Fantasy football players received positive news in the last 24 hours regarding two of the NFL's most notable stars.

Aaron Rodgers has been practicing for the Green Bay Packers despite not finishing Week 12's Sunday night clash with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rodgers may not be at 100 percent, but he is on track to play against his favorite opponent, the Chicago Bears, in Week 13.

Christian McCaffrey is in good shape to appear Sunday in the San Francisco 49ers' battle with the Miami Dolphins. The running back told reporters he felt fine Thursday after he missed practice Wednesday.

Other notable setbacks across the NFL are not as positive. Below is a look at the full list of injuries that could affect your fantasy football matchups in Week 13.

  • Aaron Rodgers, QB, GB: practiced Friday (rib/thumb)
  • Christian McCaffrey, RB, SF: "feels fine", full participant in practice (knee)
  • Justin Fields, QB, CHI: full participant in practice/no injury designation, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
  • Treylon Burks, WR, TEN: back at practice Friday, per ESPN's Turron Davenport.
  • David Njoku, TE, CLE: out (knee), per NFL.com.
  • Najee Harris, RB, PIT: expects to play Sunday (oblique), per NFL.com.
  • Jerry Jeudy, WR, DEN: practiced Friday (ankle), per NFL.com.
  • Michael Carter, RB, NYJ: doubtful (ankle), per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
  • Travis Etienne, RB, JAX: questionable (foot), per NFL.com.
  • Matthew Stafford, QB, LAR: out (cleared concussion protocol), per Schefter.
  • Mike Williams, WR, LAC: not practicing Friday (ankle), per The Athletic's Daniel Popper.
  • Josh Jacobs, RB, LV: practicing Friday (calf), per ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.
  • Joe Mixon, RB, CIN: still in concussion protocol, per ESPN's Ben Baby.
  • Leonard Fournette, RB, TB: full participant in practice (hip), per NFL.com.
  • Jameson Williams, WR, DET: no decision made on status (knee), per ESPN's Eric Woodyard.
  • Ja'Marr Chase, WR, CIN: questionable (hip), per NFL.com.
  • Antonio Gibson, RB, WSH: questionable (foot), per ESPN's John Keim.

Aaron Rodgers Practices Again Friday

Rodgers was present at Green Bay Packers practice Friday, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur liked what he saw out of Rodgers in Thursday's practice, which is a promising sign for the quarterback's effort to play against the Bears.

Fantasy football players with Rodgers on their roster hope he will be in action Sunday.

Rodgers typically feasts on the Bears defense. He had 234 passing yards and two touchdown passes against them in Week 2. He averages 242.3 yards per game versus his NFC North rival and is 23-5 against the Bears with 63 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Green Bay's offense is in a better place than it was in Week 2 for the first divisional clash with Chicago. Christian Watson has emerged as a go-to guy and a red-zone threat and AJ Dillon has worked into a rhythm in the backfield alongside Aaron Jones.

Rodgers may have an extra offensive weapon to work with Sunday, as Romeo Doubs has been practicing with the team this week. Doubs has not played since Week 9 because of an ankle injury.

McCaffrey Will Play Despite Injury Scare

McCaffrey is expected to be on the field Sunday for the 49ers' clash with the Dolphins.

He missed practice Wednesday, but he returned Thursday and told reporters he "feels great," per NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.

McCaffrey's absence Wednesday gave a scare to fantasy football players because he was not expected to be on the injury report.

The running back's comments Thursday reassured fantasy players he will be available for one of the few massive showdowns Sunday.

McCaffrey could be relied on more against the Dolphins because Elijah Mitchell (knee) is once again out injured. McCaffrey has not had more than 40 rushing yards in each of his last three games. He had 123 receiving yards in that stretch.

San Francisco's featured back could be in for a larger workload Sunday because of the circumstances facing the 49ers offense.

49ers' Christian McCaffrey Feels 'Great' After Knee Injury Scare In Week 12

San Francisco 49ers fans can breathe a sigh of relief because it appears running back Christian McCaffrey will take the field for Sunday's showdown against the Miami Dolphins.

