NBA Twitter Rips Warriors for Lack of Effort Without Stephen Curry in Loss vs. Knicks

The Golden State Warriors are struggling in the absence of Stephen Curry, dropping Tuesday's game 132-94 to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
The Warriors didn't put up much of a fight against the Knicks, posting 19 turnovers and 22 fouls. Additionally, the Dubs were outrebounded by the Knicks 47-29.
Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson have led the Warriors in Curry's absence, and that continued on Tuesday night, but the latter's performance was underwhelming as he finished with 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and five turnovers in 26 minutes.
Poole, meanwhile, finished with 26 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 29 minutes,
The remainder of Golden State's starting five—Draymond Green, Kevon Looney and Moses Moody—combined for just 20 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists.
The Warriors dropped to 15-17 with the loss, and they were ripped by NBA Twitter for a lack of effort against a New York team that is now 18-13 and has found its footing of late:
The Warriors look like a team that has mailed it in. Zero toughness when it starts going the wrong direction, especially on the road.
I get you don't have Curry out there. But the effort is non-existent for large portions of the game.
If the Warriors want to stay in playoff contention with Curry sidelined for at least three weeks, they'll need to sort things out quickly. With teams beginning to hit their stride ahead of the holidays, it's important the reigning champions don't fall too far out of playoff contention.
The Warriors will face the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday before hosting the Memphis Grizzlies on Christmas night.
Deion Sanders Responds to Critics of Colorado Move: 'I Understand Because It's Love'

Deion Sanders has faced some backlash after leaving Jackson State this winter to take on the job as the Colorado head football coach.
On Tuesday, Sanders said he understood the criticism and where it was coming from.
"I understand because it's love," Sanders told Shannon Sharpe of the Club Shay Shay podcast (3:40 mark). "You fell in love, and I fell in love too. And I felt like we did more than we were expected to do. We just did it so expeditiously that it overwhelmed you and you thought it was easy. Because what would normally take someone several years, we did it in two-and-a-half. That's what was staggering."
Sanders said that when he was hired in Sept. 2020, vice president and director of athletics Ashley Robinson asked Sanders to give him two years. Sanders ultimately spent three seasons at the school, going 27–6 at the school and leading them to back-to-back bowl games.
One of the criticisms Sanders addressed in the interview was why he felt as though he couldn't build up Jackson State into a national powerhouse on par with the Power Five schools.
"Tell me how you build that into a Power Five," Sanders said (10:58 mark). "Because if you go into the Power Five conference, just say the SEC, you know all the other sports have to go too. ... And also, it's criteria that the school has to pass to be in those conferences. And I don't know if that was going to be applicable to what we're trying to accomplish."
At Colorado, he'll be looking to rebuild a program that has had just six winning seasons since the turn of the century. And Sanders said he understood why some of the parting shots from some Jackson State fans weren't kind.
"People are hurt, and when people are hurt, often times their first response isn't the response that should be given," Sanders said. "They say things out of emotion and anger, but I listen. Because when a person says stuff out of emotions and anger, that's how they really feel."

Reggie Bush Slams Outgoing NCAA President Mark Emmert over Heisman Trophy Scandal

Reggie Bush has made no secret of his desire to get his Heisman Trophy back, and he called out outgoing NCAA president Mark Emmert on Tuesday.
Bush took to Twitter to air out his frustration with the Heisman Trust and Emmert, who is set to cede his position to Massachusetts governor Charlie Baker in 2023.
Bush was infamously stripped of his Heisman Trophy in 2010 after an investigation into the USC football program determined that he received improper benefits during his time at the university. Emmert became NCAA president shortly after the investigation was completed.
After the implementation of name, image and likeness deals allowed players to make money while in college, Bush felt like he was entitled to his trophy being returned.
In July 2021, he released a statement saying that he reached out to the NCAA and the Heisman Trust in an attempt to get his award reinstated along with his college records. An NCAA spokesperson told 247Sports at that time that "previous penalties, including those that are several years old, will not be reevaluated or reconsidered based on the recent changes to NIL rules."
Bush revealed in September that he had not given up on his quest, but the trust had not been amenable to his efforts to get his Heisman back. On Saturday, he posted another tweet calling out Emmert and the NCAA:
NCAA paid $8 million quietly behind closed doors trying to clean up their mistakes. I understand why you signed that non disclosure agreement Mark Emmert but I would like you to know your secret is not safe. After all these years they are still scared of #5✌🏾 pic.twitter.com/uTc3pabKup
In his Heisman-winning season with the Trojans in 2005, Bush ran for 1,740 yards and 16 touchdowns. He amassed 3,169 rushing yards and 1,301 receiving yards during his collegiate career. After 10 years away from USC, the university welcomed Bush back in June 2021.
YouTube Reportedly in 'Advanced Talks' to Secure 'NFL Sunday Ticket' Rights

