Bears Players Who Should be on the Trade Block After Week 3
Bears Players Who Should be on the Trade Block After Week 3

The top end of the Chicago Bears' 2021 NFL draft class has not panned out the way the franchise hoped it would.
The Bears will continue to attempt to get Justin Fields to improve at quarterback, but time may be up for 2021 second-round pick Teven Jenkins.
Jenkins was benched in Week 3, and he faces a tough fight to regain his position in front of Fields on the right side of the offensive line.
Chicago should still try to get the best out of Jenkins. The team may need him if an injury comes up, but if that does not happen, he may be the best trade option on the active roster.
The Bears roster is in flux because of the coaching change made in the offseason and the roster turnover that came with it.
There are not many strong trade targets on the roster, but if another team comes calling for offensive line help, the Bears could at least consider dealing Jenkins.
Teven Jenkins

Teven Jenkins lost out on the starting right guard job in Week 3.
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus opted to give Lucas Patrick the start, and Jenkins was on the field for just 35 percent of the team's offensive snaps.
Eberflus cited practice performance as the deciding factor to hand Patrick more time on the interior over Jenkins, per NBC Sports Chicago's Josh Schrock.
"It's about practice," Eberflus said Monday. "We evaluate practice. Wednesday is a big day for us, Thursday, and Friday. We thought that Lucas did a good job of practicing. He was solid in his practice. Teven did a nice job on Thursday and Friday but needs to have a better Wednesday for him to step into that role."
Patrick will be the Bears' starting center when he is 100 percent healthy, but that does not mean Jenkins will slide right back into his starting spot. He will have to compete with Sam Mustipher, who has been starting at center, for time.
If Jenkins loses out to Mustipher, the Bears may want to consider trading the second-year player.
Chicago has given Jenkins plenty of opportunities to earn and keep a starting spot, but a change of scenery may end up as the best solution for all parties.
DeAndre Houston-Carson

DeAndre Houston-Carson was on the field for eight defensive snaps in Week 3.
That seems like a low total, but it was actually the highest snap count of the season for the reserve safety.
The Bears do not have a starting spot for the veteran right now because Jaquan Brisker has taken over the spot next to Eddie Jackson.
The rookie out of Penn State has 20 tackles and a fumble recovery in his first three NFL games.
Brisker's production next to Jackson is incredibly promising for the Bears, but it also takes away snaps that Houston-Carson might see.
Houston-Carson can still be a solid backup for the Bears, but if he wants to play more, he may require a move elsewhere with Brisker shining in his starting role.
Nathan Peterman

Nathan Peterman is on the Bears practice squad.
At the moment, Justin Fields and Trevor Siemian are the two quarterbacks on the active roster.
Siemian's presence on the active roster suggests he would be the option if Fields continues to underwhelm in the pocket.
Peterman could just be picked up by another team to fill a backup spot on a depth chart, but the Bears can possibly sign him and make a trade for a late-round draft pick.
The 28-year-old has not been great during his time in the NFL, but he has starting experience that some teams may value if the quarterback market dries up with injuries across the league.
Peterman is not the first choice, or maybe even not the fifth or sixth choice, for a team to bring in as a quarterback reinforcement, but his experience as a backup and spot starter could help a team somewhere else during the season. That may intrigue the Bears enough to try and collect a draft pick for him by trading him from the active roster.
