7 Way-Too-Early Match Card Predictions for WWE WrestleMania 37 in LA
7 Way-Too-Early Match Card Predictions for WWE WrestleMania 37 in LA

Last week's announcement that WrestleMania 37 will emanate from the brand-new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles immediately sent shock waves throughout the WWE Universe, as it will mark the first time the city will host The Show of Shows since 2005.
That electric installment of WrestleMania saw several up-and-comers cement their star status, with John Cena and Batista winning world titles and Rey Mysterio and Edge scoring career-changing victories. Even Randy Orton looked impressive in defeat against the undefeated Undertaker that night.
WrestleMania 37 should carry a similar theme, especially since it's more important now for WWE to create believable main event-level stars. Between everyone already on the SmackDown and Raw rosters and the aspiring athletes waiting in the wings in NXT, they certainly have the wealth of talent to do so.
That isn't to say they shouldn't utilize their part-timers, either. Cena, Brock Lesnar and Edge can all contribute in key roles on The Grandest Stage of Them All and work with the talent of tomorrow to further establish them as the real deal.
There's always the possibility any of the following fantasy-booked matchups wind up happening well ahead of time (due to the vast amount of programming WWE produces week to week). Ideally, though, they would be best saved for when they'd matter most at 'Mania.
Although the lineup for WrestleMania 36 is far from being set in stone, it's never too early to speculate which marquee matches will make up next year's card.
Drew McIntyre vs. Adam Cole (WWE Championship)
Drew McIntyre is in the middle of the most aggressive push he's received in his WWE career at the moment, and deservedly so. He has spent over a decade scratching and clawing his way to the top of the card, and he was finally rewarded for his efforts in the form of a Royal Rumble victory in January.
Of course, his future as a main event-caliber competitor depends entirely on the outcome of his upcoming clash with Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36. If he can find a way to slay The Beast Incarnate and capture the gold, he'll be a made man.
The hope from there is that he'll be able to maintain momentum and have a successful title reign. Regardless of whether he loses the belt before WrestleMania 37 or not, he should walk into next year's spring spectacle as the WWE champion.
There aren't many men from the SmackDown and Raw rosters who'd make sense to face him for the championship, but NXT's Adam Cole should be considered a strong candidate.
It's all but a guarantee that Cole and the rest of Undisputed Era will be a part of the main roster by the close of 2020. They have accomplished everything imaginable in NXT and have been ready to move to Raw or SmackDown for a while now.
In case fans have forgotten, Cole made his NXT debut at TakeOver: Brooklyn III and targeted McIntyre. They never finished their feud due to the Scot's untimely injury and subsequent call-up to Raw, but WrestleMania 37 would the perfect place for them to settle score after almost four years.
John Cena vs. Velveteen Dream
There's still time for this WrestleMania match to happen in Tampa, Florida, on April 5, but based off how John Cena has been advertised as returning to SmackDown on February 28 and Velveteen Dream recently returned to NXT, the chances of it coming to fruition any time soon are slim to none.
According to WrestleVotes, Cena has creative freedom to face who he wants at WrestleMania this year, making it all the more mind-boggling that Elias has recently been rumored to be his opponent at the event. Granted, they've interacted on The Grandest Stage of Them All for the past two years, but the musician is the wrong person to be elevated by working with him.
Dream, on the other hand, could benefit from facing the 16-time WWE world champion in his debut match for the main roster at WrestleMania. Like Undisputed Era, he's been ready for a Raw or SmackDown promotion for at least a year or two and would thrive under the bright lights at The Show of Shows.
For what it's worth, Cena went on the record two years ago at an Orlando convention to say he would rather have a match with Velveteen Dream over Adam Cole and Ricochet because of how unique of a character he is.
Their styles inside and outside the ring would mesh perfectly, and the bout between them is guaranteed to be great.
Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey (Raw Women's Championship)
Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey was easily one of WWE's hottest feuds in 2019, but it can be argued that it wasn't blown off the right way at WrestleMania 35.
Of course, fans got what they wanted with Lynch pinning Rousey in the main event and reigning supreme as the new Raw and SmackDown women's champion, but the finish of the match felt botched and abrupt.
In other words, The Man did not decisively defeat The Baddest Woman on the Planet as it looked like Rousey's shoulders weren't completely pinned down to the mat.
Rousey returning to reclaim what she believes she shouldn't have lost is a natural story to tell. It would have been the perfect WrestleMania match this year, but it's clear WWE is headed in a different direction with Lynch and NXT upstart Shayna Baszler.
Anything can happen with the Raw women's division between now and WrestleMania 37, though. Lynch could well lose her spot as the red brand's top dog, but if she can remain relevant, a rematch with Rousey will be the way to go.
