Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth had another outstanding day at the 2022 Presidents Cup during Round 2 on Friday as they helped the U.S. team get off to another rollicking start.
By day's end, the Americans were in the driver's seat with an 8-2 lead (tied for their biggest ever after two days) over the International team heading into Saturday's foursome matchups.
"He's my best friend in the whole world," Spieth said of Thomas. "We've played a lot of golf together. We've played a lot of golf against each other. Now we've played quite a bit with each other.
"There's nothing more fun than these team events, playing alongside JT."
As the day unfolded, it became evident that the oddsmakers got this one rightβTeam USA was highly favored to win the 14th Presidents Cup for a reason.
To start things off, the International team really struggled on the greens, and the U.S. team's putting prowess enabled them to capitalize.
The crowd was loud, cheering on the home team as they continued to put points on the board for Team USA.
Now, it's up to the International team to try to figure out how to change their fortunes at this tournament, which has been uncomfortably one-sided thus far.

Thanks to their ability to make the big putts and near blowout 8-2 lead after two days, Team USA is in position to actually clinch the Cup on Saturday.
Not surprising when considering how Thomas and Spieth are playing, as well as Billy Horschel and Max Homa, who sank a thrilling birdie on the 18 for the win.
If the International team wants to play spoilers, they'll need to perform better when they get to the greens and get out strong on Saturday.
Mentally, that might be tough considering how they've been putted thus far.
"The score means we need to get better, plain and simple," Trevor Immelman told Golf Digest. "And we will."
Immelman's optimism is laudable, but it might be a bit misplaced considering the hole his team is in.
Look for the Americans to close this thing out after three days.
