Tom Brady, Buccaneers Fall to Chiefs as Tampa Bay's Defense Called Out by NFL Twitter

Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Tom Brady had a strong performance in Sunday night's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but it all meant nothing after a disappointing showing from the Tampa Bay defense.

The Buccaneers suffered a 41-31 loss on Sunday Night Football as the Chiefs offense looked like a well-oiled machine. Brady finished with 385 yards and three touchdowns on 39-of-52 passing, but it wasn't enough to help Tampa Bay avoid its second straight loss.

Entering Sunday night's game, the Bucs were known for their strong defense. The team allowed an average of just 9.0 points through the first three weeks of the season; Kansas City surpassed that number in the first quarter.

It was surprising to see the Todd Bowles-coached defense struggle so much. Tampa Bay looked overmatched for much of the game as Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes toyed with the defense on multiple occasions. The Bucs also had trouble stopping the run, surrendering 189 yards and two scores on the ground.

NFL Twitter was not happy with the Buccaneers' defensive performance Sunday night and ripped the team's effort against Kansas City.

The Bucs entered the year with aspirations of competing for a trip to the Super Bowl. There's a chance that Sunday night's game is an anomaly, but it was still a concerning performance. It could indicate that Tampa Bay can't hang with the elite teams in the NFL.

While the loss is disappointing, it gives the Bucs a chance to reevaluate themselves as they enter the second quarter of the regular season. Tampa Bay (2-2) will look to end its two-game skid next week when they host the Atlanta Falcons (2-2).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is donating to the Florida Disaster Fund in the wake of Hurricane Ian's destruction in the state, and he is encouraging others to do so as well:

Brady and the Buccaneers relocated to the Miami Dolphins' facilities to practice this week in an effort to avoid the direct path of the storm.

While the league monitored the situation, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday's game between the Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs will be played as scheduled. U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis was the contingency site if the game could not be played in Tampa Bay.

According to Amir Vera, Eric Levenson, Jason Hanna and Nouran Salahieh of CNN, at least 15 people have died as a result of Hurricane Ian's torrential rains, winds and flooding from storm surge.

While it was downgraded to a tropical storm after making landfall in Florida on Wednesday, it is expected to regain strength and become a Category 1 hurricane by the time it makes landfall again in South Carolina on Friday.

Bleacher Report’s NFL experts had a taste of what it’s like to finish above .500. Now, they will look to build momentum with their Week 4 picks as we move into...

Tom Brady Reflects on 'Butt Fumble,' Says Dolphins' 'Butt Punt' Didn't Top It

According to Tom Brady, Mark Sanchez is still the NFL king of butt blunders.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback gave his take on the league's latest gluteus-related mishap, Thomas Morstead's "butt punt," and said it still didn't top Sanchez's "butt fumble" from 2012.

"The first time I saw it I laughed out loud to myself in a room by myself for 20 seconds because I thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen in my life in sports," Brady said of the butt fumble while speaking on his SiriusXM show Let’s Go. "And the fact that our team was the beneficiary of it, and I was on the sideline still makes it one of the funniest things I ever remember in sports. I don't think yesterday topped it, but it was pretty funny."

Brady was on the opposing sideline as a member of the New England Patriots when Sanchez, then the Jets' starting quarterback, barreled into the hindquarters of teammate Brandon Moore, crashing to the turf and losing a fumble in the process.

A decade later, the Miami Dolphins' Morstead joined the AFC East's Hall of Embarrassment with a punt off the behind of teammate Trent Sherfield that resulted in a safety.

Two hilarious moments, separated by a decade, all happening within the same division and involving a certain body part.

This calls for some simple advice: Protect your butts in 2032, future members of the Patriots and Bills.

Tom Brady Jokes He's Not the Only 1 'Throwing Temper Tantrums' After Ken Dorsey Video

Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Tom Brady is happy he's no longer the face of throwing a tablet computer in the NFL.

"I'm not the only adult in the entire league that's throwing temper tantrums," he said on his Let's Go! podcast (via TMZ Sports). "Thank you, [Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey], for taking me off the hook."

During his team's 20-10 Week 2 win over the New Orleans Saints, Brady took his frustration out on two tablets on the sideline. That prompted the NFL to issue a memo telling teams they risk incurring fines when personnel intentionally break league-issued equipment.

That letter may not have made its way to Dorsey, whose reaction in the final moments of a 21-19 loss to the Miami Dolphins immediately went viral. He slammed his headset down before doing the same with his tablet.

"I know exactly what he was feeling," Brady said of that moment. "There's so much emotion. You feel like you're in a battle out there, and it's a physical battle. You got to get the emotion out."

Buccaneers' Tom Brady Says Finger Injury 'Doing a Lot Better' Than Last Week

To hear Tom Brady tell it, his finger injury is nothing to worry about.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback discussed his injury on his Let's Go! podcast (h/t Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk) and said "it's doing a lot better" and didn't impact him during Sunday's 14-12 loss to the Green Bay Packers:

"No, it didn't affect it at all. It's doing a lot better than last week. I mean, it was a pretty good swollen finger, but it's just part of the game, and I think there's a lot of bumps and bruises for guys across the league. If it was my left finger it would be totally insignificant. It was my right finger, so just deal with it a little bit. But in the end it really did nothing. I practiced all week. I took every rep in practice and didn't bother me at all in the game."

Of more concern for the Buccaneers in the loss was the wide receiver depth chart.

Mike Evans (suspension), Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) were all out, and the wide receiver position became a real problem when Breshad Perriman and Russell Gage each lost fumbles to stop promising drives.