That is also assuming the former UFC star will be back by late 2020/early 2021, as there's no guarantees she returns to wrestling at all. If she does, Rousey vs. Lynch one-on-one for the first time is a money match waiting to happen.
Brock Lesnar vs. Matt Riddle
Anyone familiar with Matt Riddle's obsession with wanting to retire Brock Lesnar from the ring can confirm this a WrestleMania match that practically books itself.
Riddle's reputation preceded him long before he signed with WWE in 2018. He has expressed interest in wanting to work with The Beast Incarnate for years, and upon joining NXT, he got one step close to making that matchup a reality.
According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Riddle hasn't done the greatest job endearing himself to Lesnar and others recently. And after being confronted by Goldberg at SummerSlam, he was apparently told by The Beast Incarnate backstage at the Royal Rumble they will never compete against each other, per Alex McCarthy of TalkSport.
Of course, this is WWE and anything could happen, especially if the company can make money off of it.
The only way this 'Mania matchup happens is if Riddle is called up to Raw within the next year and WWE plays up their real-life tension, which is a strong possibility. If the company can establish him as a threat to Lesnar, then there's a real shot Riddle gets his wish on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Perhaps it would end in a decisive squash of Riddle, but at least a bout between them (no matter how brief) would promise to be a spectacle.
Seth Rollins vs. Edge
Seth Rollins' heel run from 2014 to 2015 drew a lot of similarities to Edge's from a decade earlier. Winning the Money in the Bank ladder match put both men on the map and led them to career-defining cash-ins, not to mention how brilliant they both were as bad guys.
The two crossed paths for the first time on the final Raw of 2014 when Rollins threatened Edge's life so John Cena could reinstate The Authority. The Rated-R Superstar was never able to give The Architect his comeuppance due to his retirement, but there's nothing stopping this feud from happening now he's back.
Their interaction in this year's Royal Rumble match (where Edge returned to the ring) was fun albeit brief. Rollins would have been an excellent first foe for the veteran heading into WrestleMania 36, but WWE ultimately went with Randy Orton in that role instead.
If Edge and Rollins remain on Raw for the rest of the year, it's possible they wage war well before The Showcase of the Immortals. On paper, though, it's a WrestleMania-worthy match and should be saved for April 2021.
Rollins has been building real momentum as a heel recently and Edge would be a fantastic foil for him, especially if they play off their history from five years ago.
There aren't many top talents left in WWE that Rollins hasn't wrestled, but Edge leads the list of best potential opponents for him at WrestleMania 37.
Aleister Black vs. 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt
It's amazing to think how much momentum Aleister Black had upon his arrival on the Raw roster a year ago, all of which WWE subsequently squandered by saddling him in a tag team with Ricochet and then booking him to do nothing on SmackDown.
The Dutch Destroyer didn't bounce back from his less-than-stellar first stint with the blue brand until October when he was drafted to Raw and stacked up several impressive victories. His recent string of matches with Murphy put him on the map and forced fans to take notice of how talented he is.
The same can be said for Bray Wyatt, who floundered for years before finally finding his footing as The Fiend last April. Within months, he captured the Universal Championship and has been dominating both brands ever since.
Their equally ominous personas make this the ultimate dream match by modern WWE standards.
They're currently separated by the brand split, but that will likely change after WrestleMania if one of them switches shows. Regardless of what brand hosts this rivalry, it's bound to be a blockbuster.
Very few men have proved to be a legitimate threat to The Fiend, but Black could be an interesting opponent due to the way he's been built up by WWE.
The entrances alone would make this an epic occasion.
Roman Reigns vs. Keith Lee for the Universal Championship
All of Keith Lee's positive buzz right now can be traced back to his spectacular showing at Survivor Series where he was last man standing for Team NXT against SmackDown's Roman Reigns.
Limitless earned the respect of everyone in the audience that night and also Reigns himself, who apparently told him afterward he wanted to work with him one-on-one down the road.
It's safe to say The Big Dog isn't the only one who badly wants this match to happen, and where better than at WrestleMania?
Although Lee is riding high as the NXT North American champion, few fans would have thought twice about him moving to the main roster following Survivor Series in November. WWE should have struck while the iron was hot and immediately pushed him to the top of SmackDown in Brock Lesnar-esque fashion.
Nonetheless, plenty of time remains for him to be brought to the blue brand and pick up where he left off with Reigns. The Big Dog currently lacks credible competition (which would explain why he's been feuding with King Corbin for months) and Lee would fill that void nicely.
That said, the company would be foolish to have them go anywhere near each other before WrestleMania 37. Reigns is bound to leave WrestleMania 36 as the new universal champion, and of all the possible opponents for him at next year's marquee event, Lee stands out as the most intriguing by a long shot.
Reigns better start preparing to bask in Lee's glory come WrestleMania in Los Angeles.
