WWE NXT 2.0 Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from June 7

In the aftermath of NXT In Your House 2022, the June 7 edition of WWE NXT 2.0 had plenty of questions to answer.

Toxic Attraction still has control of NXT 2.0, and no one was clearly set up to challenge Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne.

However, the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament was coming to end with the winner potentially going after either Toxic Attraction title. Roxanne Perez would challenge Tiffany Stratton for the honor.

Alba Fyre is also a potential challenger to the NXT women's champion, but she would first face a fresh threat of her own in Tatum Paxley.

Von Wagner has thrown his weight around NXT without care, and Josh Briggs hoped to be the man who could put a stop to his antics.

Bron Breakker has put Joe Gacy behind him and needs a fresh challenger. Carmelo Hayes took back the NXT North American Championship from Cameron Grimes. Legado del Fantasma was forced to disband and work for Tony D'Angelo after the group's loss at In Your House.

All of this and more defined a show that was ready to push NXT 2.0 forward with a number of fresh angles.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams celebrated the NXT North American champion's win until Solo Sikoa interrupted. Grayson Waller refused to let Sikoa take his shot, helping the heels in the ring stomp down the potential challenger.

This was a fine but unexciting opener. Given how much action dominated In Your House, this could have been a match to hype up the crowd while following up on that night's momentum. It would have also been fine if this actually set up anything. Hayes vs. Sikoa was already the plan, and nothing changed here.

Sikoa should have a great match with The A Champion, but it seems unlikely Melo will lose the gold so soon. This means Sikoa will lose another big match in his slow climb up the ranks.

Notable Moments

• Trick took a shot at the Boston Celtics, only for Melo to reveal is from Boston. This could be the smallest of hints that these two will be feuding sooner rather than later.
• In the trainer's room, Sikoa demanded a match with both Melo and Waller for later.

Von Wagner took a cheap shot at Brooks Jensen's injured arm, only to find out he was healthy.

Jensen threw his cast into the ring, which Josh Briggs used to smack Wagner in the face. Briggs hit a clothesline to win.

There wasn't much of a match here, but the result left an impact. Wagner has dominated the competition for a while and could have been a challenger to Bron Breakker soon, but he fell to a tag team wrestler.

Hopefully, this means Briggs and Jensen will be on the rise before long. Briggs is a talented big man when he gets the time to perform. Wagner will come for his revenge, and we will hopefully get more of a match then.

Notable Moments

• Sofia Cromwell and Mr. Stone were at ringside, but they did not get involved in the action this time.

On commentary, Tony D'Angelo spent his time questioning Santos Escobar's offense. His family was too much of a distraction throughout the match, which allowed Nathan Frazer to hit Escobar with an enzuigiri and Phoenix Splash to win.

This was a marked improvement over the first match in every way. It helps to have two talented high-flyers going at it, but it is even more important to have time and a clear story.

This could have been a better match with less distractions, but there was no way it could not go down like this. It was important to show the effect Tony D is already having in breaking down Escobar. It will help The Emperor find his voice as a babyface when he fights back.

Notable Moments

• Tony D forced Escobar to open his car door for him and then told The Emperor he was wrestling.
• Escobar hit Frazer with a suicide dive, only for The Don to tell him he needed to stop doing that move. He also insulted his Boston Crab attempt.
• Frazer caught Escobar with a back elbow and a standing shooting star press.

Bron Breakker put over how much Joe Gacy challenged him before turning to the future and questioned who would challenge him next.

Apollo Crews made a surprise entrance and established he is back with NXT to rewrite his history on the brand.

These main roster NXT returns have been constantly solid, but this could be the best yet for everyone involved. Crews has been underused for over a year. He had no spot on WWE Raw.

It seems he will establish a new legacy in NXT 2.0. While it is not clear when he will fight Breakker, it is important Crews spends at least a few months in NXT. He needs to show off how good he can be.

