Game 1: North Carolina vs. Notre Dame, 1 p.m. ET

Game 2: Pittsburgh vs. North Carolina State, 5 p.m. ET

Notre Dame 3, Virginia 0

Five Notre Dame pitchers combined to allow five hits in a 3-0 victory over Virginia in the final game in Pool D.

Starter Liam Simon set the tone for the rest of the staff. The junior right-hander allowed just two hits and struck out eight in five innings. This was his longest outing of the season, surpassing a four-inning start he had on April 20.

Virginia only really threatened in the top of the eighth. The inning began with two quick outs before Max Cotier and Alex Tappen singled and Jake Gelof walked to load the bases.

Notre Dame head coach Link Jarrett replaced Matt Bedford, who only allowed one hit in his first 2.2 innings before those back-to-back singles, with Sammy Cooper. He got Devin Ortiz to ground out to second base to end the threat.

Aidan Tyrell took over to handle the ninth inning. He struck out Kyle Teel and Casey Saucke before getting Ethan Anderson to ground out to finish the game.

The Fighting Irish got single runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings to support stellar work from their pitchers. Zack Prajzner drove in two of the runs with an RBI single in the second and sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Jack Penney had the third RBI for Notre Dame with a double that scored Jack Brannigan.

Notre Dame advanced to the ACC tournament semifinals for the first time in program history.

Wake Forest 16, Miami 3 (7 Innings)

Wake Forest smacked seven home runs en route to a 16-3 mercy-rule shortened victory over Miami.

Left fielder Adam Cicere went 4-for-4 with two home runs, and catcher Brendan Tinsman hit his team-high 23rd long ball of the year. Tinsman's four RBI led the team.

First baseman Nick Kurtz, third baseman Brock Wilken, designated hitter Jake Reinisch and center fielder Lucas Costello rounded out the Wake Forest homers. Shortstop Michael Turconi also went 3-for-4 (including a triple) with three runs and three RBI.

The Demon Deacons scored six runs in the third before adding three more in the fourth for a 9-2 lead. They ran away with this one after adding four in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

Rhett Lowder got the win for Wake Forest on the mound after tossing five innings of three-run ball.

Miami first baseman CJ Kayfus starred for the Hurricanes with a 3-for-4 performance that included the team's lone home run.

UNC 10, Virginia Tech 0

Brandon Schaeffer tossed a complete-game shutout and Vance Honeycutt hit a pair of home runs as UNC cruised to the semifinals with a 10-0 win over Virginia Tech.

Schaeffer allowed six hits, struck out six and had zero walks on 102 pitches.

UNC jumped out to a big lead and never looked back after scoring four in the first inning and two in the second. Honeycutt hit a two-run homer in the first inning and added a solo shot in the second. He finished the day 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Angel Zarate and Danny Serretti added solo home runs in the second and fourth innings, respectively. Tomas Frick and Hunter Stokely added an RBI double apiece. Seven of UNC's nine batters had at least two hits.

Two of the four semifinal spots in the 2022 ACC baseball tournament are up for grabs over the next two days.

Upsets have been the story of the tournament thus far. North Carolina State and Pittsburgh, the two lowest seeds in their respective pools, have already clinched a spot in the semifinal. They will play each other on Saturday with a berth in the championship game on the line.

Of the three games scheduled for Thursday, two of them have no bearing on advancement. Friday's Virginia Tech-North Carolina game will determine the winner of Pool A.

The only game on Thursday's schedule that matters is Notre Dame vs. Florida State. The Seminoles can win Pool D with a victory. Notre Dame needs to win and beat Virginia on Friday to win Pool D and reach the semifinals.

2022 ACC Baseball Tournament Pool Standings (Winners in Bold)

Pool A: Virginia Tech (1-0), North Carolina (1-0), Clemson (0-2)

Pool B: Pittsburgh (2-0), Georgia Tech (1-1), Louisville (0-2),

2022 ACC Baseball Tournament Results - Thursday

Pool B: Georgia Tech def. Louisville, 9-4

Pool D: Notre Dame def. Florida State, 5-3

Pool A: Virginia Tech def. Clemson, 18-6

Virginia Tech 18, Clemson 6

Virginia Tech didn't lack for offense on Thursday.

The Hokies battered Clemson's pitchers, beating the Tigers 18-6 behind another huge night from Carson Jones.

The team's designated hitter bonked two more homers, his sixth and seventh in the past five games, en route to a two-hit, three-run, four-RBI evening.

Nick Biddison added two home runs and five RBI in the blowout victory.

Not even a rain delay could slow down Virginia Tech, as the Hokies managed to score four runs in the top of the ninth after play resumed. Five Clemson pitchers gave up 15 hits while walking 10 batters in a night that the Tigers would like to forget.