YouTube is in "advanced talks" with the NFL for the exclusive rights to Sunday Ticket, per Joe Flint of the Wall Street Journal.
A deal could reportedly be reached as soon as Wednesday.
Sunday Ticket is a subscription streaming package that allows fans to watch NFL games that are out of market.
Last week, Puck's Dylan Byers and Julia Alexander reported that Amazon and Google, which owns YouTube, were the final two companies in the running for the rights to NFL Sunday Ticket.
Apple was involved in negotiations but dropped out of the race because it didn't "see the logic" in adding the package, according to Byers and Alexander.
If Google agrees to a deal, games would be streamed on YouTube TV. The alternative would be Amazon's Prime Video streaming service.
The NFL is already in business with Amazon, which purchased the rights to Thursday Night Football.
With three weeks remaining in the 2022 NFL regular season, it's no surprise the league is trying to get things secured for 2023 and beyond.
Report: Bulls Players 'Directed Frustration' at Zach LaVine During Halftime Exchange
Dec 20, 2022
MINNEAPOLIS, MN - DECEMBER 18: Zach LaVine #8 of the Chicago Bulls looks on against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the third quarter of the game at Target Center on December 18, 2022 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During the Chicago Bulls' 150-136 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, "multiple teammates directed frustration at Zach LaVine" during a "strong exchange" at halftime, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.
Johnson asked Bulls head coach Billy Donovan about the confrontation, and he said "confrontation is healthy" and that players holding each other accountable is a "good thing."
According to Joe Cowley, another confrontation occurred after the game.
The Athletic added in its report that "there's been a palpable feeling across various parts of the franchise of a disconnect over LaVine's situation in Chicago."
At this time last season, things were going well for Chicago as the Bulls were the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. This season, the team is 11th in the conference with an 11-18 record and appears far from contending with the best of the best.
LaVine spoke to The Athletic about the report and the growing frustration within the team:
"I think everybody goes through ups and downs, just like every team does. Obviously if we're not winning games, not everybody's going to be happy. It's not going to look as good as it was before. It's all glitter and show when you're winning games. But when you're losing games and you're trying to do the same things it's turmoil. Everybody has their right to their own opinion. For me, I keep my head down. I work on my game and try to help my team. I help try to lead the team. That's where I stand. I just try to take it day by day and evaluate how we're doing."
LaVine entered the 2022-23 campaign coming off back-to-back All-Star Game selections, but he hasn't lived up to the hype this season, with his numbers down across the board. Through 25 games, he's averaging 21.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 44.3 percent from the floor and 36.5 percent from deep.
After signing a five-year, $215 million max deal over the summer, the 27-year-old was expected to perform far better this year.
The Bulls have had a number of team meetings "to try and work out their issues," according to The Athletic, and that has also included one-on-one meetings between LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, who have experienced an on-court disconnect this year.
Chicago revolves around the play of LaVine and DeRozan, and if they aren't jiving on the court, then the Bulls have little chance of finding success. If the duo can figure out what the issue is quickly, then the Bulls will have a much better chance of becoming a playoff team.
Michigan's Blake Corum '50-50' on Returning to School, Entering 2023 NFL Draft

Michigan running back Blake Corum hasn't made a final decision on whether to return to the Wolverines next season or declare for the 2023 NFL draft.
Corum told ESPN's Adam Schefter that he's "50-50" and still weighing his options:
Michigan RB @blake_corum said today that he is “50-50” about whether to turn pro or stay in school.
Corum also said recently that he'll come to a decision "sooner than later," per Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News. The deadline for players to declare for the 2023 draft is Jan. 16.
The 22-year-old is in his third season with the Wolverines. In 12 games this season, he rushed for 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 80 yards and one score.
However, Corum's year was cut short after he underwent season-ending knee surgery following an injury in a Nov. 19 matchup against Illinois. He was widely considered a Heisman Trophy candidate before being sidelined.
During his time at Michigan, Corum has rushed for 2,489 yards and 31 touchdowns in 30 games, in addition to catching 40 passes for 294 yards and two scores.
Corum won't get the chance to help Michigan compete for the national title in the College Football Playoff because of his injury. The No. 2 Wolverines will begin their playoff journey against No. 3 TCU in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31.
If Corum thinks Michigan can get back to the CFP in 2023, that could also play into his decision. If he decides to return to Ann Arbor for another season, it could also help his draft stock.
However, Corum is still expected to be one of the top picks at his position in the 2023 draft despite his injury.
Some of the other top running backs who have or are expected to declare for the 2023 NFL draft include Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Zach Evans and Mohamed Ibrahim. Robinson has been viewed as a potential first-round pick, which has become rare for running backs of late.
Ravens Rumors: Sammy Watkins Claimed on Waivers After Packers Release

