Odell Beckham Jr. to Visit with Cowboys After Giants Game, Jerry Jones Says

Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly intends to visit with both the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants before deciding which team to sign with, and Jerry Jones revealed Sunday when he intends to meet with the veteran wide receiver.

During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Jones said Beckham will visit with the Cowboys after their matchup with the Giants on Nov. 24.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Beckham intended to meet with both teams after Thanksgiving. Those are the only known scheduled visits for the veteran, they added.

The Cowboys have been heavily recruiting Beckham and have been vocal in their interest in the former Los Angeles Rams receiver. Quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb recently endorsed the idea of the team signing Beckham.

Dallas desperately needs another receiver alongside Lamb, who entered Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings leading the team with 53 catches for 706 yards and five touchdowns.

The next closest receiver is Noah Brown, who has caught 26 passes for 342 yards and one score.

The Giants are in a similar situation after failing to acquire a wide receiver at the trade deadline. Entering Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, Darius Slayton led the team with 19 catches for 327 yards and two scores.

No other wide receiver had cracked 200 yards receiving. Richie James had caught 20 passes for 191 yards, and Sterling Shepard had caught 13 passes for 154 yards and one score.

The Giants selected Beckham 12th overall in the 2014 NFL draft, and he spent five seasons with the franchise. If he decides to rejoin his former team, that could give the Giants an edge over the Cowboys, their NFC East rival, moving forward.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier this month:

"Beckham wants to play for a contender, and league sources are predicting that his eventual compensation package could be similar on a prorated basis to some of the free agent deals signed last offseason by fellow wide receivers such as Chris Godwin and Mike Williams, each of whom makes an average of $20 million per year."

Both Godwin and Williams signed three-year, $60 million deals with their respective teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Chargers. It's unclear if the Cowboys or Giants would be willing to commit to Beckham on those terms.

That said, there's no denying his impact.

When fully healthy, Beckham has the capability to be a difference-maker and key down-field threat. In 14 games split between the Browns and Rams last season, he caught 44 passes for 537 yards and five scores. In addition, he had 21 catches for 288 yards and two scores in four playoff games.

When he was fully healthy as a member of the Cleveland Browns in 2019, he caught 74 passes for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games.

ESPN: Odell Beckham Jr. Talking to Teams; Contract 'to Wait Until After Thanksgiving'

Despite already receiving offers from teams, free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to wait until after Thanksgiving to make a decision about his future, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Beckham has been recovering from a torn ACL suffered in last year's Super Bowl, but he's received significant interest in recent weeks as he returns to full strength.

According to Schefter, the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers are considered the top contenders to land Beckham.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network added the wideout plans to visit both the Cowboys and Giants facilities after Thanksgiving. The NFC East rivals play each other during Thursday's holiday.

The Cowboys have made no secret about their interest in Beckham. Micah Parsons tweeted at the free agent, while Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb also endorsed the potential signing.

"We have all the appreciation in the world for what he is as a competitor and know that the Cowboys star on the helmet when he puts it on could look pretty good," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of Beckham on 105.3 The Fan earlier this month (via ESPN's Todd Archer).

Giants running back Saquon Barkley has also pushed for Beckham to come back to New York, where he played his first five seasons in the NFL.

The three-time Pro Bowler could be an impact player for a contender, even waiting until after Thanksgiving. It would leave about six weeks of the regular season, plus any potential playoff games.

Last year with the Los Angeles Rams, Beckham scored five touchdowns in just eight regular-season games before adding two more scores in the playoffs on the way to a Super Bowl title.

Several contenders are hoping he can make a similar difference this season, although Schefter believes the Rams and Green Bay Packers are no longer options after falling out of playoff contention.

Odell Beckham Jr. Sues Nike, Says Company Owes Him $20M in Endorsement Contract

Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has filed suit against Nike over the last endorsement contract he signed with the company, according to TMZ Sports.

Nick DePaula of Nice Kicks reported in 2017 that Beckham re-signed with Nike after the company exercised a clause that allowed it to match Adidas' offer. The five-year pact was worth at least $29 million.

However, Beckham is contending in his suit the way the contract "was structured made it nearly impossible for him to trigger very valuable extensions of the deal," per TMZ Sports. He's alleging he lost out on more than $20 million.

