NCAA Football Rankings 2022: Predicting Movers in Week 14 After Latest Results

After a wild weekend of college football, the AP Top 25 is headed for some dramatic changes.
While the marquee result was Michigan's win over Ohio State, that contest won't have a massive impact on the rankings. Michigan will likely jump from No. 3 to No. 2 behind Georgia, while Ohio State will dip slightly but remain in the Top 10—perhaps even the Top Five.
However, both Oregon State and South Carolina are ready for a significant rise after dramatic rivalry wins.
Ahead are three programs that should anticipate a considerable change in the AP Top 25.
Moving Up: Oregon State Beavers

If you stopped watching in the third quarter, you missed a lot.
Oregon, which led 14-10 at halftime, extended the lead to 21 points on a field goal with 4:46 remaining in the third frame. The ninth-ranked Ducks appeared headed for a 13th win in the last 15 meetings with Oregon State.
Instead, the hosts put together a remarkable comeback to send Oregon home unhappy.
Oregon State scored a touchdown, held Oregon to a field goal and ripped off a 21-point game-winning surge. Isaiah Newell rushed for two fourth-quarter touchdowns—including the go-ahead six-yard score—and the Beavers held on 4th-and-goal to seal a 38-34 victory.
In all likelihood, Oregon State will ascend from 21st in the country to the 15-18 range—and ahead of rival Oregon for the first time all season.
Moving Down: North Carolina Tar Heels

Since clinching the Coastal Division in the ACC, the North Carolina Tar Heels have only fallen in the polls.
North Carolina ripped off a 9-1 start behind the emergence of quarterback Drake Maye. He propelled the Tar Heels to a series of close victories, including six straight wins in conference play.
But then, Georgia Tech stunned UNC last weekend. And on Black Friday, rival North Carolina State—led by fourth-string quarterback Ben Finley—put another dent in what has been a breakout year for the Heels.
Finley threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns, leading NC State to a surprising 30-27 victory in double overtime. Maye managed just 233 yards on 49 passes, averaging a season-worst 4.8 yards per attempt. North Carolina gained a season-low 351 yards, as well.
Although the Heels may stick in the Top 25, they'll be flirting with the edge of the poll entering the ACC Championship Game against Clemson.
Moving Up: South Carolina Gamecocks

Once is nice. Twice is better.
For the second straight week, South Carolina pulled off a remarkable upset. This time, the Gamecocks did it on the road.
South Carolina, which demolished then-No. 5 Tennessee 63-38 last Saturday, had never before beaten AP Top 10 opponents in consecutive weeks. The streak ended with the 31-30 triumph over Clemson.
Trailing 30-28 early in the fourth quarter, South Carolina kicker Mitch Jeter buried a 35-yard attempt. While the field goal held up as the winning score, two late turnovers haunted Clemson. DJ Uiagalelei threw an interception with about seven minutes to play, and Antonio Williams fumbled on a punt return near the two-minute mark.
Not only did the Gamecocks snap a seven-game skid in the series, they halted Clemson's home winning streak at 40 games—which was the longest active streak in the nation.
The program has appeared in the AP Top 25 just twice since 2014, but Sunday's release is expected to include South Carolina.
Moving Down: LSU Tigers

In a season full of strange games, Texas A&M provided a remarkable, head-shaking result.
Heading into last weekend, the Aggies had dropped six straight outings. They stumbled past UMass in an ugly, rain-soaked win before welcoming fifth-ranked LSU to College Station.
Why should Texas A&M have any shot? Because, well, college football doesn't make sense sometimes. Shockingly, the Aggies presumably shattered LSU's hopes of reaching the College Football Playoff even if the Tigers defeat Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.
Devon Achane scurried for 215 yards and two touchdowns, leading A&M to an impressive 38-23 win. Freshman quarterback Conner Weigman also tossed two scores.
LSU will probably tumble into the teens in Sunday's poll.