Virginia Tech will play again against North Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, with a berth in the semifinals on the line.

Notre Dame 5, Florida State 3

It's the semifinals for the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame won its first Pool D game on Thursday, beating Florida State 5-3 and moving them on in the ACC tourney.

It was all about the long ball for the victors, with Zack Prajzner's solo shot and two-run dingers from Jack Zyska and Brooks Coetzee III providing the offense.

John Michael Bertrand earned the win an absolute gem for Notre Dame, allowing just five hit and one run across eight innings. He struck out eight.

Brock Mathis' two-run single in the bottom of the ninth made things interesting for the Seminoles as they attempted the comeback, but Alex Rao came in to earn the save.

Notre Dame awaits the winner of North Carolina vs. Virginia Tech in its semifinals matchup.

Georgia Tech 9, Louisville 4

After winning the ACC Atlantic division during the regular season, Louisville will finish last in Pool B thanks to back-to-back losses to start the conference tournament.

Georgia Tech cruised to an easy 9-4 victory over the Cardinals in the first game on Thursday's schedule from Truist Field.

Drew Compton, who went 0-for-4 on Tuesday against Pitt, got the scoring started for the Yellow Jackets with a bases-loaded three-run triple in the top of the third inning off Kade Grundy.

Colin Hall extended the lead to 4-0 with an RBI single that scored Compton. Georgia Tech maintained that advantage until the bottom of the sixth when Jack Payton got Louisville on the board with an RBI single.

Yellow Jackets sophomore Marquis Grissom Jr. was fantastic on the mound. The right-hander allowed three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings.

As his team held a 6-3 advantage in the top of the ninth, Jake DeLeo broke things open with a three-run double off Will Koger.

Louisville got one run back in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't enough to make up the deficit. This is only the second time the Cardinals have lost back-to-back games since April 19 (22 games).

This is a huge win for Georgia Tech's resume leading up to Selection Monday next week. The Yellow Jackets are projected as the No. 3 seed in the Statesboro region in the latest update from D1Baseball.com

Louisville was projected to host a regional and be the No. 8 seed overall prior to Thursday's loss.

After four days of pool play, the 2021 ACC baseball tournament moves to a single-elimination format for the final two days.

Duke, Virginia, NC State and Georgia Tech are the final four teams standing. The Blue Devils and Cavaliers made it through pool play undefeated. The Wolfpack and Yellow Jackets advanced by virtue of being the highest-seeded team in their respective groups.

Duke has been the biggest surprise of the ACC tournament thus far as the No. 9 seed. It beat Florida State and Miami to win and advance.

Virginia has the best win of the tournament after beating top-seeded Notre Dame 14-1 on Friday to move into the semifinal.

The winners from Saturday's semifinal matchups will advance to the championship game Sunday.

No. 9 Duke def. No. 8 Virginia, 4-2

No. 3 NC State def. No. 2 Georgia Tech, 8-1

2021 ACC Championship Game (Sunday at Noon ET)

Duke vs. NC State

NC State 8, Georgia Tech 1

North Carolina State jumped on Georgia Tech early and didn't let up before earning an 8-1 win to secure a berth in the ACC title game.

J.T. Jarrett got the scoring started with a bases-loaded double off Yellow Jackets starter Marquis Grissom Jr. that brought home three runs.

After Georgia Tech got on the board with a run in the bottom of the third, the Wolfpack responded in the fourth with a solo homer by Luca Tresh.

Sam Highfill was terrific on the mound for NC State. The freshman right-hander gave up one run, four hits and three walks in 6.1 innings. It was his seventh start of at least six innings this season.

The score remained 4-1 until the eighth inning when the Wolfpack opened things up by adding a run on Jose Torres' RBI single. The ninth inning saw them add three more runs to turn the final score into a blowout.

Tyler McDonough put the exclamation point on the game with a two-run homer. Evan Justice put the finishing touches on the win with his ninth save.

The last time North Carolina State was in the ACC title game was 2015 when it lost to Florida State. A win on Sunday will give the program its first conference tournament championship since 1992.

Duke 4, Virginia 2

The Blue Devils earned a berth in the ACC Championship Game thanks to a 4-2 victory over Virginia in a matchup of the conference's two Cinderella teams.

Luke Fox was brilliant on the mound for Duke. The freshman left-hander limited Virginia to two runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings.

Fox's first season with the Blue Devils has been one to remember. He lowered his ERA to 2.77 and has 70 strikeouts in 52 innings.

Jimmy Loper and Marcus Johnson finished the game with two perfect innings of work.

