AEW Dynamite Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from June 4

On the heels of an explosive Double or Nothing pay-per-view, AEW Dynamite hit the TNT airwaves Friday night with a show headlined by a tag team title defense by The Young Bucks, a championship celebration for Dr. Britt Baker DMD, and the latest opportunity for Jungle Boy to build momentum ahead of his world title match with Kenny Omega.

What went down with all the fallout from last Sunday's pay-per-view and who continued to build momentum?

As AEW tag team champions The Young Bucks made their way to the ring for their match against Death Triangle's Penta El Zero Miedo and PAC, "Elite Hunter" Frankie Kazarian attacked Michael Nakazawa, making him the latest target in his war with the faction responsible for the demise of SCU.

Seemingly unfazed, Matt and Nick Jackson controlled the pace of the match, working over PAC and Penta at different points in the bout. The challengers mounted a comeback, including a destroyer by Penta to Nick. All four men battled on the ring apron, Penta delivering a package piledriver to Matt while Nick delivered a German suplex to PAC.

Back in the ring, Nick tried to unmask Penta, who revealed a second mask underneath. The luchador delivered Fear Factor and PAC added the Black Arrow, but Matt broke up the count. A distraction by Brandon Cutler led to a rollup on PAC and a victory for the Bucks.

Analysis

Absolutely no one should be surprised that the Bucks and Death Triangle managed to deliver a B+ match to kick off Dynamite with little in the way of build or hype. Four of the best workers in the world, they set the bar extremely high for the rest of the night's show.

With that said, the Bucks' antics are starting to wear thin, and if management doesn't consider switching the titles soon, it will miss an opportunity to do so while the new champs could benefit from Matt and Nick's peak heat.

Eddie Kingston making the save at the end of the match suggests his war with The Elite is not over. Given his popularity with the AEW faithful, that is a good call. 

Tony Schiavone introduced the newest analyst for AEW Rampage, Mark Henry. After teasing that he has much more left in the tank, Vickie Guerrero interrupted The World's Strongest Man and revealed her latest signee: Andrade El Idolo.

The third-generation star made his way to the ring and said he's not just the new face of Latinos, he's the new face of All Elite Wrestling. The dapper new competitor exited to a favorable response from the AEW faithful.

Analysis

Business just picked up.

Andrade is among the most underutilized and mismanaged stars in recent WWE history; a performer whose in-ring performance should have earned him so many more opportunities than he actually had. A talent with a pedigree matched by few, he had all of the tools to be a top-level star except mic skills.

So what does he do on his first night with AEW? He showed all of the charisma you would want from a potential marquee star in a short, sweet promo that left fans chanting his name.

We are about to find out WWE's loss is very much AEW's gain.

The rivalry between The Nightmare Family and The Factory continued Friday night as Cody Rhodes teamed with "Big Shotty" Lee Johnson to battle QT Marshall and Anthony Ogogo, just five nights after defeating the Olympic bronze medalist boxer at Double or Nothing. 

The heels isolated Johnson and beat him down throughout the commercial until a hot tag to Rhodes sparked the babyface comeback. 

The action broke down, Aaron Solow provided a distraction, and Ogogo delivered a knockout blow to Rhodes that allowed Marshall to score the win.

Analysis

The feud was already ice-cold entering Friday's show, helped none whatsoever by Rhodes' win over Ogogo at Double or Nothing. Yet that did not stop AEW from presenting the latest chapter of the feud, a Marshall win that should be chalked up to Ogogo's KO ability.

The crowd was red-hot for Rhodes, highlighting the bond he has with the audience, but, more importantly, enhancing the sentiment that he really should be involved in something more meaningful and productive than what still feels like a C-level program.

The Inner Circle arrived in Daily's Place riding a wave of momentum and emotion following their victory over The Pinnacle in Stadium Stampede.

While Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara were celebratory and thankful for the fans, Ortiz said the issues between the two factions are not resolved. Jake Hager challenged Wardlow to an MMA cage fight on next week's show. Jericho admitted he wants a conclusion to his feud with MJF.

"The Inner Circle never forgives, and The Inner Circle sure as hell never effing forgets!" Jericho exclaimed to end the promo.

Analysis

It was great to see each member of the Inner Circle get some mic time, and while Jericho was great, this felt like a step backward after Stadium Stampede.

Blood and Guts felt like the opportune time to end the feud between the two factions. Stadium Stampede sure as hell felt like the conclusion of the feud. 

As it turns out, neither of the two brutal, violent wars were enough. Instead, we're going to get more out of the program. Why? Perhaps because Tony Khan and Co. don't know where to go next with the groups? Maybe because the allure of Jericho vs. MJF, which didn't necessarily set the world on fire the first time the two did battle, is too strong?