After his release by the Green Bay Packers on Monday, veteran wide receiver Sammy Watkins has quickly found a new home, albeit a familiar one.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday that Watkins was claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Ravens, whom he played for during the 2021 season.
Watkins failed to make much of an impact during his short time in Green Bay. He recorded 13 catches for 206 yards in nine games this season as he ceded playing time to Packers rookie receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.
The move to add Watkins comes after the Ravens reportedly suffered another blow to their already depleted receiving corps. Pelissero noted that wideout Devin Duvernay left Tuesday's practice because of a foot injury and "there is concern it could be significant." He's been placed on injured reserve.
Baltimore is already without Rashod Bateman, who is on injured reserve after season-ending foot surgery.
In his lone year with the Ravens, Watkins appeared in 13 games and caught 27 passes for 394 yards and a touchdown. However, his familiarity with Baltimore star quarterback Lamar Jackson, when he returns from a knee sprain, should benefit the team's offense.
The No. 4 overall pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2014, Watkins has not proved himself as a consistent No. 1 receiver. Having also spent time with the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs, he recorded over 1,000 yards just once in 2015. Since that year, the 29-year-old has not reached 700 receiving yards in a season.
The Ravens (9-5) will have to hope that Watkins can produce as they try to hold on to their spot in the playoffs. Baltimore will host the Atlanta Falcons (5-9) at M&T Bank Stadium on Christmas Eve.
MLB Rumors: Carlos Correa's Giants Press Conference Postponed over 'Medical Concern'
Dec 20, 2022

Carlos Correa's introductory press conference with the San Francisco Giants was postponed after a "medical concern arose" regarding his physical, according to a report from Ronald Blum of the Associated Press.
Per Blum, "One person confirmed that Tuesday's conference to welcome Correa was put on hold because the sides were awaiting the results of testing. A second person said that a medical issue was flagged during Correa's physical."
Correa, 28, signed a massive 13-year, $350 million contract with the Giants on Dec. 13, one of the biggest moves of the MLB offseason.
He was one of many prominent players to take advantage of free agency; Trea Turner joined the Philadelphia Phillies, Justin Verlander signed with the New York Mets, Xander Bogaerts went to the San Diego Padres and Jacob deGrom inked with the Texas Rangers.
While Correa's talent is unmistakable, injuries have been an issue throughout his career, as he's only played 150 or more games in a regular season once. The fact that the press conference that was set for 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday was canceled will only add greater concern to the proceedings.
I’m told that whatever was or not flagged during his physical, Carlos Correa does *not* have a back issue.
When healthy, Correa has been excellent throughout his career. The two-time All-Star, one-time champion and 2015 AL Rookie of the Year hit .291 with 22 homers, 64 RBI, 70 runs and a .834 OPS across 136 games in his lone season with the Minnesota Twins last year. He spent the first seven years of his career with the Houston Astros.
For San Francisco, Correa was just about the best consolation prize imaginable after failing to lure Aaron Judge away from the New York Yankees, who grew up as a fan of the Giants. Judge chose to remain in the Big Apple on a massive nine-year, $360 million deal.
But the Giants, looking to bolster their lineup, appeared to have locked down Correa, signed slugger Mitch Haniger and retained Joc Pederson. Now, the Correa addition is in some question.
Lionel Messi, Argentina Players Left World Cup Parade by Helicopter Due to Crowd Size

There were so many people in Buenos Aires to celebrate Lionel Messi and the Argentina national team winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup that players had to leave the bus parade celebration via helicopter.
With a crowd estimated to be as large as 5 million, authorities canceled the parade early over security concerns, according to James Grainger of the Buenos Aires Times.

Grainger added that the number of people attending the parade "made it impossible at times for the open-top bus carrying the players and coaching staff to even advance on the capital."
Portions of the parade route were completely blocked off with fans, which forced changes to be made to the route. Additionally, some fans attempted to jump onto the team's bus, and at least 18 people are reported to have injuries, according to Grainger.
The team bus was forced to drive to a nearby school before players boarded helicopters to return to their training facility just outside the Argentine capital.
Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association, released a statement on Twitter (h/t Grainger): "We were not allowed to arrive to greet all the people who were at the Obelisk, the same security forces that were escorting us did not allow us to move forward. A thousand apologies on behalf of all the champion players," Tapia wrote.
Presidential spokeswoman Gabriela Cerruti added: "The World Champions are flying over the parade route in helicopters because it was impossible to continue on the ground."
Argentina won the 2022 World Cup on penalty kicks over France on Sunday. It marks the country's first World Cup victory since 1986 and its third overall after winning in 1978.
It was a particularly special victory for Messi, arguably the greatest player in the world, as winning the World Cup was one of the only things left for him to accomplish. While the 2022 tournament was expected to be his last, Messi said that he is not retiring from the national team, which opens the door for his return to the biggest stage in 2026, when the United States will be a co-host.