The Blue Devils offense brought the power against Virginia starter Mike Vasil. Their first three runs were all via solo home runs, including two by Joey Loperfido in the first and third innings.

Loperfido had a fantastic day at the plate. The senior star went 4-for-5 with two homers, a double, two RBI and two runs scored. He was the only Duke hitter with more than one hit in the game.

Duke chased Vasil from the game after 4.2 innings. He allowed seven hits, four runs (three earned), two walks and five strikeouts.

The Blue Devils, who have 11 straight victories overall, are one win away from their first ACC tournament title. They haven't won a conference tournament title since 1951 when they were in the Southern Conference.

2021 ACC Tournament Results/Scheduleβ€”Friday

No. 8 Virginia def. No. 1 Notre Dame, 14-1

No. 5 Florida State def. No. 4 Miami, 6-3

No. 6 North Carolina def. No. 3 North Carolina State, 9-6

Florida State 6, Miami 3

A three-run first inning set the tone for Florida State's 6-3 win over Miami in the final game of Pool D.

Since Duke had already clinched the top spot in the pool, the Seminoles and Hurricanes were playing for pride and potentially solidifying their spot in the NCAA tournament field.

Florida State started the game on fire with three hits and a walk that led to three runs. Dylan Simmons drove in two runs with a double off Miami starter Jake Garland.

Miami clawed its way back into the game with a run in the second inning on a wild pitch and a solo homer by Raymond Gil in the fourth.

Florida State extended its lead back to 5-2 with two runs in the top half of the fifth. Logan Lacey provided insurance with a solo homer in the ninth.

The Hurricanes did threaten in the bottom of the ninth by loading the bases on two different occasions. They managed to get one run on Jose Izarra's fielder's choice.

After Tony Jenkins walked, Florida State head coach Mike Martin Jr. called on Jonah Scolaro to get the final out. Anthony Vilar put together a nine-pitch at-bat before the left-hander was finally able to punch him out with a breaking ball.

Virginia 14, Notre Dame 1

Virginia scored five runs in the second and ninth innings en route to a 14-1 blowout win over ACC regular-season champion Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish sent ace John Bertrand to the mound, and the senior had his worst start of the season, allowing five earned runs and four extra-base hits (three homers) in one inning.

Virginia's first five hitters in the top of the second inning reached base. Nic Kent, Alex Tappen and Jake Gelof each homered in the frame, with the latter's solo shot knocking Bertrand out of the game.

In between those outbursts in the second and ninth innings, the Cavaliers added a single run in the fourth and three on Zack Gelof's homer in the fifth.

The Gelof brothers combined to go 5-for-8 with two homers, six RBI and four runs scored.

Notre Dame was let down by its ace Friday, but Virginia's No. 1 starter rose to the challenge. Andrew Abbott, who entered the game with a 2.83 ERA in 14 appearances this season, struck out nine and scattered five hits in 6.1 shutout innings.

Three UVA pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts in the win.

Even though the final result wasn't what the Fighting Irish were looking for, they are going to be a high seed in the NCAA tournament after a 30-11 record this season.

Virginia entered the ACC tournament as a bubble team with a 26-22 record during the regular season, but a marquee win over Notre Dame and a trip to the semifinals have strengthened its case.

North Carolina 9, North Carolina State 6

UNC scored eight runs over the first two innings and held on late en route to a 9-6 win over North Carolina State.

Mac Horvath's first-inning grand slam proved to be the big blow.

He also added a second-inning RBI single and a fourth-inning sacrifice fly to register six RBI on the night. That helped him make some history along the way.

North Carolina State rallied in the third by scoring three runs on a fielder's choice, a walk and an RBI single. The Wolfpack added another run in the fourth to cut the lead to 9-4.

Neither team scored again until the eighth, when NC State plated one off an Austin Murr single and another courtesy of a Tyler McDonough double.

That hit put the tying run at the plate with Murr sitting at third and one out. However, UNC relief pitcher Caden O'Brien came into the game and posted back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat.

North Carolina State started the ninth with a leadoff single, but three straight outs ended the game.

Despite the loss, NC State will be moving onto the ACC tournament semifinals as the Pool C winner. UNC, NC State and Pitt all finished 1-1, but NC State is advancing on the tiebreaker due to being the highest seed.

The Wolfpack will be facing Georgia Tech, which won Pool B. That semifinal will occur on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.

North Carolina will hope to hear its name called in the NCAA tournament field as an at-large team. Teddy Cahill of Baseball America has the Tar Heels in the field in his latest bracket projection.

With just two days left in pool play at the 2021 ACC baseball tournament, the pressure is mounting on teams as they look to clinch a berth in the semifinals.

