New York Giants coach Joe Judge said Wednesday that Daniel Jones is "on track with everything" to clear concussion protocol ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Jones left his team's Week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys late in the second quarter. His coach said the quarterback can start in Week 6.

"I would say from all the information we have, yes," Judge said. "If he is cleared medically, he would be an option."

Jones reportedly worked out with trainers Wednesday.

Mike Glennon took over for Jones during the 44-20 loss, finishing with 196 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The 31-year-old would start if Jones is unavailable. He has nine years of NFL experience, including 27 starts.

Glennon was 0-5 last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, completing 62 percent of his passes for 1,072 yards and seven touchdowns with five interceptions.

Jones, the No. 6 pick in 2019, has completed 64.3 percent of his passes this season for 1,282 yards and four touchdowns against one interception. He's also run for 197 yards and two scores on 30 attempts.

The Giants (1-4) could be shorthanded either way against the Rams after Saquon Barkley (ankle) and Kenny Golladay (knee) also suffered injuries Sunday. They did not practice Wednesday.

Report: Giants' Kenny Golladay Avoids Serious Knee Injury; Likely Out 'A Week Or Two'

New York Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay may only miss the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Rams.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Golladay should be sidelined for "just a week or two" thanks to the knee injury he suffered during Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Rapoport noted the injury designation represents a "major sigh of relief" since "the initial fear was that it was major."

Any injury to the wide receiver was bound to cause concern in New York since he played just five games last year for the Detroit Lions thanks in large part to a hip injury.

The Giants signed Golladay this offseason, and he has responded with 17 catches for 282 yards and zero touchdowns through five games. It is a far cry from his Pro Bowl campaign in 2019 when he finished with 65 catches for 1,190 yards and a league-best 11 touchdowns.

Golladay's setback was far from the only one for the Giants on Sunday.

Quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley were each carted off the field at different times. New York was also without wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton because of hamstring injuries.

That didn't leave a lot of playmakers remaining in the aerial attack, although rookie Kadarius Toney took full advantage of the depleted depth chart with 10 catches for 189 yards. He flashed the potential that convinced the Giants to select him with the No. 20 overall pick of the 2021 NFL draft.

It wouldn't be a surprise to see Toney lead the team in targets during the game against the Rams with Golladay sidelined.

Giants' Kadarius Toney 'Needed to Apologize' to Everyone for Punching Damontae Kazee

New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney was ejected from Sunday's 44-20 loss against the New York Giants after punching Damontae Kazee.

On Monday, he said he apologized for his actions.

"Me and [head coach Joe] Judge talked," he told reporters. "It was a one-time thing. I've got to learn from it. ... I felt like I needed to apologize to, mainly, everyone."

Toney's ejection was a blight on an otherwise stellar performance.

The rookie wideout caught 10 passes for 189 yards on 13 total targets, carving up the Dallas defense. While some of that usage came out of necessity—Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton missed the game because of injury and Kenny Golladay and Saquon Barkley each left the contest with injuries of their own—Toney made the most of his opportunity.

And after a slow start to the season, he's now caught 16 passes for 167 yards in the past two games.

But his ejection was the storyline after the contest.

"Look, there's a pretty distinct line in terms of competing and doing the things we're not going to condone as a team that put us behind. That's not going to be accepted," Judge told reporters. "It's not going to be condoned. That's as far as I'm going to go with that. Obviously, it resulted in him leaving the game and I'm just going to leave it at that right now."

As for future punishment, the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Toney "will be evaluated for a likely fine but no suspension."

Given New York's spate of injuries, Toney should again be a featured target in Sunday's tough matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

The New York Giants couldn't follow up their first win of the 2021 season with a first divisional victory of the year, but it was a series of injuries that caused most concern at AT&T Stadium after the 44-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday...

Giants' Joe Judge: Kadarius Toney's Ejection for Throwing Punch Won't Be 'Condoned'

Oct 11, 2021

Independent of whatever the NFL does, New York Giants rookie Kadarius Toney can expect some consequences from his coaches after getting ejected from Sunday's 44-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

"That's not going to be acceptable," Giants head coach Joe Judge told reporters. "That's not going to be condoned."

Toney was dismissed in the fourth quarter after throwing a punch at Cowboys safety Damontae Kazee.

The ejection overshadowed Toney's 10 receptions for 189 yards. The 2021 first-round pick had 10 catches for 92 yards in four games entering Sunday.

Though Judge was stern in addressing the situation, it seems doubtful the Giants will levy their own suspension against Toney. Judge said he would "let the league deal with that" when asked about the wideout potentially missing any time.

Based on recent precedent, a fine is the likeliest outcome.

Former Chicago Bears receiver Anthony Miller avoided a suspension after punching C.J. Gardner-Johnson during last year's playoffs. New Orleans Saints star Cameron Jordan and Denver Broncos cornerback Michael Ojemudia met the same fate for similar infractions.

Javon Wims, then of the Bears, did get a two-game ban one season ago after going out of his way to throw multiple punches at Gardner-Johnson.

Were the NFL to come down hard on Toney, it's exactly what a banged-up Giants offense doesn't need.

During training camp, the Giants were involved in a brief team-wide fracas. Judge's response was forcing the players to run the length of the field and do extra push-ups. Toney may want to steel himself now for a difficult few days of practice this coming week.

New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney was ejected from Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys after throwing a punch at Cowboys safety Damonte Kazee.

Toney was shoved to the ground after making a catch and then threw the punch at Kazee in retaliation.

