Odell Beckham Jr. to Visit with Cowboys After Giants Game, Jerry Jones Says

Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly intends to visit with both the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants before deciding which team to sign with, and Jerry Jones revealed Sunday when he intends to meet with the veteran wide receiver.

During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Jones said Beckham will visit with the Cowboys after their matchup with the Giants on Nov. 24.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Beckham intended to meet with both teams after Thanksgiving. Those are the only known scheduled visits for the veteran, they added.

The Cowboys have been heavily recruiting Beckham and have been vocal in their interest in the former Los Angeles Rams receiver. Quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb recently endorsed the idea of the team signing Beckham.

Dallas desperately needs another receiver alongside Lamb, who entered Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings leading the team with 53 catches for 706 yards and five touchdowns.

The next closest receiver is Noah Brown, who has caught 26 passes for 342 yards and one score.

The Giants are in a similar situation after failing to acquire a wide receiver at the trade deadline. Entering Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, Darius Slayton led the team with 19 catches for 327 yards and two scores.

No other wide receiver had cracked 200 yards receiving. Richie James had caught 20 passes for 191 yards, and Sterling Shepard had caught 13 passes for 154 yards and one score.

The Giants selected Beckham 12th overall in the 2014 NFL draft, and he spent five seasons with the franchise. If he decides to rejoin his former team, that could give the Giants an edge over the Cowboys, their NFC East rival, moving forward.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier this month:

"Beckham wants to play for a contender, and league sources are predicting that his eventual compensation package could be similar on a prorated basis to some of the free agent deals signed last offseason by fellow wide receivers such as Chris Godwin and Mike Williams, each of whom makes an average of $20 million per year."

Both Godwin and Williams signed three-year, $60 million deals with their respective teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Chargers. It's unclear if the Cowboys or Giants would be willing to commit to Beckham on those terms.

That said, there's no denying his impact.

When fully healthy, Beckham has the capability to be a difference-maker and key down-field threat. In 14 games split between the Browns and Rams last season, he caught 44 passes for 537 yards and five scores. In addition, he had 21 catches for 288 yards and two scores in four playoff games.

When he was fully healthy as a member of the Cleveland Browns in 2019, he caught 74 passes for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games.

Taylor Heinicke to Remain Commanders' QB1; Carson Wentz Informed of Move

Taylor Heinicke will remain the starting quarterback of the Washington Commanders, head coach Ron Rivera confirmed Sunday after a win over the Houston Texans.

Earlier Sunday, it was reported Heinicke would keep the job "as he continues to play well and the team keeps winning," according to ESPN's John Keim.

Carson Wentz, who began the season as the team's starter after an offseason trade from the Indianapolis Colts, has been on injured reserve because of a sprained right ring finger. He was not activated for Week 11 despite being eligible to come off IR.

After going 2-4 with Wentz as a starter early in the season, the Commanders are 4-1 with Heinicke under center.

Washington handed the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss of the season with a 32-21 upset last Monday, although Heinicke had no touchdowns and one interception.

The 29-year-old hasn't produced great numbers when active, totaling just five passing touchdowns with four interceptions and a 82.7 passer rating. Wentz has a 84.1 rating with 10 touchdowns and six picks in six games.

The team has still performed better with Heinicke on the field, earning impressive wins over the Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers. The only loss in this stretch came by three points to the 8-1 Minnesota Vikings.

Heinicke started 16 games for the Commanders last season after first impressing in a playoff game after the 2020 season.

Washington still gave up a 2022 third-round pick and a conditional 2023 third-round pick to acquire Wentz, who has a $22 million salary this season. The 29-year-old is signed through 2024, although the organization can save $26.2 million by releasing him after the season, per Spotrac.

The Commanders could give Wentz another shot to prove himself when healthy before making a decision in the offseason. However, the squad believes Heinicke has earned more playing time while looking to contend for a playoff spot.

Mike McCarthy Holds Cowboys Accountable in Packers Loss Despite Officiating

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy isn't interested in blaming the officials for his team's Week 10 overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers.

