Dolphins' Tyreek Hill: Tua Tagovailoa Throws 1 of 'Prettiest Balls I've Ever Caught'

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is a believer in his new quarterback.
"Tua [Tagovailoa] actually has one of the prettiest balls I've ever caught him in my life," Hill told reporters. "… Tua is a very accurate QB."
The former Kansas City Chiefs pass-catcher also said: "I'm very confident in my quarterback. … The sky is the limit for that guy. Heck of a talent. Has crazy arm strength, arm talent."
Hill previously came to Tagovailoa's defense when he tweeted out a video of a number of impressive throws after the Dolphins released video of an underthrow that drew plenty of criticism.
Dolphins fans concerned about Tagovailoa's progression under center can at least take solace knowing Patrick Mahomes' former No. 1 wide receiver likes what he sees from his new quarterback.
Dolphins Rumors: Former Steelers, Chiefs LB Melvin Ingram Agrees to Contract

The Miami Dolphins are continuing a strong offseason by reportedly adding a veteran pass-rusher.
According to insider Jordan Schultz, three-time Pro Bowl defensive end/linebacker Melvin Ingram will be signing with the Dolphins. The terms of Ingram's deal were not disclosed.
ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques confirmed the two sides reached an agreement on Sunday.
After spending the first nine years of his career playing for the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers, Ingram split the 2021 season between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs. He had signed a one-year contract with Pittsburgh, but after making just one start in six appearances, he was traded to Kansas City in November.
Ingram played nine games with the Chiefs, starting six of them. Between the two teams, he finished with 25 total tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
The 33-year-old Ingram joins a revamped Dolphins team that has high expectations heading into the 2022 season. Miami hired Mike McDaniel as its new head coach and made major additions on the offensive side of the ball.
The Dolphins acquired six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill from the Chiefs and signed him to a massive contract extension, making him the highest-paid wideout in the NFL. Miami also brought in a trio of veteran running backs in Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert and Sony Michel, as well as stalwart left tackle Terron Armstead.
The Dolphins ranked fifth in the NFL last season with 48 sacks. Adding Ingram to the rotation makes Miami's pass rush even more dangerous.
Dolphins' Tyreek Hill Tells Tua Tagovailoa Critics to 'Chill' with New Practice Video

Tyreek Hill would like Tua Tagovailoa's critics to "chill" when it comes to ripping practice videos.
The new Miami Dolphins wide receiver tweeted a video of Tagovailoa connecting with pass-catchers on a number of impressive practice throws. It was the type of video teams often tweet out in an effort to generate excitement during this portion of the NFL calendar.
Only a previous Dolphins' video did the opposite of that.
Miami tweeted a video of Tagovailoa connecting with Hill on a deep ball earlier this week that drew plenty of criticism and jokes. While the pass being in slow motion may have thrown off the perception a bit, it still looked like Hill had to slow down to catch it.
It also wasn't difficult to envision a defensive back camping underneath it.
Fortunately for the Dolphins, there is still plenty of time for the new quarterback and wide receiver combination to prove critics wrong.
OC Says Tua Tagovailoa Doesn't Limit Dolphins Offense After Viral Tyreek Hill Video

Despite persisting questions regarding quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's arm strength, Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith believes the third-year signal-caller can make all the necessary throws in his offense.
Speaking to SI.com's Alain Poupart, Smith said:
"I wouldn't say that we're limiting ourselves in anything. He's actually been doing a great job of ... every day presents different routes, different things we're trying to accomplish with receivers. So I would say that everything we've done so far has been extremely optimistic because there's certain things in our progressions and reads and his ability to move from throughout his progressions. He's been awesome for a guy just really being in the system for a month."
Smith's comments came on the heels of the Dolphins tweeting a much-maligned video of Tua underthrowing newly acquired wide receiver Tyreek Hill on a deep ball:
Given that he is entering his third NFL season and the Dolphins have seemingly provided him with everything needed to succeed, 2022 could be a make-or-break year for Tagovailoa.
Miami used the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 draft on Tagovailoa, which was a move questioned by some since he was coming off major hip and ankle injuries while playing collegiately at Alabama.
Tua went 6-3 as a starter during his rookie season, but then-head coach Brian Flores made constant quarterback changes between Tagovailoa and veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Tagovailoa was the unquestioned starter last season and once again posted a winning record at 7-5, but he missed some time because of injury and didn't put up huge numbers, completing 67.8 percent of his passes for 2,653 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Also, last offseason and throughout the 2021 campaign, there were constant rumors regarding the Dolphins possibly pursuing a trade for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
It never came to fruition, as Watson was traded to the Cleveland Browns instead, but it couldn't have been easy for Tagovailoa to perform with that cloud over his head.
Now, Tua is being given the opportunity to establish himself as the long-term starter under a new coaching staff led by head coach Mike McDaniel, who was previously the San Francisco 49ers' offensive coordinator.
McDaniel could be the perfect coach for Tua given what he was able to do in San Francisco with a less-than-ideal quarterback situation.
With Jimmy Garoppolo only putting up middling numbers under center, McDaniel still helped lead the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game last season.
In addition to McDaniel, Tua has the benefit of Hill being added to the offense, giving him one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL alongside wideouts Jaylen Waddle and Cedrick Wilson and tight end Mike Gesicki.
Hill was named a Pro Bowler in each of his six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and was a three-time first-team All-Pro to boot.
The one-time Super Bowl champion has also racked up 479 receptions for 6,630 yards and 56 receiving touchdowns during his career to go along with 719 yards and six scores on the ground.
Miami will still need Tua to be an effective deep passer from time to time to keep opposing defenses honest, though, and the team could learn a lot about his proficiency in that area in 2022.
Dolphins' Tyreek Hill on If He's Faster Than Usain Bolt: 'Of Course I Am'