Whatever the case, this felt like an attempt to milk another couple of weeks out of a high-stakes program that has already seen two straight false finishes at this point.

Moments after AEW world champion Kenny Omega mocked him and the idea of losing the title to him, Jungle Boy entered Daily's Place for a tag team match with Christian Cage against Hardy Family Office's Private Party.

The babyfaces outwrestled and outclassed the heels early, but a distraction by Matt Hardy of referee Aubrey Edwards allowed the heels to take down Cage and seize control of the bout. Captain Charisma made the hot tag to Jungle Boy, who exploded into the match.

Late in the match, Private Party tried for Gin and Juice, but Cage wiped Isiah Kassidy out with a spear and Jungle Boy forced Marq Quen to tap out in the Snare Trap. The babyfaces stood tall to the delight of the fans. As Cage left the ring, though, Hardy delivered a Twist of Fate to him on the entrance ramp.

Jungle Boy and Cage defeated Private Party

Analysis

The match was standard tag team fare until Jungle Boy's hot tag and the closing moments. Private Party shined but never felt like they had a chance in hell of winning, even when Hardy interfered. That hurt the overall quality of the bout.

Cage was great as the babyface-in-peril, but Jungle Boy was greatest as the explosive babyface late in the match. Young Jack Perry continues to look every bit the future main event competitor that the win at Double or Nothing suggests he is. Will he beat Kenny Omega for the AEW world title? Absolutely not, but he will continue to assert himself as one of the faces of AEW's bright future.

In a pre-taped segment, Team Taz addressed Hangman Page's win over Brian Cage, the leader of the black and orange daring the anxious millennial cowboy to find a partner and face Cage and Powerhouse Hobbs.

Out in the ring, Tony Schiavone introduced Sting and Darby Allin. The former thanked the fans for supporting him in his first match in six years. Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page appeared and challenged Allin to a tag team match, with any partner but Sting.

After the commercial, new AEW women's champion Dr. Britt Baker DMD made her way to the ring with Rebel. She cut a promo, claiming no one was on her side and that she achieved all of her success alone. Nyla Rose ruined the segment, teasing The Native Beast as the first challenger to the good doctor's title.

Analysis

It is uncharacteristic for AEW to produce two segments as similar as the tag team challenges. They were essentially the segment, with the exception being Sky and Page insisting Allin could not choose Sting as his partner for their rematch.

The repetition felt cheap and a little lazy.

Add to that a championship celebration that never really hit its mark and you have a part of the show that was considerably disappointing.

The Bunny used a pair of brass knuckles to lay out Big Swole and pick up the victory Monday on AEW Dark, and Friday night, the underutilized competitor battled Red Velvet in singles action.

The Canadian-born heel dominated the action throughout the commercial break, but Velvet fought back into the match, leveled her with a spinning kick to the face and earned the pinfall victory.

Analysis

Red Velvet continues to have breakout potential, and while beating The Bunny does not carry quite as much credibility as going toe-to-toe with Jade Cargill or teaming with Cody Rhodes, it does give her a solid victory that she can build on.

The match itself was perfectly acceptable, if not a bit formulaic, wrestling that saw Velvet perfectly play the babyface on the defensive. When it was time to fire up, she did.

Is The Bunny underutilized? Absolutely, especially given the experience she has dating back to her time on the independents and in Impact Wrestling. She has a wealth of knowledge to impart on the young roster of talented female competitors, but she hasn't had the opportunity to share that.

Bloodied and battered by his opponent, The Factory's Nick Comoroto took the fight to Dustin Rhodes from the onset of the Bullrope Match that headlined Friday's match. Overwhelmed early, the young stars struggled to gain the upper hand. That ended heading into the final break of the night as the massive heel turned the tide of the main event in his favor.

Dustin rocked Comoroto with the cowbell to the face but paid for it almost immediately as his ferocious opponent drove him through a table. Colton Gunn arrived at ringside to fend off Aaron Solow, while Comoroto kicked out of Final Reckoning on the cowbell at one.

Late, Rhodes sent his opponent into an exposed turnbuckle, delivered a bulldog from the top rope, and used the ropes to help tie Comoroto up for the pinfall victory.

Analysis

When Jim Ross breaks out the phrase "bowling shoe-ugly," it's usually an indication that the match in question was less than stellar. The play-by-play for Dynamite did just that for this week's main event, but not before putting over the toughness of the competitors involved.

Rhodes did his best to work with a still-green Comoroto, who might not have been ready for such a high-profile match against a grizzled veteran like Rhodes. Still, he worked reasonably well with the babyface, and the result was a physical match to close out this week's show.

Unfortunately, it appears as though the feud between The Nightmare Family and The Factory will remain, no matter how disinteresting it has become.
