AEW Rampage Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from December 16

Welcome to Bleacher Report's coverage and recap of AEW Rampage on December 16.

Dustin Rhodes teamed up with Orange Cassidy and Best Friends for a huge eight-man tag match this week against The Butcher, The Blade, Kip Sabian and Trent Seven.

Wardlow was in action, Skye Blue battled Britt Baker, and Jon Moxley took on Sammy Guevara to open the show.

Let's take a look at what went down during Friday's episode of Rampage.

Moxley and Guevara were already in the ring to kick off the show with their match, so we were deprived of seeing Mox make his entrance.

Surprisingly, the high-flyer took control early by employing the same kind of aggression for which Moxley is known. He used a lot of strikes, but getting into a fist fight with the former world champion is rarely a good idea.

After Moxley began to fight back, Guevara started to employ some of the high-flying offense that has made him famous.

But it was just a matter of time before Moxley picked up the win. He did a lot to sell for Guevara, but The Spanish God was unable to survive the Bulldog Choke.

This was a much more violent match than most people probably expected. Moxley is known for his bloody encounters, but Guevara isn't. While it may have been unintentional, having a little color in this match after Guevara ripped out Mox's earring helped make it feel more competitive.

Mox called out Adam Page after the match, and The Cowboy was more than happy to meet him in the aisle for a fight. Security eventually broke them up, but Page got in more shots.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

• Moxley's cutter was a bit sloppy, but Guevara sold it well. 
• The live crowd got to see it, but not having Moxley's entrance shown on TV feels weird. His entrance music is as over as he is. 
• Seeing Guevara rip the earring out of Moxley's ear during the break was brutal. His ear was bleeding after it happened. Tay Melo wiped some of Moxley's blood on his face before slapping him. 
• Guevara and Melo kissing while both were covered in Moxley's blood was disgusting. 

DMD was accompanied to the ring by Jamie Hayter and Rebel for her match against Blue.

The 23-year-old underdog tried to get an early advantage but found herself having to kick out of a pin after being hit with a double underhook suplex.

Blue did her best and got in some good offense, but this was always going to end with Baker scoring the win. We just saw Action Andretti upset a former champion on Dynamite. The odds of seeing it happen again on Rampage in this bout were low.

This was a decent match, but it was relatively basic, too. Having Hikaru Shida show up with a kendo stick to have a confrontation with Hayter was a good way to cap this segment, though.

Winner: Britt Baker

Grade: C+

This was quickly followed by Wardlow squashing local talent Exodus Prime.

He may have had a name like a Transformer, but he was no match for The Wardaddy. The former TNT champion picked up an easy win with the Powerbomb Symphony.

This didn't really need to happen, but there is a section of the AEW audience that always likes to see Wardlow wrestle, so it made sense to give him the shortest match of the night just to get him on TV.

Winner: Wardlow

Grade: C-

Notable Moments and Observations

• It's always impressive when anyone with really long hair can wrestle without having several ripped out by accident. 
• Blue hit a nice superkick right as the commercial break was over. 
• Baker's sling blade did not look great. She did not get enough rotation and landed weirdly. 

The final match of the night saw Rhodes team up with Cassidy and Best Friends to battle a group consisting of The Butcher, The Blade, Seven and Sabian.

Trent Beretta and Sabian started for their teams, but Seven tagged in so he and the other Trent could see which one is better.

It didn't take long for this to devolve into a huge brawl. The Bunny and Penelope Ford stopped OC from hitting a dive and allowed The Butcher to send him out of the ring.

As with any match with this many competitors, it was fast-paced and saw the momentum shift many times. In the end, Rhodes hit a running bulldog to Seven to score the win for his team.

Winners: Best Friends, Rhodes and Cassidy

Grade: C+

Notable Moments and Observations

• Sabian's ring jacket is awesome. Whoever made it put a lot of effort into the design. 
• The Butcher and The Blade have been one of the most reliable duos in AEW for a long time. It would be nice to see a sustained push for them. 
• The way Rampage is structured can be weird sometimes. It felt like way too much of this match happened during the final commercial break. That is one of the downsides of having a one-hour show with four matches. 
• Cassidy pretending The Bunny hit him below the belt, and then Danhausen doing the same thing to Ford, was hilarious. 
• The way Seven sold the bulldog from Rhodes was great.
