Super Bowl 2022: Updated Favorites and Odds Entering Wild Card Weekend

Super Wild Card Weekend is nearly upon us, football fans! After a first-ever 18-week regular season, the playoff field has been set, and a three-day postseason slate is at our doorstep.

Fourteen teams are still alive for a trip to Super Bowl LVI, but that number will drop almost in half by Tuesday morning. With only the No. 1 seed in each conference getting a bye, we'll be down to the usual eight teams for the divisional round.

None of the 14 teams can be counted out—four wild-card teams reached the divisional round in 2020, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl as a No. 5 seed. However, some teams are better built for a title run than others.

How does Vegas view each team's chances in the 2021-22 postseason? Let's take a look.

The Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs are the betting favorites to win Super Bowl LVI, which isn't the least bit surprising. They feature elite quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes and have reached their respective conference title games in each of the past three seasons.

The Buffalo Bills reached the AFC title game in 2020, while the Buccaneers are defending champions. However, the Bucs will be without receivers Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown, which makes them a less enticing pick, even at 8-1.

The Tennessee Titans are a more attractive play at 17-2 odds for a couple of reasons. For one, they own the AFC's first-round bye, meaning they only need to win three games to become Super Bowl Champions. The Titans also have home-field advantage through the AFC playoffs and are expected to have star running back Derrick Henry for the postseason.

"Coach [Mike] Vrabel and the training staff will let me know the workload expected of Derrick Henry each day, and we'll go from there in practices," Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing said, per Jim Wyatt of the team website.

Henry has been out since Week 8 following foot surgery, and Tennessee has adjusted well. The Titans have learned to lean on their sixth-ranked scoring defense and have gone 6-3 without him. With Henry expected to be back, 17-2 feels high for Tennessee.

If you're looking at even more of a dark horse, the Cincinnati Bengals are there at 18-1. Cincinnati has an MVP-caliber quarterback in Joe Burrow, an offensive loaded with skill players and a defense that, while not great (18th overall), is capable of making big plays.

Working against Cincinnati, though, is the team's inexperience and unreliable offensive line.

As for the wild-card teams, the San Francisco 49ers stand out as a solid sleeper at 20-1. San Francisco has been to the Super Bowl recently, has a defense that is playing playoff-caliber ball and a number of dangerous offensive weapons.

San Francisco is one of the few underdogs to like on Wild Card Weekend. Anything could happen, of course, but San Francisco matches up well with an inconsistent Dallas Cowboys defense. The New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals could use their divisional familiarity to pull opening-round upsets over the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams, respectively.

While the Philadelphia Eagles may not beat the Buccaneers, they should have a good chance to cover. Tampa Bay only won by six in the teams' regular-season meeting. That game was in Philadelphia, but the Eagles are a far better team than they were in Week 6.
