Final Predictions for AEW Grand Slam 2022 Match Card Including Moxley vs. Danielson

AEW Grand Slam is again shaping up to be a major event with multiple titles on the line, including the tournament final to decide the new AEW world champion.

Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson will set aside their partnership in Blackpool Combat Club to battle it out for the title, with the looming threat of MJF and his Casino ladder match chip for a future title shot potentially ready to spoil things.

Toni Storm defends the interim AEW Women's World Championship in a Four-Way bout, The Acclaimed have another chance to win the tag team titles, and Orange Cassidy will face PAC for the All-Atlantic Championship. And Claudio Castagnoli's ROH World Championship is in danger as he faces Chris Jericho.

Who will walk out the winners when All Elite Wrestling heads to Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 21?

Let's break down the matches and make our final picks.

Grand Slam Predictions for AEW Rampage

Friday's episode of Rampage is also being classified as Part B of Grand Slam, in a sense. These matches will be taped in advance. Here is a rundown of our predictions:

  • Action Bronson and Hook will beat Jericho Appreciation Society's Matt Menard and Angelo Parker.
  • Sting and Darby Allin will beat House of Black's Buddy Matthews and Brody King in their No Disqualification match.
  • Eddie Kingston will beat Sammy Guevara if the feud is ending; if not, Guevara wins due to help from Tay Melo.
  • "Hangman" Adam Page will win the Golden Ticket Battle Royale for a future AEW World Championship match.
  • Jade Cargill will retain the TBS Championship over Diamante.
  • Rey Fenix will beat Jungle Boy.
  • Ricky Starks will even the odds with a win over Powerhouse Hobbs.
  • Wardlow and Samoa Joe will beat Tony Nese and Josh Woods.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Swerve in Our Glory vs. The Acclaimed

The Acclaimed were clearly the favorites at All Out as the crowd heavily favored them against Swerve in Our Glory. Even in the media scrum to follow, the obvious question was "Why didn't Tony Khan pull an audible and give The Acclaimed the win instead?"

It seems Khan might agree and could have booked this match to compensate, or he had planned to put the belts on The Acclaimed in New York, rather than Chicago.

Even if Swerve in Our Glory were meant to have a longer run, this is a situation where Khan has to listen to the audience and switch champions. If not, it might be one of those times when Anthony Bowens and Max Caster never reach this peak again.

As great as Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland are, they shouldn't leave with the belts.

Prediction: The Acclaimed win.

AEW All-Atlantic Championship: PAC vs. Orange Cassidy

Orange Cassidy and PAC have had their share of battles, mostly revolving around the latter's disapproval of how carefree his rival is all the time.

Cassidy has proved over and over that he can still get the job done when the bell rings, but he tends to fall short in the big contests.

Even when the trios titles were vacated and Best Friends had a perfect opportunity to capture the gold, Khan decided to double-up on PAC and The Lucha Bros as champions instead.

That isn't a great sign that Cassidy will win here, especially since Ethan Page is being set up as a primary challenger.

If Cassidy were to win, he'd likely be a transitional champion, dropping it to Page soon after. Since AEW has gone through many hot-potato title reigns in the past few months, it would be less tiresome to have PAC retain a little longer.

Prediction: PAC wins.

ROH World Championship: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Chris Jericho

The ROH World Championship is one of the few belts Chris Jericho doesn't have on his resume. And, of course, he will want some revenge on Claudio Castagnoli after all the bad blood between Jericho Appreciation Society and Blackpool Combat Club.

While no one would bat an eye at Jericho winning a title, and it would be great for the brand if he defended it, Castagnoli makes more sense to carry that belt.

He's more synonymous with Ring of Honor, is a bigger fish in a smaller pond while holding that title, and hasn't held it long enough.

Whether a clean win or Daniel Garcia getting involved, Castagnoli should hold onto the title.

Prediction: Castagnoli wins.

Four-Way Interim AEW Women's World Championship Match

Toni Storm is in a unique position. If Thunder Rosa had been able to compete at All Out, Storm might have won the AEW Women's World Championship outright.

Now that the Antipodean is the interim champion, though, she has all the responsibility with none of the true clout.

If Storm drops the interim title, it would reflect poorly on her. In particular, if Britt Baker won, it would be curious why she didn't just win the All Out match.

Athena just lost to Jade Cargill, and Serena Deeb failed to win the ROH Women's World Championship. If they weren't in the right spot for those belts, why would they win this now?

This is Storm's match to lose and one of the easiest to predict of the whole two nights.

Prediction: Storm wins.

Vacant AEW World Championship: Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley

Both Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson would make sense to win this, but MJF could steal it from both.

In the past, all Casino ladder match and Casino Battle Royale winners have called their shot in advance for their title matches, but MJF's wording recently implied the rules might have changed to something more akin to WWE's Money in the Bank.

If he's allowed to "cash in" that chip for a title match on the spot, Danielson and Moxley could beat each other senseless, only for the heel to insert himself into the match and win the title.

Since that's just speculation, though, it should be viewed as Moxley or Danielson will likely win.

Danielson gets the victory if Khan is looking for a surprise, but Moxley is the reliable option as he's proved recently.

Also, since Moxley is already feuding with MJF, Mox vs. The Salt of the Earth seems more likely for Full Gear than a clash with Danielson.

Prediction: Moxley wins.
