the team's starting quarterback. Jackson won an MVP during his first season under Roman's tutelage and has made two of the last three Pro Bowls.

There has been some criticism of Roman's offensive philosophy, leading to speculation about his job security after last season, but he would be a solid hire for a Stanford program in desperate need of a revamp.

The Cardinal were 14-28 during Shaw's final four seasons, with his tenure concluding with back-to-back 3-9 campaigns. Stanford has struggled to keep up in the increasingly competitive college recruitment rat race, with NIL money and the ability of players to transfer more freely creating a difficult environment.

Roman has no head-coaching experience but brings an NFL cache that could create an energy that was lacking late in Shaw's tenure.

Ravens' Lamar Jackson Addresses Tweet at Fan After Jaguars Loss: 'My Bad'

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson addressed his response to a fan on Twitter that included anti-gay language and came after Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While speaking to reporters Friday, Jackson said, "My bad," in reference to the tweet, which he sent when he was "bitter" and "mad" after a tough loss:

Jackson responded to a fan who tweeted that the Ravens should not reward him with a huge contract after the loss to Jacksonville.

While Jackson later deleted the tweet, Joe Rivera of Sporting News noted he wrote the following: "Boy STFU y'all be cappin too much on this app mf never smelt a football field never did s--t but eat d--k."

After ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley characterized Jackson's tweet as "anti-gay" on Monday, Jackson took exception with that:

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh also commented on Jackson's tweet this week, stressing the importance of staying off social media after a loss and not responding to criticism:

"We talk a lot about football, but we also talk a little bit about that stuff too—what goes on in terms of the media and everything, and really, it's just, beg guys not to get into the Twitter world right after the game, especially after a loss. It's never going to be positive. It's not going to be a nice place, and I think that's kind of reflected in Lamar's response.

"He wants to win. I'm sure he's frustrated, just like we all are, and that's just a place you just don't want to live right after a game. I know he understands that."

In 11 games this season, he is completing 62.1 percent of his passes for 2,231 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has also been an electric runner with 755 yards and three scores on the ground.

Many quarterbacks have received huge contract extensions over the past couple of years, including Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson and Kyler Murray.

There is little doubt that Jackson deserves to be the next, but the reported hang-up has been his desire for a fully guaranteed contract, which the Ravens have seemingly been reluctant to offer.

Since there is no obvious upgrade available to the Ravens and there likely won't be for quite some time, it is difficult to envision them letting Jackson walk in free agency.

Despite his experiencing some bumps in the road this season, the Ravens figure to at least place the franchise tag on him even if they can't reach a long-term agreement during the offseason.

Ravens' Lamar Jackson, John Harbaugh Met to Discuss Deleted NSFW Tweet Ripping Fan

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told reporters he met with quarterback Lamar Jackson to discuss a vulgar tweet he sent out and eventually deleted following Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"[I] just beg guys to not get into the Twitter world right after the game, especially after a loss," Harbaugh said. "It's never going to be positive. It's not going be a nice place, you know? That's kind of reflected in Lamar's response because ... that's not the way he speaks. It's not the way he talks. It's not the words he ever uses. I've never heard him say things like that before."

Jamison Hensley of ESPN explained that the quarterback responded to a Twitter user who suggested games should not be decided by kicker Justin Tucker if Jackson is going to ask for a contract with more than $250 million in guarantees.

"Jackson snapped back shortly afterward with a profane reply, saying, among other things, that the fan 'never smelt a football field,'" Hensley wrote. "He then added an anti-gay phrase."

The exchange followed a dramatic comeback win for the Jaguars.

Despite facing a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter, Trevor Lawrence completed the comeback with two late touchdown passes and a strike to Zay Jones for a go-ahead two-point conversion. To Jackson's credit, he moved the offense down the field in the final seconds to set up a 67-yard field-goal attempt from Tucker, but the kick fell just short.

"Lamar Jackson, you've been around him. He's got one of the biggest hearts of anybody I know," Harbaugh said. "You all have seen him the way he treats people, the way he treats kids, the way he treats the media. And he is also one of the biggest competitors I've ever met. So those kind of conversations he takes very seriously. You get trapped sometimes by someone that's baiting you just a little bit. And you can't live there. I think that's not a place he wants to be and that's certainly not things that he wants to say."

That the fan mentioned Jackson's contract request is notable considering it is a major talking point surrounding the Ravens.

The 2019 MVP turned down an offer in September that ESPN's Adam Schefter reported was thought to be worth approximately $250 million. According to Schefter, the team "balked" at Jackson's request for a deal approximating the $230 million in guarantees the Cleveland Browns gave Deshaun Watson.

Baltimore is tied with the Cincinnati Bengals atop the AFC North at 7-4 and will face the Denver Broncos in Week 13.

Lamar Jackson was surely upset with Sunday's shocking 28-27 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and took out some of his frustration on a fan via a tweet.

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback responded to a message saying games shouldn't come down to kicker Justin Tucker if Jackson is going to ask for more than $250 million guaranteed in his next deal.

Jackson tweeted the following: "Boy STFU y'all be cappin too much on this app mf never smelt a football field never did s--t but eat d--k!!"

Baltimore built a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter against the Jaguars, but Jacksonville ended up completing a comeback with two late touchdown passes from Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence found Zay Jones for a two-point conversion after the last one to take the lead, and Tucker's 67-yard field goal fell just short as time expired.

Jackson's contract status has been a hovering topic for the Ravens this season, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported in September the two-time Pro Bowler declined a deal worth approximately $250 million because it didn't match the $230 million in guarantees the Cleveland Browns gave Deshaun Watson.

The Ravens quarterback has a resume that includes an MVP and is just 25 years old, but this will remain a talking point until he and the team agree to a deal.