Beckham said in a statement to TMZ Sports that Nike "did not honor its commitments."

"Throughout our partnership, I have kept my promise and fulfilled my obligations to the brand," he said. "I am extremely disappointed that I've had to take these measures to ensure Nike fulfills their obligations and promises."

Complex's Brendan Dunne shared some of the details from the contract:

Per Dunne, the three-time Pro Bowler said in his lawsuit that Adidas was willing to pay up to $47 million guaranteed. His annual salary would've ranged from $3.2 million to $4.2 million.

Beckham argues in the suit that "Nike is refusing to honor the deal it agreed to."

"Rather than continuing to pay the compensation and guaranteed royalties it is contractually obligated to pay Mr. Beckham, Nike is willfully withholding millions of dollars and inventing excuses not to pay him," the suit states, per Dunne.

Nike signed Beckham in 2014 as he was entering the NFL as a first-round draft pick of the New York Giants. It was a great investment out of the gate as the 5'11" pass-catcher had 4,122 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns through his first three seasons.

In a sign of his broad popularity, Beckham was the cover star for Madden NFL 16.

Thanks in large part to a series of injuries, the 30-year-old's star has faded. He missed nine games in 2020 and hasn't made his 2022 debut as he recovers from a torn ACL, the second of his career.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday that Beckham is hopeful of signing with a team by the end of November. Schefter listed the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers as possible landing spots.

NFL Rumors: Odell Beckham Jr. Delays Team Visits After Clearing Injury Rehab

The free agency of Odell Beckham Jr. has become a major story in the past week, as he was medically cleared to play, but the veteran wideout isn't going to rush back.

"He was in fact cleared medically (this week)," NFL reporter Jay Glazer said on Fox Sunday morning. "So teams wanted to bring him in this coming week. Odell wants to hold off, wants to take about two weeks to get himself back into football shape. Look for him to try and sign, perhaps, right after Thanksgiving."

That followed a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter on Saturday that noted Beckham "would like to whittle down his current list of potential teams—which includes the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers—as soon as possible and have a decision by the end of this month."

Schefter added that both the Los Angeles Rams (3-5) and Green Bay Packers (3-6) were considerations for Beckham but their current freefall out of playoff contention may take both out of the running, with the star wideout seeking to play for a contender.

It remains to be seen what type of deal Beckham receives as a free agent. On one hand, his talent is undeniable, and his turn with the Rams last year was a reminder of that, as he caught 21 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns in four playoff games, including a score in the Super Bowl before he tore his ACL.

On the other hand, he's a 30-year-old coming off of a torn ACL who had long stretches of unproductively during his time with the Cleveland Browns before he ended up in Los Angeles.

Beckham won't come cheap. As Schefter reported, "league sources are predicting his eventual compensation package could be similar on a prorated basis to some of the free agent deals signed last offseason by fellow wide receivers such as Chris Godwin and Mike Williams, each of whom makes an average of $20 million per year."

Schefter added that Beckham is expected to seek a multiyear deal. What Beckham wants compared to what teams can afford or will be willing to pay, however, will be a fascinating subplot.

"A lot of this talk is premature," a team executive told Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports. "It builds up anticipation of signing and it's creating the illusion of a market."

Perhaps. But there are enough contending teams that could benefit from another weapon in the passing game—especially one of Beckham's ilk—that it isn't hard to imagine the illusion becoming reality.

Odell Beckham Jr. Rumors: WR Wants to Join Team by End of Month amid Cowboys Buzz

Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is aiming to sign a contract with a team by the end of November, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday.

Beckham is weighing his options and reportedly has the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers on his shortlist of potential teams.

The Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers appeared to be on Beckham's list at one point, but as both teams continue to struggle and fall further in the standings, it's "less likely" he joins one of those teams, Schefter noted.

The Rams enter Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals third in the NFC West with a 3-5 record, and the Packers are second in the NFC North with a 3-6 record heading into a tough matchup against the Cowboys on Sunday.

Schefter wrote:

"Beckham wants to play for a contender, and league sources are predicting that his eventual compensation package could be similar on a prorated basis to some of the free agent deals signed last offseason by fellow wide receivers such as Chris Godwin and Mike Williams, each of whom makes an average of $20 million per year."