"We can't control the officials and never have tried to," he said during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan's Shan and RJ. "We go through every penalty and really use it as a learning experience … We've never lost a game because of officiating."

However, he did point out it is "normal" to make comments out of frustration when it comes to the officials, especially in the immediate aftermath of a game when emotions are high.

The 31-28 defeat, which came in overtime, was a rather shocking one from the Cowboys' perspective.

After all, they seemed to be in full control with a 28-14 lead in the fourth quarter just for Aaron Rodgers to throw two touchdown passes to Christian Watson to force the extra time. Dallas then turned it over on downs in overtime, and Green Bay won it with a field goal.

The Packers are just 4-7 on the season following Thursday's loss to the Tennessee Titans, so it may end up being an ugly defeat for 6-3 Dallas if it is unable to make up ground on the 8-1 Philadelphia Eagles or 7-2 New York Giants in the NFC East.

That overtime could have unfolded much differently, though, if it wasn't for the officials, as Mac Engel of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram pointed out.

Malik Davis' 16-yard run to the Packers' 26-yard line was called back for a questionable holding, and Green Bay cornerback Jaire Alexander seemed to commit obvious pass interference or defensive holding on Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb just two plays later.

There was no flag, and the visitors turned it over on downs on the next play.

"Very, very, very frustrating," McCarthy told reporters in his postgame press conference. "But you've got to overcome those things."

Dallas did not, and the result is a difficult loss ahead of a daunting contest against the 8-1 Minnesota Vikings in Week 11.

Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence Thinks He Has Fracture Where He Had Surgery on Foot Injury

Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence told reporters he plans to play in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings but is dealing with injuries to his right knee and both feet.

"It's all about trying to maintain what I have but also taking care of me throughout the week so I can be fresh (on Sunday)," he said while also revealing he believes there could be a fracture where he underwent foot surgery.

Lawrence missed time when he suffered a broken foot last season on his way to playing just seven games. It was a setback after he appeared in all 16 contests in each of the previous four years.

When healthy, the Boise State product is one of the better pass-rushers on the Cowboys. He was a Pro Bowler in back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018 when he combined for 25 sacks.

While his production has dropped off since that stretch, he still tallied 58 tackles, 6.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two passes defended and one fumble recovery in his last full season in 2020 and has five sacks, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and a defensive touchdown in 2022.

If Lawrence is sidelined, look for the combination of Dorance Armstrong, Sam Williams and Chauncey Golston to see more time.

NFL Rumors: Jeff Bezos Clear Front-Runner to Buy Commanders If He Pursues Purchase

If Jeff Bezos wants to buy the Washington Commanders, the franchise is reportedly his to lose.

The Washington Post reported potential buyers have settled on the reality that Bezos could easily outbid them if he chose to purchase the franchise from Dan Snyder.

The Amazon founder is the world's fourth-richest person with a net worth of $120.5 billion, per Forbes.

Snyder announced his intention to explore a sale of the Commanders earlier this month amid public and private pressure from fans and other owners. The franchise has been embroiled in controversy throughout Snyder's 23-year tenure as owner. DC Attorney General Karl Racine recently announced a lawsuit filed against Snyder, the Commanders and the NFL, saying the parties intentionally tried to deceive the city during an investigation into workplace misconduct.

While Bezos has been exploring the potential ownership of a sports franchise for years and the Commanders are a natural fit given his business holdings in the nation's capital and its surrounding areas, his attempt to buy the team could be fraught. Peter King of NBC Sports reported Snyder would never sell to Bezos because he "detests" the Washington Post, which Bezos owns.

The Washington Post has been consistently critical of Snyder over the course of his ownership, though it's hard to call any criticism of him unfair given how far the team has fallen during his stewardship.

NFL owners could and likely would attempt to force Snyder's hand into selling to Bezos if his bid winds up being the strongest among interested parties. Forbes values the Commanders at $5.6 billion, but it's a virtual certainty they will sell for more than that figure—increasing franchise values around the league by proxy.

The NFL is unlikely to allow Snyder to sell the Commanders to a lesser offer over a personal grudge.

