Mortal Kombat 11 Showdown 2019: Mitsuownes and Scar Win; Prize Money

You ever just want to play video games until four in the morning on a weekday? Maybe top it off with $1,000? That's what happened for Mitsuownes on the final day of the 2019 Mortal Kombat 11 Showdown after he got a text asking if he wanted to sub in for the day's tournament.
Despite living six hours ahead in Germany, Mitsu subbed in as Scar's teammate and made sure the 2019 MK11 Showdown ended on a bang. After 12 weeks of MK11 Showdown Wednesdays, this week saw a $5,000 prize pool and some serious bragging rights get divvied out.
As narrated by the velvet voices of UltraDavid and Mr. Aquaman, the day's first stage consisted of six teams (each fit with one MK pro and one amateur) playing Kasual matches to earn points. The teams were made up of Scar and Mitsuownes, Jchensor and ForeverKing, SylverRye and Unroolie, Rewind and automattock, Mustard and King Jae, and ChickityChyna and ARUU.
With each win counting for one point, the first stage ended with a tight race as the top four teams were only separated by nine points.
In the second stage, the teams were seeded based on points, and each team wagered said points on their next match. Three teams went all out and wagered all of their points, while the second-place duo of Jchensor and ForeverKing played it safe by only betting enough to make sure they wouldn't come in last place.
After defeating SylverRye and Unroolie in the second stage, Rewind and automattock's full wager guaranteed them second place and a shot at first place. But, unfazed by time-zone differences, Scar and Mitsuownes made light work of Jchensor and ForeverKing in their matches—keeping them in first and earning $2,000.
In the end, Scar and Mitsu pulled away with $2,000, Rewind and automattock got $1,200, Mustard and King Jae got $800, SylverRye and Unroolie got $500, Jchensor and ForeverKing got $300 and ChickityChyna and ARUU got $200. Huge congratulations to all of the Showdown's players and casters on a tremendous finale to a great season.
And major credit to Mitsuownes for wrapping it up with the truest words ever spoken by a postgame champion: "I'm an ELEAGUE Champion! We did it, Scar! We about to eat good today, baby. We about to eat good today."
ELEAGUE FIFA 19 FUT Champions Cup Prize Money, Final Results and Top Highlights

Manchester City defeated Chelsea on Sunday to win the Carabao Cup, but for some fans, the bigger final came later in the day as the 2019 ELEAGUE FUT Champions Cup February wrapped up in Atlanta.
Tuga810 reigned supreme in the Xbox One tournament, with F2Tekkz rolling through the PlayStation 4 tournament to set up the two-legged cross-platform grand final. F2Tekkz won 3-1 on aggregate to claim the $50,000 grand prize. Tuga810 took home $20,000 as the runner-up.
Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar is capable of pulling off spectacular feats on the pitch. The Brazilian forward would probably struggle, however, to recreate the opening goal in the grand final.
On the edge of the 18-yard box, F2Tekkz used an array of skill moves to lead Neymar on a mazy run past multiple defenders. He then fired a left-footed shot into the back post to go up 1-0.
That's how the first leg ended, and F2Tekkz drew first blood in the second as well to give himself a two-goal cushion. Tuga810 got one goal back to halve the deficit before F2Tekkz eliminated any doubt with a goal in the 65th minute.
The full results from this weekend's event are available on ELEAGUE's official site. Here are some of the highlights from Sunday, including a goal by F2Tekkz in the Xbox One final that needs to be seen to be believed.
The next FUT Champions Cup event is scheduled for next month and runs from March 8-10.

ELEAGUE FIFA 19 FUT Champions Cup Friday Results and Top Highlights

The 2019 ELEAGUE FUT Champions Cup February kicked off Friday with Swiss-style tournament play for top FIFA 19 players on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A $100,000 prize pool and valuable Global Series Points are available this weekend at ELEAGUE Arena in Atlanta.
YAGOCAI, FCB NICOLAS99FC, Ajax Tore and Sebas Ortiz are the only undefeated PS4 competitors through three rounds of competition. The fourth set of fixtures on the console was postponed until Saturday because of technical issues.
Meanwhile, two-time FUT Champions Cup winner F2Tekkz began play on Xbox with a 3-0 record to advance.
F2Tekkz, a 17-year-old gaming sensation from the United Kingdom, has established himself as the best FIFA player in the world, a status he'll look to maintain this weekend. He told Shlomo Sprung of Forbes he wants to stay atop the game's hierarchy for as long as possible, but he doesn't plan to stick around if his results fade.
"But I think I'd stop playing if I started just not [having things] going well or start losing quite a lot," he said. "I'd probably just stop playing. So whenever I drop off, I think that's when I’d stop playing."
His immense talent was on full display in Round 2 when he overcame a 4-1 deficit with an eight-goal second match to defeat Sakul in dramatic fashion (9-8 on aggregate).
BMG Phenomeno, MegaBit and ItsDoofman also went unbeaten in Xbox play.
Elsewhere, Kurt1 (aka Kurt0411Fifa) returned to competitive action after serving a two-month suspension from EA Sports. He posted a 2-2 record Friday.
A complete list of results from the day's busy schedule is available on ELEAGUE's official website.
