Triple H Revives Another WWE Career, AEW's To-do List and More Friday Takes

The Friday night block of wrestling featured some fun action on both WWE SmackDown and AEW Rampage, so fans continued to be spoiled with great content.
The blue brand opened with a match between Ricochet and Baron Corbin that was lauded by fans on social media for allowing the high flyer to do what he does best for once.
Liv Morgan delivered a promo and got a shocking amount of heat from the crowd when she acknowledged how her match ended with Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam.
However, the biggest news of the night was the return of Karrion Kross and Scarlett at the end of the show. Kross beat down Drew McIntyre, so it looks like we may already know what his first feud will be back in WWE.
Over on Rampage, Jade Cargill threw down a challenge for Madison Rayne, and Konosuke Takeshita got a win over Ryan Nemeth to pick up some momentum heading into his ROH world title match against Claudio Castagnoli on Saturday.
Ricochet Deserves the Spotlight
This week's SmackDown opened with a match between Corbin and Ricochet that had the crowd in the arena on its feet.
Not only did the high flyer look better than he has in a long time, but it was clear by how he was presented that he will be a bigger deal moving forward.
With Triple H running the show now, it's no surprise to see some of his NXT projects being used in a more meaningful way. We saw it with Ciampa on Monday, and now we have seen it with Ricochet on Friday.
This is yet another noticeable change under the new regime. Ricochet may have had a little bit of success under Vince McMahon, but he was always positioned as an underdog. In this bout, he felt like a valiant fighter.
However, we need to be patient. Triple H liking Ricochet does not mean he is going to be thrust into the world title scene right away. It's going to take time to build him up again, but The One and Only could be one of WWE's most valuable assets by this time next year.
WWE Botched the Ending of Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey
Liv Morgan came out to give a promo about what happened at the end of her match against Rousey at SummerSlam, but it didn't go the way she planned.
As the champ talked about how she survived armbar after armbar, the crowd began to turn on her with chants of "You tapped out."
Out of all of the booking decisions WWE made at SummerSlam, the ending of Morgan vs. Rousey is arguably the worst, and we saw the fallout from that this week.
Having the double finish with Rousey being pinned as Morgan tapped out sounds fine on paper, but it would have been more effective if Rowdy Ronda got herself disqualified out of anger because Morgan kept finding a way out of her submissions.
Triple H has earned plenty of praise for the immediate changes we have seen to the product since he took over, but no booking will ever please everyone.
The good news is Morgan can easily recover from this. She has the support of the WWE Universe and is very likable, so it's doubtful she will be booed out of every arena. She will probably receive positive reactions again by next week.
The Return of Karrion Kross Is a Good Sign
As McIntyre confronted The Bloodline on SmackDown, he was blindsided by a returning Kross and his wife, Scarlett.
This comes just days after Dakota Kai made her return to WWE at SummerSlam, and it's a good sign that more names could be on their way back to the company.
Over the past few years, WWE has released well over 100 Superstars while allowing a few others to go when their contracts expired. With Triple H now running things, we could see some of those people find their way back to WWE.
Two names that get thrown around a lot for potential returns are Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. The former NXT mainstays left WWE on good terms and were known to be favorites of Triple H, so speculation about a comeback will continue to rise.
When he was called up to the main roster, Kross was given a weird helmet and wasn't booked nearly as strongly as he was in NXT. It was confusing to a lot of people because he fits the mold of a WWE Superstar so well. He has the look, physical ability and skill to be everything the company wants in a top star.
With Kross and Scarlett returning and immediately targeting one of the top stars on SmackDown, it looks like WWE is finally going to give him a big push to see if he connects with the entire audience. If this works out, more people who left WWE may see the promotion as a viable option again.
AEW Is Not Using Jade Cargill Enough
This week's Rampage featured the AEW TV debut of Madison Rayne in a match against Leila Grey, but it was what came after it was over that really mattered.
Once Rayne had secured the win, Jade Cargill arrived and invited her to Dynamite to challenge her for the TBS Championship. While this made her look like a fighting champion, it also highlighted a recent issue.
For the past few months, it has felt like AEW pushed Cargill into the background after spending well over a year building her up into one of the most unstoppable forces in the company.
She still makes appearances for promos, but her match frequency has gone way down. If AEW wants us to think of the TBS title as something to be coveted, it needs to start featuring it and the champion on TV more often again.
With Stokely Hathaway as her manager, Cargill is even more marketable than she was before. AEW has a lot of people it needs to utilize better, but the people holding the titles should always be front and center.
AEW Needs to Sign Konosuke Takeshita If Possible
For the past couple of months, AEW has been bringing in talents from Japanese promotions, especially during the buildup to the Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
One of those stars is DDT Pro Wrestling's Takeshita. Since the moment he arrived on the scene, the AEW audience has embraced him in every way.
Takeshita doesn't give many promos in AEW, but the crowd loves him. He has that intangible quality that makes the audience connect with him in a way some wrestlers are never able to replicate.
Something about this guy makes him special, and if AEW has the option to sign him to any kind of regular deal, it should jump at the chance.
This would obviously depend on Takeshita's willingness to continue traveling to the U.S. while still fulfilling his other obligations, but if there is a way to make it work, Tony Khan should get on that soon.
