AEW Dynamite Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from February 19

All Elite Wrestling is preparing for its next event in Chicago on February 29, but before that happens, Dynamite made its first appearance in Atlanta.

Cody Rhodes' home city was also the home of the company's first steel cage match between The American Nightmare and Wardlow.

This week also featured The Lucha Bros taking on "Hangman" Adam Page and Kenny Omega for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

To determine the next challengers for the tag titles at Revolution, AEW scheduled a tag team Battle Royal with the entire division.

Let's take a look at what happened on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite.

The show opened with all of the tag teams in the division already inside the ring. As the brawl ensued, the announcers explained that in order for a team to be eliminated, both members had to be tossed out.

Jack Evans was the first man to be eliminated when he dove on everyone from the top rope. Everyone caught him and threw him out together.

The Dark Order had a large presence in and out of the ring, but it was Santana and Ortiz who played dirty by waiting several minutes before getting involved so that they were fresher than everyone else.

It wasn't always easy to follow the eliminations, but it got better as more teams were sent packing.

Santana and Ortiz were the last team with both members still in the ring as it got down to the final four. It came down to Matt Jackson against them, with Sammy Guevara providing some assistance ringside.

Despite being outnumbered, the lone Young Buck managed to score the win for his team and earn a title shot.

Grade: B+

Analysis

AEW loves big spots in multi-man matches and we saw plenty of them within the first few minutes. The action was furious, and the camera work caught just about every moment that was meant to stand out.

Luchasaurus might have been the most over Superstar in this entire match. The crowd was into everything he did, and the entire arena chanted his name more than once.

Just about every team had a couple of moments to shine and that is the best every duo outside of the winners can hope for in this situation.

This was easily the best Battle Royal AEW has done. The action was good, the big spots were performed well and the announcers did a good job keeping everything straight.

Shanna made her return to AEW for the second match of the night against Kris Statlander, and Dr. Britt Baker joined the commentary team to check out her competition.

These wrestlers both work a hard-hitting style. They used a lot of strikes and various slams to inflict most of the punishment in this bout.

There was no clear leader most of the time. They traded control back and forth, and the crowd found it hard to cheer for one woman over the other.

Statlander scored the win with her signature modified piledriver.

Grade: B+

Analysis

This was a great match, and the crowd was into it from start to finish. Statlander was especially good here, but Shanna also made an impression with her performance.

Baker continues to shine in her role as a heel. She and the announcers did an excellent job of keeping their conversation from overshadowing the action in the ring.

Statlander is over with the AEW crowd, and the company was wise to give her the win here. She and Baker will likely fight for the next title shot in the near future, possibly at Revolution.

AEW's resident alien had a confrontation with Nyla Rose after the match, with Big Swole eventually joining them. This immediately elevated Swole, and we will probably see her enter the title picture soon.

Jon Moxley, still sporting an eye patch, came through the crowd for his match against a man many would like to see signed to an AEW contract, Jeff Cobb.

Cobb shares a lot in common with Rhyno in both look and wrestling style. He started off strong with a belly-to-belly suplex and maintained control for the next few minutes.

Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle watched from the crowd and immediately pounced on Moxley as soon as he was declared the winner of the match. Dustin Rhodes and Darby Allin made the save.

Grade: B

Analysis

Cobb is known on the indie scene, but he is getting his first shot at national exposure and making the most of the opportunity.

He and Moxley worked well together. Both use a stiff style, and it helped having a hardcore stipulation that allowed them to focus on punishing each other without rules.

Having Taz on commentary was a nice touch. The Human Suplex Machine likely sees a lot of himself in Cobb and offered some insight into how his style works.

Once again, the crowd was hot and invested in every moment. The post-match attack could be seen coming a mile away, but it still made sense from a storyline standpoint. The return of Allin was met with a huge pop, but there was a slight production hiccup with his entrance.

Adam Page is continuing down a dark path that will eventually lead to a heel turn, and AEW made sure to remind us about his recent issues working with The Elite before this match began.

Rey Fenix and the Cowboy started for their teams and traded a series of counters until Page hit a big boot to the face. Omega and Page seemed to be on the same wavelength with a successful double-team combo.

After the commercial break, The Lucha Bros began directing traffic. They hit some incredible high spots, and both Omega and Page sold them perfectly.

This time, Hangman and The Cleaner didn't have any communication issues, and they managed to score the win with a combination of both of their finishers.

Grade: A

Analysis

This was exactly the kind of match you would expect from these four men. They are considered some of the best wrestlers in AEW, and they lived up to the hype.

The sequence with all four that involved people throwing each other into different moves was amazing and launched the crowd into a "This is awesome" chant.

Page looking almost sad that they won was a good detail to add. The Young Bucks came out to congratulate their future opponents, but Hangman wanted a beer more than anything and took one from a fan.

The main event of the evening saw Cody take on Wardlow in a steel cage match. This was the latter's first major match, and AEW gave him a big stage to test his skills.

Arn Anderson and Brandi Rhodes accompanied The American Nightmare, while MJF was by his bodyguard's side for the night.

Cody was busted open before the break, and his head was covered in blood by the time we returned. He continued to perform and even turned the tide in his favor with a flurry of offense.

MJF tried to give Wardlow his ring to use as a weapon, but Cody took it from him while Anderson threw MJF into the crowd. The American Nightmare hit Cross Rhodes but only got a near fall. He climbed to the top of the cage for a moonsault to finally get the win.

Grade: B

Analysis

The design of the cage was like a cross between WWE's usual design and its Hell in a Cell. It had high walls and big supports on each corner.

The cage didn't come into play a lot, but when it did, Cody and Wardlow made it matter. This was a solid main event and a good showing for Wardlow after spending a few months working solely as an enforcer.

The match was pretty good, but the finish was the best part. Cody can fly, but he is known more for his technical ability. It was nice to see him take a risk and have it pay off. Wardlow caught him perfectly.
