Incoming New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen sounds like he's prepared to go into next season with Daniel Jones as the starting quarterback.

Speaking to reporters at his introductory press conference on Wednesday, Schoen said the front office will "build an offense to accentuate what Daniel does best."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported last month the Giants were planning to bring back Jones and head coach Joe Judge.

Giants ownership had a change of heart about Judge, who was fired on Jan. 11 after going 10-23 in two seasons.

Jones, the No. 6 pick in the 2019 NFL draft, has one more guaranteed year remaining on his rookie contract. The Giants have until May 3 to decide if they want to pick up his fifth-year option worth around $21.3 million in 2023.

Things haven't worked out for Jones or the Giants over the past three seasons. He did have a promising rookie campaign with 3,027 yards, 24 touchdowns and 279 rushing yards in 13 appearances.

Since the start of 2020, Jones has thrown for 5,371 yards, 21 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 25 starts. He ranked 22nd out of 31 qualified quarterbacks in ESPN's QBR during the 2021 season.

There are many problems with the Giants roster around Jones that have made things more difficult for him. They had the third-worst offensive line in the NFL this season, per Pro Football Focus' Sam Monson

The Giants haven't had a winning season since making the playoffs with an 11-5 record in 2016.

Giants Rumors: Latest on Daniel Jones, Joe Judge, Dave Gettleman's Future in NY

The New York Giants are reportedly expected to bring back quarterback Daniel Jones and head coach Joe Judge in 2022.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Giants are expected to make organizational changes this offseason, but general manager Dave Gettleman is the likeliest to depart. Gettleman, who plucked Judge from near-obscurity to be the team's head coach and selected Jones well ahead of his projected draft value in 2019, has been with the Giants the last four seasons.

Neither Jones nor Judge has provided much evidence that Gettleman made a sound decision bringing them into the fold. Jones flashed some promise during his rookie season, throwing for 3,027 yards and 24 touchdowns against 12 interceptions in 13 games, but he has thrown 21 touchdowns versus 17 picks in 25 games since. He will miss the final three remaining games in 2021 with a neck injury.

Judge is 10-20 since leaving the New England Patriots' special teams staff to take over in New York. He's made headlines for his unorthodox coaching tactics, drawing criticism from former players.

It's hard to see why any new general manager would retain Judge, or why Giants ownership would insist on his return. Jones likely tops out as a below-average NFL starting quarterback, but at least he's shown some flashes. The Giants' core skill-position players have also been riddled with injuries the last two seasons, so there is justification for bringing Jones back in the final year of his rookie contract and giving him one more chance.

Giants' Daniel Jones Reportedly Shut Down for Rest of 2021 Season with Neck Injury

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been reportedly ruled out for the remainder of the season with a neck injury, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan and Adam Schefter

The good news is coach Joe Judge does not believe Jones will need surgery:

Jones has been bothered by injuries throughout his young career. He appeared in 13 games during his 2019 rookie season and missed two games during the 2020 campaign with hamstring and ankle injuries.

The 24-year-old also suffered a concussion in a Week 5 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, though he was cleared to return for Week 6. He also missed several games with a neck ailment.

Jones has been rather inconsistent this season, completing 64.3 percent of his passes for 2,428 yards and 10 touchdowns against seven interceptions in 11 games. The Giants are 4-7 in games that he has started this season.

When Jones is sidelined, the Giants rely on backup Mike Glennon, who has completed 53.5 percent of his passes for 673 yards and three touchdowns against seven interceptions this season.

The Giants have struggled with Glennon under center, going 0-3 in his starts.

Giants Rumors: Jake Fromm, Mike Glennon Could Both Play Week 15 with Daniel Jones Out

The New York Giants are reportedly "considering" a plan to use both Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm at quarterback in Sunday's Week 15 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Wednesday that Glennon is expected to draw his third straight start while Daniel Jones recovers from a neck injury, but Fromm could join the mix for snaps after being signed off the Buffalo Bills' practice squad in late November.

The Giants haven't provided a timetable for Jones' return, and there's a "growing sentiment" among this teammates the team will eventually shut the third-year signal-caller down for the remainder of the season, per Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post.

New York owns a 4-9 record with four games to play. It's set to miss the playoffs for the ninth time in the past 10 years since winning Super Bowl XLVI.

Glennon has struggled across three appearances this season. He's completed 53.3 percent of his throws for 574 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions. He's added one rushing score.

The NC State product is 32 and owns a lackluster 81.5 career passer rating, so it makes sense for the Giants to give a younger option a chance down the stretch if Jones remains sidelined.

Fromm, 23, was a fifth-round pick of the Bills in the 2020 draft. He served as Buffalo's No. 3 quarterback for most of his first two seasons and has yet to make a regular-season appearance.

He enjoyed a standout three-year college career as a starter at Georgia. He threw 78 touchdowns and just 18 interceptions in 43 games for the Bulldogs.

"It's been a little crazy, but it's been fun," Fromm told reporters after signing with the Giants. "Honestly, just super excited to be here. I'm out here at practice, but it's just football, just trying to help out any way I can."

New York may split snaps for a game or two, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Fromm draw a couple starts before season's end to give the coaching staff a look at whether he could be an option as the team's chief backup in 2022.

