WWE Raw Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from August 1

Welcome to Bleacher Report's coverage and recap of WWE Raw on August 1.

This is the post-SummerSlam episode, and that means the show dealt with all of the fallout from the pay-per-view while beginning to put more effort into building up Clash at the Castle on September 3.

This gives WWE five weeks to make Clash must-see. So far, the only contest booked for the event is Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre.

Monday's show featured The Usos putting the undisputed tag team titles on the line against The Mysterios, and two Triple Threat matches determined who would get to compete for a shot at the Unites States Championship held by Bobby Lashley.

Let's look at what went down.

Raw opened with Becky Lynch coming out with her arm in a sling from the injury she suffered during her SummerSlam match against Bianca Belair. She received a big pop from the crowd and gave what was clearly designed to be a babyface promo.

Big Time Becks called The EST of WWE to the ring so she could properly express her respect before she left the champ to speak to the crowd. Belair said she has nothing but respect for Lynch.

We then saw a shot of Bayley, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai attacking Lynch backstage. Belair tried to help, but she was too late.

This segment effectively turned Lynch into a full face, set up Belair's next feud and kicked off the show in a great way. This was solid from top to bottom.

Grade: B+

As soon as the bell rang, The Miz hopped out of the ring so Mustafa Ali and AJ Styles could fight. The A-Lister tried to get in some cheap shots, but his rivals took him out momentarily.

We saw every combination of opponents work together at different times, and each competitor had a chance to be the one controlling the pace. Some Triple Threat matches feel too busy, but these three Superstars did a good job keeping it manageable.

The Miz often played the spoiler, while Ali and Styles were the ones hitting moves that got the crowd on its feet. It was an effective way to use these three specific performers.

After The A-Lister came close to winning with his finisher, Styles secured the victory to advance in this mini tournament by hitting Ali with the Styles Clash on top of The Miz.

This was just great wrestling from start to finish. There wasn't a single weak link.

Winner: AJ Styles

Grade: A-

Notable Moments and Observations

• The shade of green on The Miz's gear almost hurts to look at.
• Styles slapped the taste out of Ali's mouth at one point. It may have connected harder than intended, but Ali seemed fine.
• Ali hitting Styles with a rolling neckbreaker while The Phenomenal One struck The Miz with a reverse DDT was a great spot.
• The way Styles won the match was awesome.

Seth Rollins came out to deliver a promo, but The Street Profits quickly interrupted him. They decided one of them should face The Visionary Monday night, but Montez Ford cheated and ran to the ring with the ref.

Rollins tried to hit the Stomp right away, but Ford was too quick. After the tag team specialist had the upper hand for a minute, The Visionary turned things around and almost won by count-out.

Both of these men are known for being agile, strong and versatile, so it should come as no surprise that they put on a fun and frenetic bout. Neither competitor had the upper hand for long, so it felt competitive.

This was clearly WWE testing Ford's ability to be a singles star, and he passed the test with flying colors. Rollins is one of the measuring sticks in the company, so having a great showing against him is going to be good for Ford. What that means for The Street Profits remains to be seen.

Rollins got the win with a Stomp, but before he could hit a second, Angelo Dawkins made the save.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Grade: A-

Notable Moments and Observations

• Ford cheating Dawkins out of the chance to wrestle was funny but also indicates a breakup may be coming.
• The first shot to the face that Ford hit looked and sounded stiff. Rollins kept going, but that had to sting a bit.
• The crossbody Ford hit was a thing of beauty.
• Ford almost botched his kip up, but he managed to save it for the most part.

The top of the second hour began with Alexa Bliss and Asuka making their entrances for a singles match. Both women received a warm welcome from the crowd and shook hands before locking up.

After Bliss got in some good offense, The Empress of Tomorrow began to build some momentum. Right as she hit a dropkick from the middle rope, Bayley, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai ran to the ring and began attacking both women.

Belair ran down to clear the ring, so it looks like we know who will be joining forces with The EST to battle this new group moving forward.

The exchange Bliss and Asuka had was good, and even though a no-contest finish isn't ideal, it sets up a lot more for the future.

Winner: No-contest

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observations

• Bliss' old music was good, but her new theme fits her well, too.
• The Goddess hitting several punches and knees in a row made her look vicious. Asuka is one of the best strikers, so Bliss winning an exchange like that made her look good.

The second Triple Threat of the night determined who would battle AJ Styles later in the show for a shot at Bobby Lashley's United States Championship.

Chad Gable gave a brief promo beforehand to get some heat, but as soon as the bell rang, Ciampa was the one in the driver's seat.