Toney apologized to the Giants organization on Monday:

Prior to his ejection, Toney was having the best game of his rookie season with 10 catches for 189 yards. After losing receiver Kenny Golladay and running back Saquon Barkley to injuries early in the game, the Giants decided to feed Toney, and he delivered in a big way.

New York was also without receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton, who were inactive against Dallas because of hamstring injuries.

Entering Sunday's game, Toney recorded 10 catches for 92 yards on 14 targets in through four games this season. He was not targeted and recorded no stats after playing just 19 snaps in the Giants' Week 2 loss to the Washington Football Team. His previous best game came in the Week 4 win over the New Orleans Saints as he registered six catches for 78 yards.

Toney had the best season of his collegiate career as a senior with 70 receptions for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns, leading the Giants to draft him out of Florida with the 20th overall pick. He missed time at the start of training camp after being placed on the COVID-19 list.

It remains to be seen if Toney will face any discipline for his actions on Sunday. If he were to miss time, it would leave the Giants incredibly thin at the receiver position after all of the injuries this week.

Giants' Kadarius Toney Fantasy Outlook After Breakout Game, Kenny Golladay Injury

This is the receiver the New York Giants thought they were getting when they selected Kadarius Toney in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft.

Toney caught 10 passes for 189 yards on 13 targets prior to his ejection in the fourth quarter.

The Giants needed the rookie to deliver after Kenny Golladay suffered a knee injury that knocked him out of the game.

Toney was almost nonexistent in New York's offense through three games. He had four catches for 14 yards over that span. Then he had six receptions for 78 yards in a Week 4 victory over the New Orleans Saints as Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton were unavailable.

The hamstring problems limiting Shepard and Slayton have opened the door for Toney to shine, and now there may be no going back.

Based on Sunday's production, the 22-year-old is likely to be one of the most-added receivers on the waiver wire heading into Week 6. Fantasy football managers who are looking for help at wideout should put in a claim now because he may not be available for much longer.

Projecting his value over the next few games is nonetheless a little tricky after Daniel Jones left Sunday's game with a concussion.

Although Jones has his fair share of detractors, New York's passing game will take a step backward if Mike Glennon is under center in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams. That, in turn, could limit Toney's fantasy ceiling.

But you should target Toney now and figure out his place in your lineup later.

Giants' Kenny Golladay Won't Return vs. Cowboys Because of Knee Injury

New York Giants wideout Kenny Golladay was ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys with a knee injury, per the team

The 27-year-old was the crown jewel of the Giants' offseason, signing a four-year, $72 million deal. They brought him aboard to be the top receiving option on a promising offense that also includes superstar running back Saquon Barkley and pass-catchers Darius Slayton and Evan Engram.

When healthy, Golladay has been a productive player and set career highs in receiving yards (1,190) and touchdowns (11) in the 2019 season with the Detroit Lions. But hamstring and hip injuries limited him to just five games in 2020.

Injuries became a concern at training camp as well when the Northern Illinois product left the team's first padded practice with a tweaked hamstring. That cost him some time during training camp but didn't result in him missing any time during the regular season.

The Giants have to be somewhat concerned, though, that their prize addition is already having so many injury setbacks. In a wide-open NFC East, the Giants have a real shot of winning their first divisional title since the 2011 season. Those aspirations will be much harder to achieve with Golladay sidelined.

The Giants are already incredibly thin at wideout, with Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard missing Sunday's contest due to injuries. Quarterback Daniel Jones was also ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion, leaving Mike Glennon to rookie Kadarius Toney as the team's top connection in the passing game.

Devontae Booker's Updated Fantasy Outlook After Saquon Barkley's Injury

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys and was ruled out to return after being carted back to the team's locker room.

This is a tough blow for a player who returned to the field after suffering a season-ending torn ACL in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears last year. The Penn State product has been a superstar talent at his best, notably leading the NFL with 2,028 scrimmage yards during his rookie year in 2018.

Unfortunately, the Giants will have to play without Barkley, and Devontae Booker is next on the depth chart.

Booker entered the game with seven carries for 22 yards and three catches for 14 yards.

The Giants signed the ex-Denver Bronco and Las Vegas Raider to a two-year, $5.5 million contract last offseason. The 29-year-old had 507 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on 110 touches in 2020.

From a fantasy perspective, it's worth placing a waiver claim on Booker in season-long leagues, but there are reservations against him breaking out despite the possible increased opportunities.

For starters, Booker has never consistently soldiered the backfield load in his career outside a six-game stretch in which he averaged 20.5 touches per contest, per Pro Football Reference. That was in his rookie season of 2016, and the fourth-rounder out of Utah has largely been a backup and passing-down option ever since.

It's not realistic to think that Booker will go out there and soak up 20 touches per game.

Second, the Giants have multiple backfield options. New York can turn to rookie Gary Brightwell out of Arizona if it so chooses, for example.

Third, if last year is any indication, head coach Joe Judge and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett may not be inclined to ride one back until Barkley returns.

Wayne Gallman was the team's top rusher after Barkley went down, but he averaged 11.9 touches per game, according to Pro Football Reference. Alfred Morris and Dion Lewis also saw work.

The Giants overhauled their entire backfield outside Barkley in the offseason, but the guess here is that New York takes a similar approach and doesn't anoint any one player as the backfield bell-cow in his absence.

In addition, the Giants have a strong pass-catching crew this year, so the team could opt to take to the air more with new talents like Kenny Golladay and Kyle Rudolph in the mix.

In sum, Booker is worth adding in season-long leagues, but unless you're in a pinch to plug in a starter, better options could be had. The same goes for daily fantasy leagues, as Booker may not get the touches suitable for a true No. 1 running back.
