The Boston Red Sox were slow out of the gates in 2022, but they have steadily climbed back into contention in the AL East and are once again looking like a threat to return to the postseason.
The farm system could play a role during the second half of the season with top prospects Triston Casas and Brayan Bello both playing at the Triple-A level and capable of helping out in short order.

Farm System Progress Report

The Red Sox checked in No. 19 in our most recent farm system rankings, which were updated on May 30.
Last year's top pick Marcelo Mayer is hitting .323/.393/.527 with 15 extra-base hits in 107 plate appearances in his full-season debut, and he could be a top 10 prospect in baseball by midseason.
Meanwhile, first baseman Triston Casas has an .816 OPS with six home runs and 22 RBI in 36 games at Triple-A Worcester, and it's only a matter of time before he supplants the platoon of Bobby Dalbec and Franchy Cordero at first base in Boston.
On the pitching side, Brayan Bello (10 GS, 2.41 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 76 K, 56.0 IP) has jumped on to B/R's Top 100 list with a strong start in the upper levels of the minors, while Brandon Walter (10 GS, 3.83 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 70 K, 51.2 IP) is a name to know moving up the organizational rankings.
Potential Draft Targets

The Red Sox have the No. 24 overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft, which gets underway on July 17 during MLB All-Star weekend. Here's a look at some recent mock draft projections:
B/R Mock Draft (5/19): OF Dylan Beavers, California
Beavers hit .303/.401/.630 with 11 doubles, 18 home runs and 49 RBI during his sophomore season last year, but he struggled in the Cape Cod League and playing for Team USA last summer. Despite that, his stock remained high thanks to his power potential, and he's made strides this spring.
MLB.com Mock Draft (6/1): OF Jordan Beck, Tennessee
A strong 6'3", 225-pound outfielder, Beck has raised his OPS from .859 last year to .948 this spring while hitting .291/.378/.570 with 14 doubles, 16 home runs and 56 RBI. He fits the prototypical right field profile with plus power and a strong arm.
Baseball America Mock Draft (6/3): OF Dylan Beavers, California
With a .291/.427/.634 line that includes 16 doubles, 17 home runs and 50 RBI in 56 games, Beavers is having a great spring. He has also increased his walk rate from a solid 12.7 percent to an elite 18.8 percent, which should help offset some of his swing-and-miss concerns. Can he hit with wood?
