Fantasy Basketball 2021: Streaming Options for Injured NBA Players for Week 3

The unfortunate season-ending injury to Markelle Fultz has opened the door for the Orlando Magic's 2020 first-round NBA draft pick to grow into the offense.

Cole Anthony will likely feature in an increased role with the point guard out with a torn ACL. The rookie has had a slow start, but he could be a low-risk, high-reward pickup in fantasy basketball leagues over the next week and beyond.

The 20-year-old is the obvious replacement for Fultz, but there are other guards across the NBA worth considering as streaming options for the immediate future.

Raul Neto may be a nice end-of-week addition, with the Washington Wizards going through a back-to-back set of games. To start the season, the Brazilian has played more on the second night of those two-game stretches.

If you need frontcourt options to pick up for the remainder of Week 3, the Minnesota Timberwolves have an intriguing situation developing with Karl-Anthony Towns still out.

The Wolves play on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and have given opportunities to a handful of players down low.

Streaming Options For Injured Players

Cole Anthony, PG, Orlando

Anthony should be the natural replacement for Fultz in the Magic starting lineup.

The 15th overall pick played a season-high 32 minutes on Wednesday after his teammate was injured against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Anthony will be a popular addition to fantasy rosters, but there could be some hesitancy to bringing him on right away: He only scored eight points and missed each of his four three-point shots in his extended run on Wednesday.

But if you trust that the North Carolina product will work his way into the Orlando scoring rotation, he could help you profit right away since the Magic play Dallas and Houston to finish off a four-game week.

After Friday, Orlando has three consecutive four-game weeks, so Anthony will have time to develop chemistry with Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon and others.

Raul Neto, PG, Washington

Neto is the more experienced addition you could make as a direct replacement for Fultz to finish off Week 3.

To start the season, Washington handed Russell Westbrook some rest during the second leg of back-to-back games, which led to more playing time for the 28-year-old.

The Wizards visit the Boston Celtics on Friday and then come home to play the Miami Heat on Saturday. The clash with Miami will be the team's third game in four days.

Neto scored 34 points in his two expanded roles with Westbrook sitting. He put up 22 points on December 27 and added 12 points on New Year's Day. He is nowhere close to being the primary scorer when he is on the floor, but he should chip in a decent amount of field-goal attempts next to Bradley Beal.

If Washington employs the same back-to-back strategy on Saturday, the South American could be a nice depth piece who helps you close out the week with a victory.

Juancho Hernangomez, PF, Minnesota

Minnesota finds itself in an interesting spot until Towns is back on the floor.

The Wolves relied on Naz Reid to provide more punch down low, but that experiment appeared to end on Tuesday when the LSU product committed five fouls in 10 minutes.

Juancho Hernangomez took advantage by shooting 10-for-14 from the field and putting up 25 points in a starting role. Prior to Tuesday, he totaled 19 points in his first six games.

If Minnesota uses the 25-year-old as a starter for the rest of the week, he could be a decent addition to your fantasy frontcourt depth. If anything, the Spaniard could be picked up because of the volume of games left on his team's Week 3 schedule.

The Wolves visit Portland on Thursday and host San Antonio for back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday. If Hernangomez outperforms Reid in Oregon, he could also be a value play in daily fantasy contests during two loaded weekend slates.