"I feel great," he said Thursday when discussing the knee concerns that could have potentially limited him in the contest, per Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

McCaffrey sat out Wednesday's practice after the early walk-through portion.

"He just felt something in it, some irritation," head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters.

That it appears McCaffrey will play is all the more important for San Francisco considering running back Elijah Mitchell will miss six-to-eight weeks with an MCL sprain he suffered during a win over the New Orleans Saints.

Mitchell also suffered a knee injury during a Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears and didn't return until Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The 49ers acquired McCaffrey earlier this season in a trade with the Carolina Panthers, adding to a group of weapons that already included Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk. That group, along with a formidable defense, is a major reason why the team has won four games in a row and looks like a Super Bowl contender.

Yet losing McCaffrey and Mitchell from the backfield would greatly decrease the team's ceiling, especially since there may still be questions about Jimmy Garoppolo's ability to win a Lombardi Trophy as a thrower.

Jordan Mason and Tyrion Davis-Price provide depth at the running back position, but neither of them can change a game the way McCaffrey can.

The Stanford product has 634 rushing yards, 479 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns across 11 games for the Panthers and 49ers this season.

Relying solely on the waiver wire to address your team needs is a lot like hiring a guy to serve as your head coach even though he doesn't have any experience performing the role at either the professional or collegiate levels: It might work out OK, but is it really a risk worth taking?

No, it isn't. Don't be the Indianapolis Colts of your fantasy league.

100. Chase Claypool, WR, Chicago Bears

So, what exactly is Justin Fields' trade value after his enormous Week 9?

Well, that's up for debate, but what isn't is that the Chicago Bears quarterback has emerged as a weekly must-start option unless you have a top-five player at the position already on your roster.

Fields now has five straight weeks with 17 or more points in standard leagues and has notched a whopping 92 points in the past three weeks.

Not that there aren't concerns.

The 23-year-old has only thrown for 200 or more yards once this season. He only has three weeks this season with multiple touchdown passes, though he has thrown for five scores in the past two weeks alone.

An enormous chunk of his fantasy value is coming from his rushing ability.

The positive side is that the Bears, finally, seem to be embracing this part of Fields' skill set, so it's very possible his rushing impact will be able to shoulder the load for his fantasy value the rest of the year.

Unfortunately, your days of buying low on him in a trade are probably over. And unless you already have another top quarterback option, there's little reason to trade him.

You are probably a week late if you were hoping to pull the trigger on a Fields deal, but it can't hurt to try.

If you are looking for a player who might be had for cheaper than his actual value, though, consider Allen Lazard.

The difference between his ranking in overall points in standard PPR leagues (27th) and his ranking in fantasy points per week played (16th) is fairly significant, especially when you consider that two of the players above him in the latter ranking are on injured reserve (Marquise Brown, Michael Thomas) and two more (Ja'Marr Chase, Mike Williams) are out several weeks with injuries.

So, on a weekly basis among healthy players, you can make the argument that Lazard is the 12th-most valuable wideout.

Considering the 26-year-old hasn't dipped below nine points in any game he's played this year, has hit the double-digit mark six times, is averaging 7.2 targets per game and is finding the end zone with solid consistency (five scores), he is very quietly an excellent WR2.

But you might be able to nab him for low-end flex prices. It's a move you should strongly consider. The Green Bay Packers may be a mess, but Aaron Rodgers trusts Lazard and he's the one wideout consistently producing for him.

ESPN: Rams' Trade Offers to Panthers for Christian McCaffrey, Brian Burns Revealed

Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead maintained his blasé attitude toward draft picks ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Rams put two first-round picks and a second-rounder on the table for Carolina Panthers defensive end Brian Burns. They were also willing to part with Cam Akers and picks in the second, third and fifth rounds for Christian McCaffrey.

The Panthers held onto Burns but sent McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers for 2023 second-, third- and fourth-rounders and a fifth-rounder in 2024.

The Panthers didn't initiate a total fire sale in the wake of firing head coach Matt Rhule, but they've clearly started focusing on a rebuild.