If either one had ended in a field goal, Tampa Bay may have escaped with a victory.

To Brady's credit, he still managed to lead a 13-play, 89-yard touchdown drive in the game's final minutes while dealing with the lack of weapons and finger situation. The score cut the deficit to two, but Tampa Bay missed the ensuing two-point conversion after it took a delay of game penalty.

Next up for the Buccaneers is a showdown with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Evans will be back from his suspension, and head coach Todd Bowles told reporters he also expects Jones to return. That is welcome news for Brady, who will have better options to throw to even if Godwin doesn't take the field.

And it seems like his finger won't be an issue when he is throwing to those receivers.

Tom Brady Discusses Buccaneers Relocating to Dolphins Facility Ahead of Chiefs Game

It figures to be a tumultuous week for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Tom Brady doesn't want that to be an excuse when they take the field for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Buccaneers will evacuate south on Tuesday and use the Miami Dolphins' training facility ahead of the game against the Chiefs in an effort to avoid the path of Hurricane Ian.

The NFL is also monitoring the storm and could make changes to the game scheduled in Tampa Bay if necessary.

Brady discussed the situation on his Let's Go! podcast (h/t JoeBucsFan.com) and said the Buccaneers can't allow the fact Kansas City "will kind of have a normal week of prep" in comparison to derail their own approach.

"When you are dealing with some of the things that we are going to have to deal with this week, there's built in excuses that should never be excuses for anything," Brady said. "We gotta approach the week with a championship attitude that no matter what we face and no matter who plays, we're going to have to go out there and find a way to win the game."

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero noted Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg, Florida, could be facing their first direct hit from a major hurricane since 1921.

According to Amir Vera, Holly Yan, Jennifer Gray and Nouran Salahieh of CNN, the hurricane conditions could arrive in Florida by Wednesday. Tampa Bay is within a stretch of western Florida that is under a storm surge warning and could face "life-threatening inundation."

In terms of football, the Buccaneers could have used plenty of excuses during their 14-12 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 considering wide receivers Mike Evans (suspension), Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) were all sidelined.

The offense looked like a mess for extended stretches without those weapons, although Evans will be back against Kansas City. Head coach Todd Bowles told reporters he expects Jones to take the field as well.

Kansas City's offense also struggled in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and both groups will be looking to turn things around after their first loss of the season.

However, the preparation is going to look a bit different for the Buccaneers.

Tom Brady's Supporting Cast Called Out by Twitter in Buccaneers' Loss to Packers

Even the greatest quarterback of all time needs players around him.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were facing an uphill battle heading into Sunday's contest against the Green Bay Packers with Mike Evans (suspension), Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) all sidelined, and it proved to be too much to overcome in a 14-12 loss.

All the injuries to Brady's weapons took some of the steam out of the potential NFC playoff preview, and it took a valiant effort from the Tampa Bay defense against Aaron Rodgers and Co. to keep the home team within striking distance for much of the game.

Brady also turned in a valiant effort on the Buccaneers' final drive by marching 89 yards on 13 plays and finding Russell Gage for a touchdown, but they missed the ensuing two-point conversion after taking a delay of game penalty.

Brady finished 31-of-42 for 271 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions in the highly anticipated quarterback battle, and many on social media recognized he wasn't exactly working with a stacked deck:

Tampa Bay's lack of weapons was obvious in the first half when it managed just three points even though Brady was dialed in from an accuracy standpoint with a single incompletion. Breshad Perriman's lost fumble on a promising drive right before halftime proved costly, and the Buccaneers were left with more questions than answers as a result.

It was more of the same in the second half, as Gage's fumble in Green Bay territory ended a scoring chance.

Brady couldn't even catch a break when he escaped pressure and ran for a first down on a potential third-down conversion, as it was called back for holding. Rodgers' two touchdown passes, both of which occurred in the first half, ended up being enough for the visitors given the situation.

Things don't get much easier for the Buccaneers in Week 4 in another quarterback showdown with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, but at least Evans will be back from his suspension.

Schefter: Tom Brady Broke 2 Microsoft Tablets During Bucs' Win vs. Saints in Week 2

Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Tom Brady broke two Microsoft tablets during his tirade on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

A third tablet was also broken on the team's sideline.

Brady was captured on camera throwing a tablet for the second-straight season against the Saints:

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports said that Brady's actions prompted a memo from the NFL to all 32 teams, warning them about punishments for breaking the tablets and other league-issued equipment, via Ari Meirov of Pro Football Focus.

The quarterback joked about breaking the tablet during a radio appearance on Monday.

"I've had a pretty bad record against that tablet, unfortunately," Brady told broadcaster Jim Gray. "I think I forgot the password and I couldn't log in, so those things can be frustrating.

"Unfortunately, the tablet just happens to get in the way, and obviously that's the reason things weren't going great (against the Saints), so I had to take it out on poor meaningless tablet."

After the previous incident last year, Brady told Gray that he got a "warning" from the NFL that he would get fined in the future.

"I won't throw another Surface," he said at the time.

Breaking multiple tablets on the sideline might now be enough to earn discipline from the league.

Brady's last fine from the NFL came in 2013, giving up $10,000 after kicking Baltimore Ravens star Ed Reed. He avoided a potential penalty in the playoffs last year despite earning an unsportsmanlike conduct flag for an interaction with a referee.

Meanwhile, the 45-year-old has vowed to control his emotions better during games.

"I can always obviously do better as a quarterback and, yeah, not let my emotions get the best of me," Brady told reporters Friday. "Sometimes they do. It's an emotional sport. It's an emotional game, and we're all out there trying to do the best we can do."
