Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 13: Lineup Advice, Stars to Exploit and Sleeper Options

There are only two more weeks in which there will be NFL teams on byes. After Weeks 13 and 14, all 32 sides will be in action for the final four weeks of the regular season.

The next two weeks are also the final two of the regular season in most fantasy football leagues this year. With the NFL expanding to an 18-week schedule for 2021, the majority of leagues are now holding their playoffs from Weeks 15-17.

Heading into the penultimate week of the fantasy regular season, here's some early start/sit advice to help with lineup decisions for the Week 13 slate.

Start 'Em: Jamaal Williams, RB, Detroit Lions

D'Andre Swift suffered a shoulder injury in the Lions' Thanksgiving Day loss to the Chicago Bears, which means he could be out of action in Week 13. If that's the case, then Jamaal Williams will be a must-start running back for fantasy lineups.

After Swift's early departure in Week 12, Williams had 15 carries for 65 yards and five catches for 18 yards. When healthy, the 26-year-old has been a decent flex option while sharing backfield duties with his teammate. So if Swift is out, Williams' value will be even higher.

The BYU product scored two touchdowns over the first three weeks of the season, but he hasn't gotten into the end zone since. That could change in Week 13, as the Minnesota Vikings struggle to stop the run, having allowed the third most rushing yards per game in the NFL this year (134.4).

Expect a solid showing from Williams in Week 13 either way, but he could end up having his biggest performance of the season if Swift sits out.

Sit 'Em: Josh Jacobs, RB, Las Vegas Raiders

Josh Jacobs has been an inconsistent fantasy performer this season, and he hasn't had any huge games on the ground. He's scored only one touchdown over the Raiders' past four games, and his 87 rushing yards in their Week 12 win over the Dallas Cowboys was a season high.

When Las Vegas doesn't have favorable matchups for its running game, the 23-year-old is better off being left on the fantasy bench. And that will likely be the case in Week 13, when the Raiders host Washington, which is allowing the fourth fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL this season (92.6).

Las Vegas is more likely to have success through the air against Washington, which could mean an increased workload for Kenyan Drake out of the backfield. So, if you have enough RBs to fill out your fantasy lineup without Jacobs, that's what you should do this week.

Start 'Em: Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers

After a slow start to the season, Brandon Aiyuk is starting to live up to expectations. He's had at least 85 receiving yards in three of the 49ers' past four games, and he's scored a pair of touchdowns over that span.

Although the 23-year-old didn't do much when San Francisco played the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4 (one reception for 15 yards), he's likely to have a better showing when the NFC West rivals face off again in Week 13. He's also been targeted at least six times in four of his past five games, so he should keep getting opportunities.

The Seahawks are allowing the second most passing yards per game in the NFL (274.1). Expect the 49ers to have plenty of success airing it out, with Aiyuk likely to play a key role in their passing attack again this week.

Sit 'Em: Jakobi Meyers, WR, New England Patriots

Jakobi Meyers finally scored his first NFL touchdown in Week 10. And while he hasn't gotten back in the end zone either of the past two weeks, he's remained an integral part of the Patriots' passing attack and had a season-high 98 yards in their Week 12 win over the Tennessee Titans.

However, New England may have some trouble moving the ball through the air in Week 13. That's because it has a challenging road matchup against the Buffalo Bills, which are allowing the second fewest passing yards per game in the NFL this season (178.5).

Meyers should have strong performances down the stretch, and he's likely be worthy of flex consideration in later weeks. But in Week 13, it's best to leave him on the bench, as he's still rarely scoring touchdowns and he shouldn't have too many yards in Buffalo.