No. 1 seed Notre Dame had no problems in its first game of the tournament on Wednesday. The Fighting Irish shut out Virginia Tech 8-0 to set up a showdown with Virginia tomorrow to determine the winner of Pool A.

Duke, which is playing its best baseball of the season, continued its Cinderella run on Thursday against Miami. The Blue Devils advanced to the semifinals with an upset of the Hurricanes.

Other teams that can advance with a win Thursday include Louisville and Pittsburgh.

No. 9 Duke def. No. 4 Miami 3-2

No. 2 Georgia Tech def. No. 7 Louisville 9-8 (F/12)

No. 3 North Carolina State def. No. 10 Pittsburgh, 3-2

No. 9 Duke 3, No. 4 Miami 2

Duke continues to be the biggest story of the ACC tournament after its 3-2 walk-off win over Miami on Thursday.

Michael Rothenberg's homer in the bottom of the ninth off Carson Palmquist provided the difference in the game.

Both starting pitchers were terrific in the game. Jack Carey held the Hurricanes scoreless for five innings before they finally broke through against him in the sixth. Jake Smith shut out the Blue Devils during his five innings of work.

Yohan Morales' RBI double and a fielding error by Duke shortstop Ethan Murray put Miami up 2-0 in the sixth.

The Blue Devils finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. After RJ Shreck singled and Peter Matt doubled to lead off the inning, Rothenberg followed with a two-run single that tied the game.

Miami did put two runners on base in both the eighth and ninth innings, but it was unable to score either time. The Hurricanes left 11 runners on base, compared to just four for Duke.

The Blue Devils were swept in a three-game series against Miami last month and finished the regular season fifth in the ACC Coastal with a 16-17 conference record. Now, they are two wins away from their first conference tournament title since 1951 and an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.

No. 2 Georgia Tech 9, No. 7 Louisville 8 (F/12)

Andrew Jenkins' two-out RBI hit propelled Georgia Tech to a 9-8 win over Louisville in 12 innings and pushed the Yellow Jackets into the ACC semifinals.

With runners on first and second, Jenkins smoked a single into center field, but the ball was bobbled. That allowed both baserunners to score, with Justyn-Henry Malloy posting the winning run.

A seesaw affair took place at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Louisville jumped out to an early 4-0 lead courtesy of a Lucas Dunn two-run homer, a Ben Metzinger RBI single and a Henry Davis solo blast.

Georgia Tech responded in the bottom of the third after Jenkins slashed the lead in half with his own two-run bomb.

Davis got another RBI on a fourth-inning single for a 5-2 Cardinals lead, but Georgia Tech fired back with a Luke Waddell sacrifice fly that scored one.

Cameron Masterman put Louisville back up three with an RBI infield single for a 6-3 edge in the fifth. The score stayed that way until the eighth, when Georgia Tech's Kevin Parada smoked a three-run shot to tie the score.

In the 11th, Alex Binelas put Louisville on top with a solo home run.

Undeterred, Georgia Tech knotted the game at seven with a Drew Compton RBI double. The Yellow Jackets were unable to plate Compton, though, pushing the game into the 12th.

Metzinger's solo home run lifted Louisville to an 8-7 lead. In the bottom half, Georgia Tech got two runners on base courtesy of a single and a walk, leading to Jenkins' game-winning hit.

The Yellow Jackets have now emerged as the Pool B winner in ACC tournament group play and will face Pool C victor North Carolina State on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.

No. 3 North Carolina State 3, No. 10 Pittsburgh 2

North Carolina State starting pitcher Reid Johnston struck out 10 batters over eight innings as the Wolfpack defeated Pitt 3-2 and advanced to the ACC tournament semifinals.

Johnston retired his final 13 batters before closer Evan Justice shut the door in the ninth, striking out Brock Franks to end the game.

The Wolfpack scored all three of their runs in the second inning courtesy of J.T. Jarrett, who smacked a two-RBI triple before scoring on a wild pitch.

Ron Washington Jr. did all the damage for Pitt as he hit a first-inning RBI double and brought home another run in the third off a fielder's choice groundout.

Pitt starting pitcher Matt Gilbertson was also sensational, twirling a complete game on 134 pitches while striking out 10:

Only one Woflpack batter (Tyler McDonough) got on base after the second inning, and it was courtesy of a bunt single in the fifth. Jonny Butler proceeded to line out into a double play, though, so Gilbertson faced the minimum of 21 batters in the final seven innings.

North Carolina State will play UNC on Friday at 3 p.m. ET to close out Pool C play, but the Wolfpack will advance to the semifinals on Saturday at 5 p.m. against Pool B winner Georgia Tech regardless of the result against their in-state rival.
