The college football regular season is over. Conference championship weekend has passed. It will soon be time for the bowls to get underway.

There's still plenty of action to come in the 2022 season, as there are 42 more games to be played. Among those are the two College Football Playoff semifinal matchups on Dec. 31, then the CFP National Championship Game on Jan. 9.

No. 1 Georgia will take on No. 4 Ohio State in the Peach Bowl, while No. 2 Michigan and No. 3 TCU are set to face off in the Fiesta Bowl. The winners will advance to play for the national title.

There are quite a few bowl games on the schedule before getting to that point, though. And some of the matchups should provide plenty of entertainment.

Here's the full bowl schedule for this season (along with odds and picks for each). Then, we'll take a closer look at the first two games on the slate, both of which are set for Saturday.

Bahamas Bowl: Miami (Ohio) vs. UAB (-11)

The first game of bowl season will feature a pair of 6-6 teams. However, even though UAB and Miami (Ohio) had the same record during the regular season, the Bahamas Bowl may not turn out to be evenly matched.

UAB won two of its final three games and finished 4-4 in Conference USA play. But the Blazers had some impressive losing efforts, too, as they took UTSA (the eventual Conference USA champions) to double overtime and narrowly lost to Liberty.

Miami won three of its final four games to finish 4-4 in MAC play. But the RedHawks didn't have that challenging of a schedule, and they lost in lopsided fashion to the two best teams they faced (Kentucky and Cincinnati).

So it's not a big surprise that UAB is an 11-point favorite to win the Bahamas Bowl. The Blazers have also reached a bowl game for the sixth consecutive season, and they beat BYU in the Independence Bowl last year.

There's a good chance that Miami will struggle to stop UAB junior running back DeWayne McBride, who has rushed for 1,713 yards and 19 touchdowns this season. He was also named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year.

The Blazers should lean heavily on McBride, who will likely cap his year with another impressive effort. His performance will power UAB to a sizable victory as well, so bet on the Blazers to cover the spread in their final game under interim head coach Bryant Vincent before Trent Dilfer takes over.

Prediction: UAB 31, Miami (Ohio) 17

Cure Bowl: UTSA (+1) vs. Troy

Who would have thought that the only bowl game that would feature a pair of conference champions would be the Cure Bowl? Yet, that's the case, and the game should be one of the better ones within the first few days of bowl season.

UTSA lost a pair of early-season games against quality opponents in Houston and Texas, before rattling off 10 consecutive wins, including a victory over North Texas in the Conference USA Championship Game. The Roadrunners won all nine of their contests against conference opponents.

Troy had a similar season. It also lost twice in its first three games, falling to Ole Miss and Appalachian State, the latter marking its first Sun Belt contest of the year. But the Trojans are now on a 10-game winning streak after beating Coastal Carolina in the Sun Belt Championship Game.

The betting line has Troy as a one-point favorite, but this is a matchup that could go either way. And it's likely to be a competitive game.

UTSA quarterback Frank Harris is about to complete his sixth year at the school (and has already announced he'll be back for a seventh). He's had an impressive season leading the Roadrunners' offense, passing for 3,865 yards, 31 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The prediction here is that UTSA will need to put together a late scoring drive in the Cure Bowl, and Harris will help it do just that. Bet on the Roadrunners to come out on top narrowly to cap their strong season.

Prediction: UTSA 31, Troy 28