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill believes he is faster than the fastest man on earth.
Appearing on Kevin Hart's YouTube series Cold as Balls (starts at 11:20 mark), Hill said "of course I am" when asked if he was faster than Usain Bolt.
Hill and Bolt have had some good-natured fun over the years about who is the faster runner.
Bolt told TMZ Sports in August he would put up one of his eight Olympic gold medals if Hill wagered his Super Bowl ring in a one-on-one race. Hill responded three months later by accepting the challenge when he spoke to TMZ.
Thus far, nothing has come of their online back-and-forth.
Bolt, who retired from competition in 2017, holds individual world records in the 100 meters (9.58 seconds) and 200 meters (19.19 seconds). He was also part of the Jamaican team that set the 4x100m world record at the 2012 Olympics.
Prior to Super Bowl LIII in February 2019, two years after his retirement, Bolt ran an unofficial 4.22-second 40-yard dash.
If that time is accurate, it's .07 seconds faster than Hill ran at his pro day (4.29 seconds) in 2016.
Per WorldAthletics.org, Hill's fastest recorded time in the 100 meters is 10.19 seconds.
Hopefully, one day we will get to see them settle the debate once and for all. Until that happens, though, fans will have to keep speculating about what might happen in a race between Hill and Bolt.
Sony Michel's Updated Fantasy Outlook After Signing Reported Dolphins Contract

Fifth-year running back Sony Michel has reportedly found a new home.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Michel is making a return to the AFC East by agreeing to sign with the Miami Dolphins. After spending the first three years of his career with the New England Patriots, Michel was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021.
So what does this move do for Michel's fantasy outlook for the 2022 season? Let's take a look.
Michel joins a crowded backfield that includes Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert and Myles Gaskin. Edmonds and Mostert will also be in their first year with the Dolphins after signing as free agents this offseason. Gaskin, who will be entering his fourth season, led Miami last season with 612 rushing yards.
Michel appeared in all 17 games while making seven starts for the Rams and led the team with 845 rushing yards while adding four touchdowns. He also had 21 catches for 128 yards and a score. He finished as the No. 27 running back with 125.3 fantasy points.
While Michel is a versatile weapon who can be used in both the rushing and passing attacks, Miami's backfield situation makes it hard to depend on him. Under new head coach Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins are undoubtedly set to feature a run-heavy offense with a steady rotation.
It's expected that Edmonds will get the lead-back duties with Mostert backing him up. Fantasy Pros projects a similar workload for both of them, with Edmonds predicted to put up 122.6 fantasy points against Mostert's 110.4. Michel will likely finish somewhere within that range.
Michel should be viewed as an RB3 with flex potential for now. There's a chance that someone separates himself from the pack in Miami's backfield, but while it remains a committee it will be difficult to trust any of them.
Dolphins Rumors: Former Rams RB Sony Michel to Sign Contract in Free Agency

Free-agent running back Sony Michel will sign a contract with the Miami Dolphins, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The New England Patriots selected Michel with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. He proceeded to lead New England in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in each of his first two seasons.
His rookie year ended with Super Bowl LIII, where he added 94 rushing yards and the game's lone touchdown in a 13-3 victory over the Rams.
The 2019 season saw Michel cross the 1,000-yard mark from scrimmage (1,006 yards). The Pats won the AFC East title but fell to the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card Round.
The Georgia product went on injured reserve in 2020 and missed seven games with a quadriceps injury. He also landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list during his time on IR.
Michel had just amassed 140 total yards on just 11 touches in a 36-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders prior to his IR stint, so the timing couldn't have been worse for a player who just enjoyed a breakout game.
He ended the year with 563 total yards (449 rushing, 114 receiving) and two scores.
In August 2021, the Pats decided to go in a different backfield direction and traded Michel to the Rams for a 2022 sixth-round pick and a 2023 fourth-round selection.
New England rolled with Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson, and the Rams added the Orlando, Florida native to a backfield with Darrell Henderson Jr.
Michel was brought in as a reinforcement to help a running back room that lost Cam Akers to a torn Achilles in June.
The addition of Michel helped the Rams, who lost Henderson for five games in Week 3 (ribs), Weeks 13-14 (quad) and Weeks 17-18 (knee sprain).
He filled in each time and ultimately finished the year with a team-high 845 rushing yards (four touchdowns) in addition to 128 receiving yards (one TD).
Michel added 58 rushing yards on 13 carries in a 34-11 win over the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Wild Card Round, but he largely took a backseat in the divisional round to Akers, who returned for the playoffs.
He finished the postseason with 80 yards on 26 carries, though he was limited to 22 rushing yards in the final three games of the Rams' Super Bowl run.
Now Michel will move onto Miami, which will mark his third NFL home in as many years.