Burns is coming off a Pro Bowl in 2021, and he has five sacks to open 2022. Still only 24, he has a bright future ahead. Still, you can't help but wonder whether Carolina was better off cashing in on his trade value now.

https://twitter.com/IanKenyonNFL/status/1589252928917102593

By turning down Los Angeles' offer, the Panthers might have done the Rams a favor.

Snead's approach to team-building has served the franchise well in the short term. L.A. reached the Super Bowl in 2018 and claimed a title last year.

The downside to consistently leveraging draft picks into ready-made talent is becoming apparent now, however, with the Rams getting off to a 3-4 start. They've been hammered by injuries and lack the depth to compensate.

Los Angeles has an aging core and might face a painful transition when the likes of Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp and Jalen Ramsey retire. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported Wednesday on The Rich Eisen Show that head coach Sean McVay "in all likelihood" will leave when those four are no longer on the team.

The Rams already owe their 2023 first-round pick to the Detroit Lions as part of the Jared Goff trade. Losing out on two more first-rounders in pursuit of Burns would've further hamstrung Snead's ability to fill out the squad with young, cost-controlled talent.

At some point you have to demonstrate some faith in your own talent development.

Assuming he doesn't turn around and deal the picks later, Snead should send a gift basket to Panthers GM Scott Fitterer if he winds up getting valuable contributors in the first round in 2024 and 2025.

Bills Discussed Christian McCaffrey With Panthers But Never Made Offer, Beane Says

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane said the team expressed interest in trading for running back Christian McCaffrey but ultimately declined to make an offer to the Carolina Panthers.

“I know [rumors] started with McCaffrey,” Beane told reporters Wednesday. “Yes, that was the last draft I was there in Carolina. Know him well. When you hear he’s on the block, I wouldn’t be doing my due diligence to not look into that. ... I did speak to the Panthers GM. Never made him an offer but did stay in touch through the process. Ultimately, it [the trade price] was going to be more than we were going to be able to do.”

The Panthers traded McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for second-, third- and fourth-round picks in 2023 and a fifth-round selection in 2024.

Beane said the Bills did not have any discussions with the New Orleans Saints about trading for Alvin Kamara, who wound up staying put past Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline.

Buffalo addressed its running back position by trading Zack Moss and a conditional sixth-round draft pick to the Indianapolis Colts for Nyheim Hines. Largely used as a third-down back during his career, Hines will mix in with Devin Singletary and James Cook to give the Bills three versatile backs—albeit ones who don't pack a McCaffrey-level punch.

Hines has never rushed for more than 380 yards or carried the ball more than 89 times in a season.

A heavy Super Bowl favorite at +225 (bet $100 to win $225) at DraftKings Sportsbook, Buffalo's addition of Hines is the type of move that can help on the margins without a seismic draft-pick investment. It's likely the odds would have shot down even further in the event McCaffrey became a Bill, but Beane has already built a juggernaut offense without the help of a superstar in the backfield.

The Bills are banking on the versatility and freshness of their backs making a difference in January.

NFL Trade Deadline 2022: Twitter Reacts to Trades, Fails, Surprises and Non-Deals

Nov 1, 2022
New Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson
New Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson

The 2022 NFL trade deadline came and went Tuesday. While the National Football League rarely sees the flurry of activity that other leagues have—specifically MLB—there was quite a bit of activity ahead of this year's by the 4 p.m. ET cutoff.

The deadline action really began on Oct. 20, when the San Francisco 49ers acquired star running back Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers.

McCaffrey saw a significant workload Sunday in his second game as a 49er. In a 31-14 rout of the NFC West rival Los Angeles Rams, McCaffrey logged 94 rushing yards, 55 receiving yards and 34 passing yards while scoring touchdowns in all three categories.

The 26-year-old's breakout performance definitely had social media buzzing.

Acquiring McCaffrey cost the 49ers second-, third- and fourth-round picks in 2023. Already, some believe that was a good deal for San Francisco.