Report: Commanders' Dan Snyder 'Realizes That He Must Sell the Entire Franchise'

Nov 17, 2022

Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder reportedly "realizes that he must sell the entire franchise" after originally aiming to sell a minority stake in the NFL organization.

Liz Clarke, Roxanne Roberts, Mark Maske and Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post reported Thursday that Snyder's stance has changed in recent weeks amid an increasing debt burden and pressure to finalize plans to build a new stadium.

Snyder and his wife, co-owner Tanya Snyder, announced in early November they'd hired Bank of America Securities to "consider potential transactions" involving the franchise.

The Snyders, who've owned the Commanders since May 1999, were aiming to find a partner willing to make a financial investment, but sources told the Washington Post they're unlikely to find a buyer without giving them a guarantee to purchase controlling interest in the future.

Snyder must also repay a $450 million debt waiver given to him by the league in 2021, when he bought out the previous group of minority investors to claim 100 percent ownership of the franchise, by 2028, which is where the debt burden comes into play.

It's created a situation where a full sale, which would allow him to clear the debt, is the most likely scenario.

Forbes estimated the Commanders' worth at $5.6 billion in its 2022 team valuations, which represented a 33 percent increase from last year.

In May, the franchise purchased 200 acres of land in Virginia for $100 million as a potential site of a future $3 billion stadium project.

The stadium plans haven't been finalized or approved, however, which means a sale in the short term would allow the Snyders to avoid having to make any private investment in the project.

All of those factors combined with numerous interested parties, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, make a full sale the most likely outcome.

The potential change in ownership comes amid a tumultuous time for the franchise.

In July 2021, the NFL fined the Commanders $10 million after an investigation detailed a toxic culture that included bullying, intimidation, multiple allegations of sexual harassment and a general lack of respect in the workplace.

Those findings led to multiple further investigations by D.C. Attorney General Karl A. Racine and the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform. Racine announced he was filing a lawsuit against the organization, Snyder, the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell on behalf of D.C. residents for "colluding to deceive" the team's fans about the workplace culture.

Don Van Natta Jr. of ESPN also reported the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Virginia opened an investigation in early November into alleged financial improprieties based on information unearthed during the Oversight Committee's investigation.

On the field, the Commanders have been one of the NFL's hottest teams with four wins in their past five games, including an upset of the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.

Washington will be back in action Sunday, when it visits NRG Stadium to take on the 1-7-1 Houston Texans hoping to move its record above .500.

Taylor Heinicke Will Start at QB for Commanders vs. Texans, Ron Rivera Says

Taylor Heinicke helped the Washington Commanders hand the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss of the season and will get another chance to keep that momentum rolling.

Head coach Ron Rivera told reporters Heinicke will start at quarterback for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. While Carson Wentz was cleared to throw, he has not yet been designated to return to practice from a broken finger.

Rivera said Wentz will need to practice at some point before he would be the backup, adding the team will "see how it goes" before determining whether the veteran will be behind Heinicke on the depth chart against the Texans.

Even if Wentz were healthy, it's hard to argue with the decision to go with the other option.

Heinicke is 3-1 as a starter this year and has helped Washington climb back into the playoff picture following an ugly 2-4 start. He has completed 62.0 percent of his passes for 840 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions while adding another 60 yards and a score on the ground.

While the turnovers are something of a concern, he has made a number of important and timely throws when games have been hanging in the balance and has a clear chemistry with No. 1 wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

McLaurin posted eight catches for 128 yards in Monday's win over the Eagles as the only Commanders player with more than three catches.

Turnovers have long been a problem for Wentz as well, who threw six interceptions in the first six games and led the league with 15 picks in just 12 games in 2020. Washington dug itself a hole in the early going of the season with the North Dakota State product under center and is just starting to climb out of it with Heinicke.

If the latter can earn another win against the Texans, it stands to reason that he will remain under center as the team looks to seize a wild-card spot in the NFC.

Eagles Rumors: Linval Joseph Agrees to Contract Amid Jordan Davis Injury

The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with defensive tackle Linval Joseph on Wednesday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the news, noting Joseph could make his season debut as soon as Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Joseph, 34, spent the previous two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers but went unsigned during the 2022 offseason.

