Fantasy Football 2022: Funny Team Names for the Upcoming Season
Fantasy Football 2022: Funny Team Names for the Upcoming Season

There's a lot of preparation that comes prior to the fantasy football season. Managers need to decide their draft strategy, research players who they want to target and then execute a plan, being ready to pivot on the fly if the draft unfolds in an unexpected manner.
Another important part of the fantasy preseason? Coming up with a great team name.
Ideally, your team will be at the top of the standings for most of the 2022 season and your leaguemates will be looking up at you. Perhaps your league even has a trophy that will ideally have your team's name engraved into it at season's end. That's why the name needs to be funny, clever and memorable.
Of course, one popular concept is giving a fantasy team a name based off one of the players on its roster. So it may be wise to wait to name your team until after your league's draft.
In the meantime, here are some fantasy team names you may want to start considering for the 2022 season.
Quarterbacks

Brady Gaga (Tom Brady)
Dak Side of the Moon (Dak Prescott)
Work from Mahomes (Patrick Mahomes)
Return of the Mac (Mac Jones)
Cobra Kyler (Kyler Murray)
Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood (Aaron Rodgers)
Tuafinity and Beyond (Tua Tagovailoa)
Hurts So Good (Jalen Hurts)
Many of the biggest stars in the NFL are quarterbacks, so you may want to name your fantasy team after one of them. You're also likely to have a top-tier QB on your roster who could be a crucial player to your team's success.
Brady-themed names remain in the mix this year after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback retired and then quickly unretired earlier this offseason. He may be turning 45 on Aug. 3, but he continues to play at a high level and could be a start-worthy fantasy QB yet again in 2022.
Tagovailoa hasn't put up great fantasy numbers over his first two NFL seasons, and Jones wasn't too fantasy relevant as a rookie last year. But they could be on the rise this upcoming season, so perhaps you'll want to commit to one of them in the form of your team name.
It's hard to go wrong with team names centered around Mahomes, Murray, Prescott, Rodgers and other top-level QBs. These guys are going to be strong fantasy contributors again in 2022.
Rookie Class

White Pickett Fence (Kenny Pickett)
Whatchu Talkin' Bout Willis? (Malik Willis)
Golden Corral (Matt Corral)
Breece's Pieces (Breece Hall)
London Calling (Drake London)
Olave Garden (Chris Olave)
Jameson and Ginger Ale (Jameson Williams)
The Skyywalker Saga (Skyy Moore)
You never quite know which rookies are going to have breakout seasons. After all, nobody was taking Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase early in fantasy drafts last year, then he ended up putting huge numbers while being named Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Some of the above rookies will merit late-round consideration in drafts. It's unlikely that any of the quarterbacks are worthy fantasy starters in 2022, but some of the running backs and/or wide receivers could turn out to be useful players to stash on the bench.
London will have an opportunity to be one of the Falcons' top receivers early, so he could be a strong player to draft in the mid-to-late rounds. Don't be surprised if Olave also makes a quick impact for the Saints' offense.
Classics

Catalina Wine Mixon (Joe Mixon)
Hooked on a Thielen (Adam Thielen)
Zeke and Destroy (Ezekiel Elliott)
Run CMC (Christian McCaffrey)
Can you Diggs it? (Stefon Diggs)
Hot Chubb Time Machine (Nick Chubb)
Bend It Like Beckham Jr. (Odell Beckham Jr.)
These names have been used by plenty of fantasy football managers in the past, but sometimes, it's worth going with a classic. Most of these players are strong fantasy contributors who could be a core member of your roster in 2022.
Mixon will surely be going early in drafts this year after he set career highs in rushing yards (1,205) and total touchdowns (16) last season. He put up a lot of fantasy points in 2021, and he'll be relied upon to do the same this year.
It will be interesting to see whether McCaffrey can stay healthy. He was a top-tier fantasy player from 2017-19, but he's played only 10 games over the past two seasons.
