If you've bet on the Kansas City Chiefs to have success in recent years, you've likely made some money. They've been among the best teams in the NFL over the past few seasons and are poised to be a top contender again in 2022.

As long as the Chiefs have a core featuring players such as quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, defensive lineman Chris Jones and others, they're in a good position to produce positive results. And it helps that head coach Andy Reid has provided steady leadership since his arrival in 2013.

This year, though, Kansas City will need to overcome the loss of several impact players. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins, while safety Tyrann Mathieu signed with the New Orleans Saints.

The Chiefs still have a strong team, though, and it may be wise to place some bets on them to fare well this year before their opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 11.

Here's a full Kansas City betting guide to help as you're considering placing wagers for the 2022 NFL season. (All odds come from DraftKings Sportsbook.)

Odds to Win AFC West: +175

It's not a surprise the Chiefs have the best odds of winning the AFC West this season at +175 (bet $100 to win $175). They've finished first in the division each of the past six years, and there's a good chance they'll extend that streak to seven.

The AFC West should be competitive, though. The Los Angeles Chargers (+220) and Denver Broncos (+260) also have decent odds of capturing the division crown, and the Las Vegas Raiders (+650) aren't a huge betting underdog.

But if any of those teams are going to unseat the Chiefs, they'll need to do a better job of beating them. That hasn't happened often in recent years, as Kansas City has a 36-6 record in AFC West matchups since the beginning of the 2015 season.

The Chiefs are still the best team in this division, even if the gap over the others (especially the Chargers) may now be a bit closer.

It's quite probable Kansas City will capture another AFC West title in 2022, making it a good bet again this year.

Over/Under Win Total: 10.5

Since Reid became head coach, the team has had 11 or more wins in seven of nine seasons. The only times Kansas City hasn't reached that mark were in 2014 (9-7) and 2017 (10-6).

The Chiefs have won 12 or more games in each of the past four seasons, and there's a good chance they'll be around that number again in 2022. The odds of them finishing with more than 10.5 victories (-115; bet $115 to win $100) are currently better than them ending up with 10 or fewer wins (-105).

There are some tough matchups on Kansas City's schedule this season. In addition to its six AFC West contests, it faces quite a few other top-tier teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills.

Still, the Chiefs typically prove they're up to those types of challenges. And even if they don't win 12-plus games again this year, an 11-6 season should be attainable. So bet the over on Kansas City's projected win total.

Patrick Mahomes over 4,650.5 passing yards (-110)

Even though Mahomes lost his top wide receiver in Hill, this still should be a safe prop bet to make.

The 26-year-old has passed for 4,740 or more yards in three of his first four seasons as Kansas City's starting quarterback, and the only time he didn't (4,031 yards in 2019), he played only 14 games.

Mahomes is going to air it out, making the players around him better in the process. JuJu Smith-Schuster could return to form now that he'll be catching passes from the Texas Tech product, and he could become the top receiving threat (alongside Kelce) the Chiefs need.

If for some reason Kansas City's offense takes a step back, Mahomes is still going to be passing a lot. That's how this unit operates. So, it seems likely he'll be racking up yardage and should finish with at least 4,651 yards through the air.

Skyy Moore to have most rookie receiving yards (+1000)

The advantage Skyy Moore has over other top rookie wide receivers? He'll be catching passes from Mahomes this season. That gives this long-shot prop bet a decent chance of yielding a big reward.

There are five players with better odds of being the rookie receiving leader in 2022. But Moore, a second-round draft pick out of Western Michigan, is firmly in the conversation. And he could quickly climb the Chiefs' depth chart if any other receivers (Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling or Mecole Hardman) underperform.

The 21-year-old has big-play potential, and he's gotten off to an impressive start at training camp this summer. Take a chance on him now before these odds get a lot shorter as the year goes on.