The Eagles lost rookie defensive tackle Jordan Davis to an ankle injury earlier this month, leaving a hole in the middle of the defensive line. Joseph is clearly past his prime, during which he made back-to-back Pro Bowls in 2016 and 2017, but he's a serviceable veteran who should be fresh for the stretch run after sitting out the first half of the season.

Philadelphia allowed the Washington Commanders to control the clock with the ground game for over 40 minutes in Monday's 32-21 loss. The Commanders ran the ball 49 times against just 29 passes, which kept the Eagles' high-octane offense parked on the sidelines.

Opposing teams will see how Washington handled Philly its first loss of the 2022 season and likely attempt to enact a similar ground-and-pound plan. Adding Joseph should help plug up the gaps left by Davis.

Commanders' Ron Rivera Undecided on Heinicke, Wentz at QB After Eagles Upset

The Washington Commanders put an end to the Philadelphia Eagles' undefeated season with a 32-21 win at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, and it was Taylor Heinicke, not Carson Wentz, who powered Ron Rivera's squad to victory.

The Commanders now have a decision to make at quarterback. Will they stick with Wentz? Or will they turn to Heinicke, who has served as Wentz's backup for most of the season? Rivera is undecided.

The veteran head coach told reporters he'll put the team above all else when making his choice, per ESPN's John Keim:

"You look at what is best for the team and that's how it has to be. There's a great saying, 'You treat everyone the same, you treat everyone fair but you treat everyone according to the team. So the decision will be made about the team first and foremost. Whoever the starter is I will commit to them fully. I don't want them looking over their shoulder."

Heinicke completed 17-of-29 passes for 211 yards and one interception against the Eagles. It wasn't the most dazzling performance, but he got Washington the victory, something Wentz has struggled to do this year.

Wentz, who was traded to the Commanders from the Indianapolis Colts before the 2022 season, is on injured reserve and has been sidelined since suffering a broken finger in a Week 6 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

The 29-year-old struggled through the first six games of the season, completing 62.1 percent of his passes for 1,489 yards and 10 touchdowns against six interceptions. The Commanders went 2-4 with Wentz as their starter.

In the four games that Heinicke has been the starter, the Commanders are 3-1, and they evened their record to 5-5 with Sunday's win against the Eagles. The 29-year-old has completed 62 percent of his passes for 840 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions. He has also rushed for 60 yards and one score.

While Heinicke has played slightly better than Wentz, he told reporters after Monday's game that he won't be disappointed if Rivera decides to stick with Wentz when he is activated off injured reserve:

"If my number is called, I'll be ready to go in. Whatever decision they want to make, let's go. If I'm backing up Carson next week, great. I'm going to help him in any way that I can to get ready for that Texans game. The biggest thing for me is let's just go win. Let's keep winning whether it means playing or not."

At 5-5, the Commanders are right on the NFC playoff bubble. They'll face the 1-7-1 Houston Texans on Sunday.

Eagles' Dallas Goedert Placed on IR with Shoulder Injury; Out at Least 4 Weeks

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert will miss at least four weeks after being placed on injured reserve Wednesday with a shoulder injury.

The earliest he will be eligible to return is Dec. 18 against the Chicago Bears.

Goedert was hurt after a fourth-quarter completion which ended in a lost fumble. Washington Commanders linebacker Jamin Davis seemingly grabbed the tight end's facemask on the play, but it was uncalled on the field.

Goedert had three catches for 23 yards and a touchdown before the injury, while the Eagles suffered their first loss of the season, falling 32-21 to the Commanders.

The 27-year-old has been a key part of the Eagles offense this season, totaling 43 catches for 544 yards and three touchdowns. The fifth-year player's catches and yards per game are both a career high.

Goedert's presence in the passing game is even more valuable considering the Eagles' limited depth at receiver. A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith have a combined 90 receptions this year, but no one else on the roster has more than 12 catches.

Jack Stoll should see more playing time at tight end, yet he has only eight career receptions in two seasons. The Eagles will need more from receivers Quez Watkins and Zach Pascal, who've made minimal contributions this season.