While McCaffrey was the trade-deadline story of Sunday, he didn't remain at the center of the spotlight. On Monday, the Chicago Bears dealt star linebacker Roquan Smith to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2023 second- and fifth-round picks along with linebacker A.J. Klein.

The Smith trade came mere days after the Bears sent standout pass-rusher Robert Quinn to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2023 fourth-round pick.

It seems the Bears are signaling they're looking to rebuild long-term. Some believe that this is a gutsy route that is smart for Chicago to take.

Naturally, others believe Chicago is taking a major risk.

Smith is an absolute difference-maker, and he'll be a major asset for the Ravens. This season the 25-year-old has a league-leading 83 tackles, 52 solo stops, three passes defended, two interceptions, 2.5 sacks, and five quarterback pressures. He has allowed an opposing passer rating of only 73.2 in coverage.

Plenty of folks are excited to see what Smith can bring to a Ravens defense that ranks 24th in yards allowed and 20th in points surrendered.

Another notable name was Tuesday, as the Detroit Lions sent 2020 Pro Bowler T.J. Hockenson to the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings.

The move made perfect sense for the Vikings, who are sitting at 6-1 and believe that tight end Irv Smith Jr. is expected to miss 8-10 weeks with a high ankle sprain. Hockenson topped 700 receiving yards during his Pro Bowl campaign and has 26 receptions for 395 yards and three touchdowns this season.

While the Lions are getting a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 third-round in exchange for Hockenson, a 2023 fourth-round pick and a 2024 conditional fourth-round pick, the idea of Detroit helping out a division rival is a bit perplexing.

Unsurprisingly, some Green Bay Packers fans weren't too happy that their team wasn't the one willing to strike a deal with Detroit.

The Packers also missed out on trading for Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Chase Claypool. He was dealt to the Bears instead, who have clearly prioritized building around Justin Fields over winning this season.

Yep, that's another pass-catcher to an NFC North team that isn't Green Bay.

https://twitter.com/IanKenyonNFL/status/1587485437588901889

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Steelers will get a second-round pick in return for the Notre Dame product.

The Steelers also acquired Washington Commanders cornerback William Jackson III, according to Rapoport. This could be seen as a big win for Washington, which was largely expected to release the 30-year-old if a trade didn't materialize.

The Miami Dolphins, on the other hand, are in win-now mode. They made a blockbuster trade for Denver Broncos pass-rusher Bradley Chubb just before the deadline. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Denver will get San Francisco's 2023 first-round pick (acquired in the Trey Lance trade), a 2024 fourth-round pick and running back Chase Edmonds for Chubb and a 2025 fifth-rounder.

The Dolphins are also expected to work out a new long-term deal with Chubb—who is an impending 2023 free agent—per Schefter.

In Miami, Chubb will pair with 2021 first-round pick Jaelan Phillips to give the Dolphins one of the more intriguing young defensive tandems in the conference.

Miami also acquired running back Jeff Wilson Jr. from the 49ers in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick, according to Schefter.

In one of the more surprising moves of the day, the Jacksonville Jaguars acquired suspended Atlanta Falcons receiver Calvin Ridley. The 27-year-old pass-catcher was handed an indefinite suspension for betting on the NFL; he was a 1,300-yard receiver in 2020.

According to Rapoport, it's a conditional deal that could be worth as low as a 2023 sixth-rounder to Atlanta and as high as a 2023 fifth-rounder and 2024 second-rounder—depending on if Ridley is reinstated, makes the team, hits certain milestones and signs a long-term extension.

It's a relatively low-risk move for Jacksonville that could have a huge long-term impact for quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars offense.

One receiver who wasn't dealt was Houston Texans standout Brandin Cooks. According to Rapoport, "there were talks," but nothing materialized.

The Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills swapped running backs Nyheim Hines and Zack Moss, with Indy picking up a conditional 2023 sixth-round pick in the deal, per Schefter.

Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers wasn't traded at the deadline, and he may not suit up for Los Angeles again this season.

In all, it was a wild deadline day that featured its fair share of activity, surprises and reactions.