Notable Moments

• Crews dropped all of his main roster gimmick for this appearance, including his bad accent.
• Xyon Quinn told Wes Lee he had one week before they fought again.
• Joe Gacy announced the in-ring debut next week of his disciples, The Diad.

Tiffany Stratton used her power advantage against Roxanne Perez, but the 20-year-old speedster responded with a variety of fast sequences to stay in the fight.

As Stratton went for a pop-up moonsault, Perez rolled away and hit Pop Rox to win.

Cora Jade celebrated with Perez and handed her the title contract she had earned. Toxic Attraction arrived to taunt the winner. Mandy Rose kept talking until a brawl broke out, and Indi Hartwell helped even the odds.

This was the best Stratton has ever looked, proving the value of Perez in NXT. She is leagues above the brand's other new talent and can help push them to greater heights. She needed to win as the one woman in NXT 2.0 who can help stop Toxic Attraction.

The post-match shenanigans kicked off the story of Perez's title match. She will have to choose whether she wants to face the women's champion or the tag team titleholders. Either way, she has back-up that can make sure she gets a fair fight.

Notable Moments

• Perez grabbed the hand of Stratton and headed to the top rope, but Stratton tripped her, sending her to the floor outside.
• Perez hit a top rope Bronco Buster and then hit a second to the floor after Stratton tried to escape.
• A crucifix pin and powerbomb both nearly got Stratton the three-count.
• Backstage, Stratton interrupted Wendy Choo's interview and got a drink to the face.

Andre Chase came out firing against Pretty Deadly, but the numbers game was too much for him.

Hayward crawled to the ring to help his teacher, but Thea Hail had to take his spot. She never got to tag in before Chase fell to Spilt Milk.

When he has the right motivation, Chase is a fun babyface who can light up a crowd quick. That said, he was never going to do much against Pretty Deadly. This was barely a match.

Chase U will likely get a fairer rematch down the line as Elton Prince and Kit Wilson wait for their next title shot. The most interesting part was the tease of Hail wrestling, but that did not happen just yet.

Notable Moments

• Andre Chase presented a scholarship to Hail. Pretty Deadly taunted all of Chase U until Chase made fun of them for losing at In Your House and they scurried off.
• Later in the night, Chase U found Hayward, who had been injured by Pretty Deadly.
• Hail never got to tag in, but she did get the chance to slap Prince in the face.

Tatum Paxley tried her best to challenge Alba Fyre, but she was no match. The KLR Bomb set up a senton bomb for Fyre to win. Afterward, Lash Legend booted Fyre in the back of the head.

This was a simple squash match. While Paxley has shown some potential, no one can do anything in less than two minutes. This was all about further establishing one of NXT's best.

If anyone can give Legend a good match, it is Fyre. She could be the perfect rival to help the rookie find her stride. That said, Fyre cannot lose the forthcoming contest.

Notable Moments

• Paxley tried to roll out of the way of the senton bomb, but Fyre hit it on her half-way across the ring.
• Malik Blade and Edris Enofe challenged The Creed Brothers for a title match next week.
• The debut of Giovanni Vinci was announced for next week after showing he is the former Fabian Aichner.

Apollo Crews arrived to team with Solo Sikoa for the main event in his attempted revenge against Carmelo Hayes and Grayson Waller.

While the heels looked good together, Crews ended it by countering the rebound cutter into a spin-out powerbomb.

This was a showcase match, highlighting what the talent in the ring could do. There was not much story, but the action was impressive. In particular, the strength of Crews was on display constantly.

It was a nice way to help reintroduce fans to a man who has been barely used on television. He was instantly a bigger star than anyone in the match. Sikoa did not actually get the pinfall on Melo here, so it's likely the feud still has a while left to go.

Notable Moments

• Crews kept Waller up in a delayed suplex for a crowd count of 30.
• Sikoa finally got Melo in the ring alone, pulling him in and running him down. However, Waller saved The A Champion from a corner hip attack, and Melo rebounded with a cutter off the ropes.
• Crews got the hot tag tag, planted Waller and Melo with suplexes and landed a standing moonsault.
