Fantasy Football Week 14 Rankings: Top Pickups After Latest Injuries

Bills RB James Cook
Bills RB James Cook

Week 14 got off to an intriguing start. The Los Angeles Rams and recently added quarterback Baker Mayfield earned an improbable comeback victory. Mayfield, who arrived on Tuesday, led a 98-yard drive with less than two minutes remaining and no timeouts to get the win.

Many fantasy managers will hope for their own mid-week pickups to help deliver a victory in Week 14. With six teams on bye and numerous injuries of note, depth players and waiver-wire targets will be critical.

Here, we'll examine the top plays at each key fantasy position following Friday's injury reports. We'll also delve into the best wire targets likely to still be available.

All picks and rankings are based on point-per-reception (PPR) scoring.

Quarterback

Lions QB Jared Goff
Lions QB Jared Goff

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

2. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

3. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

4. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

5. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

6. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

7. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

8. Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

9. Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings

10. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

Overview

The biggest injury news at quarterback involves the status of Baltimore Ravens signal-caller Lamar Jackson. The 25-year-old is dealing with a knee injury and is officially doubtful to play. However, managers can pretty much expect Jackson to sit out.

"It looks like it's going to be Tyler [Huntley] on Sunday, yes," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, per Ryan Mink of the team's official website.

Geno Smith is questionable for the Seattle Seahawks but is expected to play. Trevor Lawrence is questionable for the Jacksonville Jaguars

Managers looking for a fill-in should see if Jared Goff is available. The Detroit Lions quarterback is rostered in 65 percent of Yahoo leagues but only 40 percent of ESPN leagues.

Goff also has an enticing matchup against a Minnesota Vikings team that has allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

Managers in larger leagues may want to peek in on Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill. While Tannehill hasn't been as prolific as Goff—Goff has two touchdowns in each of his last two games, while Tannehill has one total during that span—he does have a favorable matchup.

The Jaguars have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing QBs. Tannehill is rostered in only 31 percent of Yahoo leagues and 13 percent of ESPN leagues.

Running Back

Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon
Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon

2. Saquon Barkley, New York Giants

3. Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers

4. Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

5. Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans

6. Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots

7. Tony Pollard, Dallas Cowboys

8. Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings

9. Travis Etienne Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars

10. Dameon Pierce, Houston Texans

11. Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs

12. Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles

13. Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys

14. Jeff Wilson Jr., Miami Dolphins

15. Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

16. Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers

17. D'Andre Swift, Detroit Lions

18. Samaje Perine, Cincinnati Bengals

19. Devin Singletary, Buffalo Bills

20. D'Onta Foreman, Carolina Panthers

Overview

New England Patriots running back Damien Harris did not participate in practice this week but does not have an official designation yet for Monday night's game versus the Arizona Cardinals. His status will be one to monitor heading into Sunday.

Seahawks running backs Kenneth Walker III and DeeJay Dallas are both listed as questionable. So are Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette and New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley.

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon was a full participant in practice after spending the last two weeks in the concussion protocol.

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook is the top back to target after his breakout performance in Week 13. However, the rookie has been heavily claimed already this week and is rostered in 57 percent of Yahoo leagues and 46 percent of ESPN leagues.

Managers who missed the boat on Cook should take a look at Kansas City Chiefs back Jerick McKinnon.

Against the Bengals last week, McKinnon caught two passes for nine yards and a touchdown while chipping in with 51 rushing yards.

McKinnon is also rostered in 58 percent of Yahoo leagues but only 33 percent of ESPN leagues.

Wide Receiver

Jets WR Corey Davis
Jets WR Corey Davis

1. Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

2. Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins

3. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions

4. Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals

5. A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles

6. Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills

7. CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys

8. Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals

9. Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins

10. Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

11. DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks

12. Garrett Wilson, New York Jets

13. Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers

14. Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers

15. Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks

16. Christian Kirk, Jacksonville Jaguars

17. Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

18. DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles

19. Jakobi Meyers, New England Patriots

20. Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns

Overview

Cleveland Browns wideout Amari Cooper is listed as questionable, as is Lions wideout Kalif Raymond. Nico Collins and Brandin Cooks are both out for the Houston Texans this week.

Rookie Treylon Burks has been ruled out for the Titans, while the Denver Broncos will be without Courtland Sutton.

DK Metcalf is questionable for Seattle.

Perhaps the biggest development at receiver, though, is the impending return of Los Angeles Chargers star Mike Williams. The 28-year-old has played just one game (Week 11) since L.A.'s Week 8 bye but is expected to face the Miami Dolphins this week.

New York Jets wideout Corey Davis is probably the safest wire target this week. He's rostered in only 19 percent of Yahoo leagues and 17 percent of ESPN leagues. He's also coming off of a five-catch, 85-yard outing.

Lions receiver Jameson Williams is a little more of a gamble. He didn't have a catch in his NFL debut last week, but he does have a good matchup against the Vikings.

Minnesota has allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing receivers in 2022. Williams is rostered in 37 percent of Yahoo leagues and 28 percent of ESPN leagues.

Tight End

Patriots TE Hunter Henry
Patriots TE Hunter Henry

1. Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs

2. T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings

3. Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens

4. Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

5. Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers

6. Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys

7. George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers

8. Greg Dulcich, Denver Broncos

9. Dawson Knox, Buffalo Bills

10. Tyler Conklin, New York Jets

Overview

Browns tight end David Njoku was a limited participant in practice after missing Week 13 with a knee injury. Njoku should play against Cincinnati, but Bengals tight end Hayden Hurst has been ruled out.

Seahawks tight end Will Dissly is questionable with a calf injury.

Jaguars tight end Evan Engram remains a weekly waiver target, and he's coming off of a solid five-catch, 30-yard, one-touchdown performance against Detroit. He'll now face a Titans defense that has surrendered an average of 9.8 fantasy points to opposing TEs

Engram is rostered in 54 percent of Yahoo leagues and 44 percent of ESPN leagues.

Managers in deeper leagues should target Patriots tight end Hunter Henry. He's rostered in only 49 percent of Yahoo leagues and 29 percent of ESPN leagues. He also has a spicy matchup with the Cardinals.

No team has allowed more fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season than Arizona.