Godwin agreed to a three-year, $60 million extension with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Williams agreed to that same contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. Both put pen to paper on their deals in March.

Beckham, who is believed to be looking for a multi-year deal, per Schefter, is recovering from a torn ACL suffered during last season's Super Bowl. Schefter previously reported the wideout wasn't expected to return from his recovery until around Thanksgiving.

Dallas, Buffalo and New York have been particularly heavy in recruiting Beckham this fall.

Cowboys stars Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb recently endorsed a possible Beckham signing. Von Miller, who played with Beckham on the Rams last season, has been gunning for the veteran to join the Bills, and Giants running back Saquon Barkley recently pitched the idea of the three-time Pro Bowler returning to New York where it all began.

The Giants selected Beckham 12th overall in the 2014 NFL draft out of LSU, and he played five seasons with the franchise. He was then traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he spent two-and-a-half seasons before joining the Rams midway through the 2021 campaign.

When fully healthy, Beckham is a difference-maker. In 14 games split between the Browns and Rams last season, he caught 44 passes for 537 yards and five scores. He added 21 catches for 288 yards and two scores in four playoff games.

The last time Beckham was fully healthy in 2019, he caught 74 passes for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games. While it might take a bit for him to shake off any rust, he could be a key playmaker through the second half and into the postseason for whichever team signs him.

Odell Beckham Jr. of Interest to Cowboys, Stephen Jones Says

The Dallas Cowboys have already made their interest in free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. clear, and that trend continued Friday.

Executive vice president and COO Stephen Jones discussed the team's interest in Beckham with SiriusXM Radio (h/t Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk):

"But, certainly, we’re always open to making our team better. To have a guy like Odell Beckham if he’s recovered from his knee, which it sounds like he has, is a great way to make your team better. So it’s natural that we would have interest in that. And certainly, like any free agent, he can go anywhere he wants in terms of all 32. But we want to make our compelling case. And certainly at the end of the day it’s about business as well. So we’ll just roll up our sleeves and see if there’s an opportunity for us to put a star on Odell’s helmet."

Multiple Cowboys players have expressed their desire to be teammates with Beckham, including linebacker Micah Parsons, running back Ezekiel Elliott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott.

Team owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday (h/t ESPN's Todd Archer) that OBJ "is someone we have all the appreciation in the world for what he is as a competitor and know that the Cowboys star on the helmet when he puts it on could look pretty good."

Head coach Mike McCarthy raved about Beckham as well.

Dallas is a good landing spot for Beckham, who would help form a deep wide receiver quartet with Lamb, Michael Gallup and Noah Brown.

The Cowboys are also Super Bowl contenders after getting off to a hot start at 6-2, matching the NFL's third-best record thus far.

The problem is that Beckham has plenty of suitors and potential teammates vying for his services, including Von Miller with the Buffalo Bills and Saquon Barkley with the New York Giants. The Kansas City Chiefs also appear to be in the mix.

Beckham has been working his way back from a torn ACL suffered in last year's Super Bowl when he played for the eventual champion Los Angeles Rams. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported Sunday that Beckham would be cleared this week.

The 30-year-old Beckham is a three-time Pro Bowler with five 1,000-yard seasons under his belt.

Saquon Barkley Endorses Odell Beckham Jr. Returning to Giants amid Cowboys Interest

As the Dallas Cowboys pursue Odell Beckham Jr., the NFC East rival New York Giants could also look to sign the free-agent receiver.

"He knows how I feel about him, how we feel about him," Giants running back Saquon Barkley told reporters Friday.

Beckham spent the first five years of his career with the Giants, earning three Pro Bowl selections, and overlapped with Barkley during the 2018 season.

"Personally I think it would be a great story to come back," Barkley said.

The Cowboys have been aggressively recruiting Beckham, with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb recently discussing the wideout. Linebacker Micah Parsons also tweeted at the veteran recently.

Barkley indicated he doesn't need Twitter to talk to Beckham:

Beckham recently discussed potential landing spots with Complex, mentioning both the Giants and Cowboys as well as the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers.