Gable and Dolph Ziggler did a great job using their amateur wrestling background to make their exchanges fun, but Ciampa was never too far away.

This was yet another fun, fresh matchup on this week's show. All three Superstars were clearly trying to impress the crowd, and that led to the fans being into every second of the action.

After everyone had a few close calls, Ciampa was able to get the win with the Fairytale Ending.

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

• Watching Gable roll over a guy who is bigger than him and pick that person up in a fireman's carry will always be impressive.
• Ciampa looks so weird with brightly colored gear, especially since it matches The Miz.
• It felt like the announcers were purposely ignoring Ziggler's recent feud with Theory, so that may be over for now.
• Gable looked like he hit Ciampa right in the head with his flying headbutt. Both guys might need an ice pack in the aftermath.

Edge came out and gave a babyface promo establishing that he was no longer the jerk he used to be while running The Judgment Day. He said it's time to kill what he created and vowed to end the group once and for all. This was short and sweet.

The next match of the night saw Iyo Sky take on Raw women's champion Belair. The EST took control at first by using her power to back Sky into the corner, but The Genius of the Sky was not about to spend the whole match on defense.

Sky took control as the show cut to a break, but Belair started to make a comeback as soon as we returned. The next few minutes saw both women come close to winning a couple of times. Once The EST swung Sky into the barricade, Bayley and Kai sat on the apron to block her from getting back in the ring.

Asuka and Bliss came down to even the odds right as we went to another interval. The match continued without a fight breaking out right away, but everything broke down eventually and we got a brawl with all six women.

Another no-contest finish is not ideal, but this also felt like it served a greater purpose, so it's not as bad as it would be if there wasn't going to be a follow-up to this. Everything we saw here was entertaining, and that's the most important thing.

Winner: No-contest

Notable Moments and Observations

• Giving Edge back his old music went a long way toward making it easy to forgive all of the insults he called us for a couple of months.
• Sky was wearing a lot of tight, black gear in NXT. It appears she has gone back to a style closer to what she had when she debuted in WWE.
• When Belair was unable to lift Sky from the ground, Sky countered with a side Russian leg sweep. It felt like that was an improv move to cover for The EST having a little trouble.
• Belair's spinebuster was nasty but in a good way. It looked painful.

The two men who won their Triple Threat matches earlier in the night met for one more fight to see who would be the next challenger for the U.S. title.

The Miz was at ringside to support Ciampa's efforts, and Booker T was on commentary to talk about the importance of the U.S. belt during the match.

What took place here was a fast-paced and physical matchup between two guys who are known for their ability to perform at a very high level. They aren't longtime rivals who have fought many times, but they did display some great chemistry.

The Miz saved Ciampa from being pinned by putting his foot on the rope, and that allowed the former NXT champion to regain control of the situation.

When Styles got back into the ring, Ciampa hit his finisher for the pin and what might be the biggest win of his career.

Grade: A-

Notable Moments and Observations

• Styles did a great job selling an injury from the previous match.
• The ref was really screaming at The Miz to back off at one point. It was kind of funny how wild he sounded.
• The suplex Styles hit into the corner almost had a bad ending. It looked good, but Ciampa almost fell right on his head.
• The jumping knee Ciampa hit to block the Phenomenal Forearm might be the best spot of the night.

Rey and Dominik Mysterio were given a shot to win gold this week when they faced Jimmy and Jey Uso for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships.

The father-son team took control as the bout began, but it didn't take the brothers long to turn it back in their favor.

This contest was given most of the last half-hour of the show, so they had plenty of time to build this as competitive without rushing from spot to spot.

The Mysterios came close to winning when Dom hit a nice frog splash from the top rope, but Jey narrowly saved Jimmy from the pin. A few moments later, The Usos hit the 1-D for the pin and the win.

This was a decent contest, but it may have gone a few minutes more than necessary, which is not the kind of thing we usually say about any Usos match.

The Judgment Day ambushed The Mysterios afterward and attacked them until Edge ran down to make the save. He accidentally Speared Dominik and chased Damian Priest through the crowd as Rey checked on his son and Rhea Ripley laughed about it.

This was easily the best episode of Raw we have seen in months, maybe years. It felt like every segment served a purpose without being a total repeat of something we saw last week.

Notable Moments and Observations

• During the break, the PIP showed a spot where Jey kicked Rey's leg out from under him and he fell into the Tree of Woe. It's not an uncommon spot, but this particular execution of it looked great.
• Dom's white gear looked cool, but he and Rey usually match. It was odd to see them looking so different this week.
• Rey countering The Usos finisher with a hurricanrana looked good.