Giants Rumors: Daniel Jones Not Expected to Be Cleared from Injury for Cowboys Game

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is not expected to be cleared to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 after visiting a specialist for his neck injury on Monday, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

Duggan noted, however, that nothing beyond this week has been ruled out, leaving Jones as week-to-week.

The 24-year-old suffered the neck injury in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles and has missed the past two games.

When he has been on the field, Jones has had a lackluster season. Through 11 appearances, the third-year starter has thrown for 2,428 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Giants have struggled this year with a 4-9 record, which puts them in last place in the NFC East.

Jones has not performed up to expectations since being selected sixth overall in the 2019 NFL draft. He accounted for 22 interceptions and 17 lost fumbles in his first two seasons in the league. New York went 4-12 in his rookie season and 6-10 in 2020.

The Giants turned to veteran backup Mike Glennon while Jones has been out. In two starts, Glennon has thrown for 378 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. New York has scored a total of 30 points over the past two games.

They added former Georgia standout Jake Fromm off of the Buffalo Bills' practice squad and also have former Michigan State quarterback Brian Lewerke on their practice squad.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will undergo an MRI on Monday, per Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.

Jones will see Dr. Frank Cammisa, whom Vacchiano described as "an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spinal conditions."

The 24-year-old has missed time this season because of a neck injury, although he was durable in his first two years and appeared in 13 games as a rookie in 2019 and 14 in 2020.

While Jones has flashed potential at times, he hasn't quite lived up to the elevated expectations that come with being the sixth overall pick of the NFL draft. He threw for 3,027 yards and 24 touchdowns as a rookie but took a step back in his second season with 2,943 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

The Duke product has followed with 2,428 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.

Mike Glennon filled in at quarterback for the Giants during Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and last week's loss to the Miami Dolphins. He will likely continue as the starter if Jones is sidelined.

Giants' Daniel Jones Reportedly Unlikely to Play vs. Chargers Because of Neck Injury

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is unlikely to play in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers as he continues to deal with a neck injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Schefter noted the team is hopeful Jones won't miss time.

New York's depth chart could be tested this week, as backup quarterback Mike Glennon was diagnosed with a concussion after a 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Jake Fromm—who was signed off the Buffalo Bills' practice squad on Dec. 1—could get the start if Jones does in fact miss the game.

While Jones suffered a concussion in a Week 5 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, he was cleared to return ahead of Week 6. The 2021 campaign has been a critical one for the former sixth pick as he looks to cement his future in New York.

However, the 24-year-old has been inconsistent this season, completing 64.3 percent of his passes for 2,428 yards and 10 touchdowns against seven interceptions in 11 games.

Of note, this is not the first time Jones has been bothered by injuries in his career. He missed two games in 2020 because of hamstring and ankle ailments.

Giants' Mike Glennon Suffered Concussion in Week 13 Loss to Dolphins

The New York Giants confirmed Mike Glennon suffered a concussion in Sunday's 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Glennon finished 23-of-44 for 187 yards and one interception while filling in for an injured Daniel Jones.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Jones' neck injury could keep him out for multiple weeks. As Glennon was still being evaluated, Giants head coach Joe Judge initially said the 31-year-old would remain the starter for the time being.

Now, New York might be looking at a new starting QB for the third straight week. The team is back in action Dec. 12 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

With Jones potentially unavailable and Glennon's status in flux, the Giants may have little choice but to add another quarterback to their active roster. They have one signal-caller (Brian Lewerke) on their practice squad.

Absent a notable outside acquisition, Jake Fromm appears to be a week out from his first NFL start.

New York signed Fromm, a fifth-round draft pick in 2020, from the Buffalo Bills' practice squad on Wednesday. The 6'2" passer went 21-of-36 for 172 yards in three preseason appearances for Buffalo.

At 4-8, the Giants are last in the NFC East and will fall two games behind the Washington Football Team in the wild-card race if Washington beats the Las Vegas Raiders.

New York still has a route into the postseason but can ill afford to lose further ground. Coming through with a victory in Week 14 would be difficult if the offense is counting on Fromm under center.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will miss Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins with a neck injury.

According to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano, Giants head coach Joe Judge classified the injury as a "neck strain" and added that Jones hasn't been cleared for contact.

Judge also said the injury is "not yet" considered to be season-ending, per Vacchiano.

The third-year passer previously suffered a concussion in Week 5's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, but he was cleared ahead of Week 6. He missed two games because of injury in 2020.

Mike Glennon replaced Jones against the Cowboys, throwing for 196 yards and a touchdown against two interceptions, and he will be the Giants' starter against the Dolphins.

Jake Fromm, who was signed off the Buffalo Bills' practice squad this week, will serve as Glennon's backup, marking the first time the second-year man will be active for a regular-season games.

Jones, 24, has the Giants off to a 4-7 start this season, and the 2019 first-rounder has played up-and-down football in what figures to be a key year for him in terms of his future with the team.

The Duke product is completing 64.3 percent of his passes for 2,428 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has also rushed for 298 yards and two scores.

New York has played better as of late, winning two of its past three games over the Las Vegas Raiders and the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Glennon and the Giants will have a tough task on their hands this week against a 5-7 Dolphins team riding a four-game winning streak.