The 30-year-old was a game-changer for the Los Angeles Rams last year, scoring five touchdowns in eight regular-season games. He also scored in the Super Bowl as the squad took home a championship.

Beckham tore his ACL in the title game and has been recovering since, although Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported he was expected to be cleared this week.

The Giants are a surprising 6-2 this season, but they need help at receiver with no one on the roster totaling more than 250 yards. After trading Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs, Beckham could immediately become the team's most explosive pass-catcher and help change the landscape of the NFC East.

Jerry Jones: Cowboys' Odell Beckham Jr. Interest Reminds Me of Deion Sanders Pursuit

Nov 11, 2022

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is happy the team's players are pushing free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to join the organization.

Jones told a story Friday on 105.3 The Fan about the Cowboys' free-agent pursuit of Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders in 1995:

Several Dallas players have talked about the potential of adding Beckham, a three-time Pro Bowl selection who's nearing the end of his recovery from a torn ACL suffered in February's Super Bowl, for the stretch run of the regular season.

  • QB Dak Prescott said: "Anytime you have a chance to add a talent like that and knowing Odell and knowing his resume, it's exciting. But also understand it's a business, and I’m sure there's 31 other teams that would like to add him as well."
  • RB Ezekiel Elliott said: "We want him. We want OBJ."
  • WR CeeDee Lamb said: "That's my boy. I'm a fan of Odell. Why wouldn't you want to add more firepower to the offense?"
  • LB Micah Parsons said: "S--t we can use him. I think he's a great player. He'll expand this offense. He's a guy you want on the team beside all the other critics stuff that people make up and s--t about him. He can add real value to the team and help us do what we want to do."

Jones didn't rule out the potential of signing Beckham during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday.

"Odell is someone that we have all the appreciation in the world for what he is as a competitor," Jones said. "I know the Cowboys star on that helmet, when he puts it on, could look pretty good."

Dallas' passing game could use a boost with Michael Gallup making a limited impact following his return from a torn ACL and James Washington yet to play this season because of a foot injury.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday that Beckham would be medically cleared this week and is likely to sign with a Super Bowl contender.

The Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers are the teams most frequently linked to the 30-year-old LSU product. A possible return to the New York Giants, where he played from 2014 through 2018, has also been mentioned.

Even if he signs in the coming days, it'll likely take a couple weeks of conditioning before OBJ is ready to make his season debut. The hope would be gradually getting him involved so he's back up to full speed in time for the playoffs.

As the free-agent pursuit continues, Dallas (6-2) will look to continue its winning ways Sunday when it travels to Lambeau Field to face off with the Green Bay Packers (3-6).

Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott on Odell Beckham Jr. Contract Rumors: 'We Want OBJ'

The Dallas Cowboys have not been shy about recruiting free-agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr., with Ezekiel Elliott the latest to push for a deal.

"We know what type of player Odell is," Elliott told reporters Wednesday. "We know how explosive he can be and what he could bring to this offense. It would be great to get him down here in Dallas. … He would definitely fit in this locker room. We want OBJ."

Beckham has been recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in last year's Super Bowl, but Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported the veteran will be cleared by the end of this week.

Glazer added that there will be a "bidding war" for Beckham, listing the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams as possibilities, but he is "firmly on the Cowboys radar," per Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Dallas has also been public in its pursuit of Beckham, with linebacker Micah Parsons recruiting the wideout on Twitter.

"Odell is someone that we have all the appreciation in the world for what he is as a competitor," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday on Shan & RJ on Audacy's 105.3 The Fan.

Beckham can certainly help the Cowboys if he is healthy. The three-time Pro Bowler scored five touchdowns in eight regular-season games with the Los Angeles Rams last year, adding two more in the playoffs on the way to a Super Bowl title.

Dallas' CeeDee Lamb has been productive this season, but receiver depth has been an issue after dealing away Amari Cooper in the offseason. Michael Gallup has been up-and-down since recovering from his knee injury, leaving Noah Brown as the team's No. 2 receiver with 339 yards this season, nearly double his previous career-high (184).

Adding Beckham to an offense that already has a productive rushing attack with Elliott and Tony Pollard could be difficult to defend for the stretch run of the season.
