Dolphins' Biggest Sleepers, Busts, Stars to Target in 2022 Fantasy Football Drafts

The Miami Dolphins will have an increase in fantasy football attention during the 2022 NFL season.

The addition of Tyreek Hill to a wide receiver room that already included Jaylen Waddle gives the AFC East side two dynamic targets for Tua Tagovailoa to work with.

Hill has been a fantasy football darling for quite some time, and he should be one of the most coveted wide receivers in fantasy drafts leading up to Week 1.

The Hill-Waddle duo has the potential to be one of the best in the league, but that is dependent on how much Tagovailoa improves in the pocket.

Miami also made upgrades at running back, where Chase Edmonds, Sony Michel and Raheem Mostert top the depth chart.

The Dolphins have been one of the few teams to avoid when it comes to fantasy running backs over the last two years, and there is a slight chance that trend continues with Edmonds, who could be the No. 1 running back on a team for the first time in his career.

Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle

Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle will be talked about together in almost every conversation regarding the Miami Dolphins.

Hill was added through a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs to become the co-No. 1 wideout alongside Waddle, who had a breakout season in 2021.

Hill owns four 1,000-yard seasons in his six-year career and he has 24 receiving touchdowns over the last two seasons.

The former Kansas City wideout also has 31 rushing scores in his career, nine of which occurred in the last two seasons.

Miami's offense will utilize Hill in the traditional No. 1 wide receiver role, but he could also add a few rushing touchdowns to give the Dolphins more options in the red zone.

Hill should be drafted ahead of Waddle because of his track record from Kansas City and his dynamic playmaking ability.

Waddle may not be far behind on draft boards. He broke out with 104 receptions, 1,015 receiving yards and six touchdowns in his rookie season.

Some teams could struggle to have one 1,000-yard receiver in 2021. Miami will push to have two, as long as Tua Tagovailoa finds a rhythm in the pocket early on in the season.

Waddle's targets may go down a bit, but there is a wide gap between himself, Hill and the rest of the wide receiver corps in Miami. That should lead to an abundance of targets for both players, who would top most fantasy football rosters at wide receiver.

Cedrick Wilson

While we are on the topic of wide receivers, let's discuss Cedrick Wilson as a potential sleeper in the Miami passing attack.

Wilson is the clear No. 3 behind Hill and Waddle, but he could serve as a solid depth piece for the Dolphins, and for fantasy football players in need of a diamond-in-the-rough type draft pick in the latter rounds.

Wilson produced 45 receptions, 602 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 2021 for the Dallas Cowboys, all of which were career-high totals.

The fourth-year wide receiver could benefit from all of the defensive attention laid on Hill and Waddle to have a few breakout games throughout the season.

Wilson may be most valuable for his touchdown numbers. He had eight scores in the last two seasons for Dallas and will be an underrated red-zone option for the Dolphins.

Because of Hill and Waddle's presences, Wilson is nothing more than a late-round fantasy pick, but he might be worth a selection if everything comes together in Miami.

Tua Tagovailoa

Tagovailoa has not reached the middle echelon of fantasy football quarterbacks during his time in the NFL.

The Alabama product should still have question marks around his performance in 2022, even with the addition of Hill.

Tagovailoa has 27 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in his two-year career. He has not thrown for more than 2,700 yards in a single season and has played 21 of a potential 33 games.

Staying healthy has to be the primary goal for Tagovailoa, and if he does that, he could easily set career bests in all of the major passing categories.

He is still considered a sleeper in fantasy football circles because of the unknowns surrounding his performance with an elite-tier wide receiver.

Tagovailoa's ceiling is remarkably high in 2022, but the floor is what should scare some fantasy players. The Dolphins are one quarterback injury away from once again struggling on offense.

Mike Gesicki

Mike Gesicki might be in the most difficult position of all of Miami's marquee offensive players.

In previous seasons, Gesicki was the go-to guy in certain situations, and he was the No. 2 target at worst in the offense.

In 2022, Gesicki could be the fourth target at best if the wide receiver group gets off to a fast start.

Gesicki is coming off back-to-back 700-yard seasons, but his touchdown count is not good enough to match the best fantasy tight ends in football. He found the end zone twice in 2021.

We could be proved wrong if the wide receivers open up space for Gesicki in red-zone situations, but the abundance of options in the Miami passing game could stunt his statistical growth in 2022.

Raheem Mostert

Miami overcorrected its running backs issues from the previous two seasons by adding three veterans to the 2022 roster.

Chase Edmonds is expected to be the feature back, while Raheem Mostert and Sony Michel are next on the depth chart. Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed might be gone by the end of training camp.

Mostert finds himself in a peculiar situation because of the skill sets of Edmonds and Michel. Edmonds can be a primary back who also thrives in the passing attack, and Michel could be used in short-yardage and red-zone situations.

That leaves Mostert fighting for the production in between those situations and not being able to replicate his 772-yard, eight-touchdown season from 2019.

Mostert's health should also be an issue for fantasy football players. He has nine appearances in the last two seasons.
