Updated 2022 NFL Draft Order After Sunday's Week 4 Results

After taking Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars may be trending toward another high draft selection in 2022. Because even though the Clemson product is starting to show some progress in his rookie campaign, the Jags have some work to do.

We're only four weeks through the 2021 NFL season, so there's plenty of time for struggling teams to get on track, including Jacksonville. But it can often be difficult to rebound from a season-opening losing streak without letting things spiral out of control, which has happened to plenty of teams over the years.

The Jaguars are off to an 0-4 start under first-year head coach Urban Meyer. And if they don't start winning games soon, they could be heading toward their fourth straight year with a top-10 draft pick.

Through the majority of Week 4 and ahead of Monday night's matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers, here's how the 2022 NFL draft order would currently shake out.

2022 NFL 1st-Round Draft Order

1. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4)

15. New Orleans Saints (2-2)

16. New York Giants (via 2-2 Chicago Bears)

17. Kansas City Chiefs (2-2)

18. Los Angeles Chargers (2-1)

19. Tennessee Titans (2-2)

20. Washington Football Team (2-2)

21. Buffalo Bills (3-1)

Jags, Lions Now Only Teams Without a Win

And now there are two. Heading into Week 4, there were five teams that had yet to win a game this season. However, the Colts, Giants and Jets all claimed their first victories of the year on Sunday, leaving only the Jaguars and Lions with zeros in the win column.

Jacksonville may be getting close to breaking through, as it had a 14-point halftime lead against Cincinnati on Thursday night before going on to lose 24-21 on a field goal as time expired. It was the first time this season the Jaguars didn't lose by 10 or more points.

Detroit fell to 0-4 with a 24-14 road loss to Chicago on Sunday. The game wasn't as competitive as the score may indicate, as the Lions trailed by 21 points early in the third quarter and only got within 10 with 11 minutes, 17 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

In Week 5, the Jaguars will host the Titans and the Lions will go on the road to take on the Vikings. Both are division matchups, so anything can happen. But it's also very possible both Jacksonville and Detroit will still be winless at this time next week.

Can Jets Continue to Show Positives?

Through three weeks, many people may have been predicting the Jets would finish the 2021 season with the worst record in the NFL. That's still a possibility, but they at least won't have a winless record. On Sunday, New York came away with a 27-24 overtime home win against the Tennessee Titans.

Now, the Jets are among 10 one-win teams in the NFL. They would be drafting early if the season ended today, but there's also plenty of time for them to build some momentum off their first victory and perhaps finish with a much better record than the 2-14 mark they had in 2020.

New York has a winnable game in Week 5, when they take on the 1-3 Falcons in London. After that, it has a bye week before heading to New England in Week 7. The Patriots are also 1-3, but their win was a 25-6 road victory over the Jets in Week 2.

Looking further ahead, New York has more games it could win, such as against Houston (Week 12) and Jacksonville (Week 16). Still, the Jets will need to improve in plenty of areas to avoid having another high draft pick in 2022, and one win isn't enough of a sign that will happen.

Eagles Poised for at Least 1 High Draft Pick

The Eagles, Colts and Dolphins are all 1-3, and they could all be on their way to a tough season, but Indianapolis and Miami wouldn't get to reap high draft capital as a reward due to Philadelphia owning each of their first-round picks.

If the season ended today, the Eagles would have three of the first nine picks in the 2022 draft, which would greatly help them as they try to get back to championship contention. Even if Philly gets things on track and has a strong 2021 season, it may still have a top pick if Indianapolis and/or Miami continues to struggle.

However, none of the three have been doing well so far. The Eagles have lost three straight games since winning their opener against the Falcons. The Dolphins have also dropped three in a row since their victory over the Patriots. And the Colts lost their first three games before finally breaking through for a win against the Dolphins on Sunday.

It wouldn't be a complete surprise if Philadelphia, Miami and Indianapolis all finish with lackluster records in 2021, based on how each has looked to begin the year. And if that's the case, you can bet the Eagles will be relatively pleased with how things turned out.
