Becky Lynch Must Be Final WarGames Pick, New Tag Team Will Fail, More WWE Raw Takes

There is one place left on Bianca Belair's WarGames team, and it is most appropriate for Becky Lynch to take that spot.
There is one place left on Bianca Belair's WarGames team, and it is most appropriate for Becky Lynch to take that spot.

WWE Raw had one last chance to build toward Survivor Series WarGames, and the November 21 episode mostly did the job.

Asuka fought Rhea Ripley for the advantage in the women's match at the pay-per-view but lost thanks to Damage CTRL. However, there is a mystery spot left on Bianca Belair's team that can rightfully go to Becky Lynch or Sasha Banks and sway the contest.

Kevin Owens made his first appearance on Raw in months, and it was a welcome change of energy as he laid down a challenge to Roman Reigns, even beyond the men's WarGames match on Saturday night.

Johnny Gargano lost another bout this week, falling to Omos thanks to The Miz. The Rebel Heart remains lost on Raw after being barely used since his return to WWE in August.

Matt Riddle and Elias have finally tried working together. It got them a win, but this team doesn't make sense in the same way as The Original Bro's past alliance with Randy Orton did. They are floundering in a tag team division that is mostly forgotten.

The red brand did what it could to build toward Survivor Series and beyond, though it is likely things won't pick up until the aftermath of the men's and women's WarGames battles.

Becky Lynch Must Be Final Member of Women's WarGames Match

The main speculation heading into Survivor Series has surrounded who will be the last to join Bianca Belair's team in the women's WarGames match.

Many have speculated that it could be a chance for Sasha Banks to return, though it is hard to say whether she will ever return to WWE. Even if she is close to coming back, she should not be the last member in the women's match at TD Garden in Boston on Saturday.

That spot makes far more sense to go to Becky Lynch, an option that was recently reported by Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (h/t Shaun Ranft of Wrestling Inc) as the planned choice.

Lynch has history with The EST of WWE and Damage CTRL, and her inclusion will elevate the babyface side of the WarGames match.

While Banks is certainly the more talked-about Superstar because of how she left, Lynch is the biggest female star WWE has produced and will need to be booked like one going forward.

While the Boston crowd would go wild for the return of The Boss, she and Naomi left together in solidarity. Banks returning with The Glow would undermine the reason they walked out: the credibility of the women's tag team division.

If WWE wants to do something big and tell the best story, Lynch should be in the match while Banks can make her return alongside Naomi when the dust settles, if both are ready.

Kevin Owens Has Been Sorely Missed on Raw

Kevin Owens opening Raw was a welcome change. He has been off television too long and gave weight to his role in the men's WarGames match.

While KO did not play a large role on the show, the red brand does have a different energy with him around.

Sheamus seems to be the next rivalry for Roman Reigns, but Owens feels like a more dangerous threat. Add in his dynamic with Sami Zayn, and The Prizefighter has the best story of anyone to tell with The Tribal Chief soon.

As a representative of Raw, KO is also the only man on the red brand roster who could genuinely bring the WWE Championship "home."

Whether he does that or simply helps bring Zayn back to his senses, Owens' impact in WWE cannot be overstated.

Johnny Gargano Has Been Biggest L of the Triple H Era

Johnny Gargano was the heart and soul of NXT for many years, but many fans were concerned about what would happen if he joined the main roster. When Triple H took over, those fears were calmed.

However, The Rebel Heart has struggled mightily on Raw all the same. In three months, he was wrestled eight matches, losing four and missed every pay-per-view.

His first feud on Monday nights with The Miz has been merely to facilitate the story of The A-Lister and Dexter Lumis while leading to no outstanding performances. Gargano is lost without an established purpose.

This week, he debuted a remixed version of his entrance theme. While it is a less dramatic change than some have had, the music is less impactful, taking one more thing away from Johnny Wrestling that made him special.

The upside is how much Triple H respects and trusts Gargano, and he will rebound eventually in a serious feud that will make his NXT fans proud.

However, nothing about his past three months has felt necessary. At the least, he should have been a catalyst for better weekly matches on Raw. We have not even gotten that.

Matt Riddle-Elias Tag Team Destined to Fail

Few wrestlers have lost as much momentum in recent months as Matt Riddle. He has gone from title contender to tag team hopeful. His only story has been a desperate push to team up with Elias, which is an odd pairing to say the least.

The Original Bro's best run has been with Randy Orton. They were champions, defining the division through their oddball comedy and great in-ring work.

Elias and Riddle lack that same chemistry. This is more of a makeshift alliance than a genuine odd-couple team. Even with the ham-fisted musical connection, there is nothing here to make the two work together.

With good booking, WWE could make the tandem credible, but it will rely on the individual charisma of the performers rather than the combined dynamic. The Living Truth and The Original Bro are talented enough to be entertaining.

The team cannot live up to the legacy of RK-Bro while attempting to recreate it. Thus, it is a waste to put them together rather than using them in the men's singles division.
